Chapter 107 Accelerated Progression
Chapter 107 Accelerated Progression
We eventually arrived in front of huge stone walls. The walls were over ten metres tall, towering over the rest of the forest. We walked along the wall until we were met by several elven guards who were standing in front of the main gate.
"Come in."
I guess they'd already been informed of our arrival. Our group made our way into the city, walking in through the large wooden gate.
Inside was a large bustling city, with hundreds of buildings and tons of people. There were roads that were paved between the various different houses, from shops to services, it was much more advanced than any city that the humans had. Not only did they have significantly better infrastructure, but they also seemed to have organised law enforcement and health centres.
We were being led around by one of the elven guards who was watching the entrance.
"Please make your way over to the guild so we can take down your names and abilities."
Our group slowly migrated toward the main guild building which was a few blocks away.
We slowly made our way inside and lines up in front of the reception area, everyone was slowly getting their information taken down by the several receptionists behind the counter.
I took this time to collect all of the resources from my Minions.
I requested an earlier end-of-day report from my Minion Manager.
My Minion Manager made its way over to me.
[I've got the end-of-day report]

Suddenly, my experience bar filled quite extensively.

Ah, well, it definitely was pretty easy for me to level up. Just from collecting one day's worth of resources, I gained over a thousand experience. I assumed that this would probably be faster than most other humans... then again, who knows what the top 3 are doing, they seemed to be progressing at an incredible rate.
I also forgot that I had my [Silver Armband] which increased my efficiency even more.
With that, I was able to level up the system several times.

I was already ready to level up again, however, I was still collecting my first Shadow Path Reward. A few moments later, I was shown to a new screen.

From what I could see, nothing changed...
I waited a few moments to see if anything else was going to happen but I was left hanging. After waiting in silence for a little while, I decided to just level up again.

What was a soul mark?
I checked my arms and legs but I didn't see any marks appearing on them. However, I didn't need to wait like last time. I was shown another screen.
-
<Soul Mark>
Strength Amplification: 150%
Speed Amplification: 150%

It must have given me some boosts to my physical ability. There wasn't any information on how to increase it further, but it was good to know that I was getting stronger. However, it still probably wasn't even close to enough if I wanted to defeat the stronger vampires.
At this point, I still had enough experience to level up one final time.

There were many more rewards past the fifth level.
Whatever the case, this was my weapon to fight back against the vampires. From what I knew, it seemed the vampires weren't too interested in attacking my Minions. They seemed to be primarily motivated by the need to drink blood and since my Minions didn't have any blood, I assumed that they wouldn't want to waste their energy on them.
As a result, I should be able to send them out on expeditions without too much issue. I would still keep them in small squadrons for safety but I didn't need to keep them as tight as I did during Killer Winter.
I checked my resource-collecting division. With Killer Winter now over, I was going to invest more resources in Minions which can collect resources. I wanted to get some Woodcutter Minions and increase my efficiency.
~
[Resource Division] (198 Minions)
- 3x Woodcutter Minion
- 11x Miner Minion
- 35x Scout Minion (Farming)
- 67x Scout Minion (Mining)
- 74x Scout Minion (Woodcutting)
- 8x Scout Minion (Hunting)

It was getting pretty late so I'd probably wait until tomorrow before I sent them out again. A few minutes later, it was my turn to speak with one of the guildspeople.
"Hi, what's your name?" they asked.
"William Hunter."
"Alright, how old are you?"
"Um, I'm seventeen."
"Ah, so you're pretty young," she jotted down the notes on a little clipboard, "and what rank are you on the human rankings?"
"I'm ranked ninth at the moment."
"Oh! So you're on the leaderboard, that's great!"
"You think so?"
"Of course! We need people like you."
"Oh."
She frantically took down some more notes.
"Okay, do you mind telling me what system you have?"
"Um, I have a Minion System, I guess."
There wasn't really much reason for me to hide it from them since I had Minions escorting me at all times. It didn't take a lot of effort to deduce what my system did anyways.
"Okay, can you tell me some specifics?"
"I can create various Minions which can do tasks."
"Alright."
