Chapter 117 Elf Girl To Princess
Chapter 117 Elf Girl To Princess
Standing beside her were two guards.
"Young miss wanted to talk to you."
Young miss...?
"...um... these are for you!"
She swiftly looked away after pushing the bouquet of flowers into my chest. Some of the bright petals of the flowers scrapped against my body and fell to the ground as she pushed them harder and harder against me.
"Y-yeah, thanks... I got it."
I looked up at the two large guards who were standing beside her.
As I made eye contact with one of them, they informed me of their role.
"Young miss is the princess of the city, we're her bodyguards."
"Ah..."
I was questioning how she knew where I lived but I guess that explained it for the most part. She was wearing a very long dress but I could still see the bandages which were on some parts of her body. I thought that they'd at least force her to get some rest but I didn't really know about how royal families worked.
I took the flowers and placed them on my dining room table. I looked back over and saw that they were still standing at my door. I wanted to go to bed but since they were already here, I might as well show some hospitality; they were technically the ones providing this house for me...
"Uh, do you guys want to come in?"
Suddenly, she looked away again.
Why is this so awkward...
Even after my invitation, the girl continued standing at the doorway, practically frozen.
Oh my.
I made my way over to the door once again and grabbed her arm, intending to pull her in since she seemed to be pretty indecisive.
So soft...
The guards both prodded my face with their spears as I quickly let go of her arm.
Whoops.
"Sorry," I forgot that she was so injured.
"I-it's okay... I'm fine..." she assured.
The guards lowered their weapons from my face.
"Um... I'll come in if you don't mind."
"Yeah, that's fine."
She made her way inside and took off her shoes. Following pretty shortly behind her were her two guards. She suddenly turned and pointed out the door.
"You guys don't need to follow me everywhere!"
"We're under orders, you were injured last time because you ran away by yourself."
She pouted and began pushing them away, however, they didn't budge due to their size.
After a short moment, she gave up and walked towards me.
"Sorry about them..." she said.
"It's fine."
She took a seat at the dinner table as I made my way over to the kitchen.
"Do you want something to drink?" I asked them.
"Um, I'll have some tea if you don't mind."
"Alright."
I already had some water boiling so I put the tea leaves and water into a cup. I took the tray over to the table and passed them out to the guests. However, one of the guards stopped her as she brought the cup to her mouth.
"Wait, we need to check it first," said one of the guards.
One of the guards poured a little bit of the tea onto their hand and drank it. Everyone watched the guard in silence as he waited for something to happen.
Obviously, nothing happened since I didn't poison the tea.
For some reason, the guards were still suspicious of me. They were both staring at me as if they were waiting for me to do something.
I guess they wanted me to drink my tea?
I lifted the cup and took a sip.
I guess security was pretty tight.
After they observed me for a little longer, they finally allowed the princess to drink it.
"By the way, what's your name?" I asked her.
I realised that I hadn't even gotten her name yet.
"My name's Aina..."
"Ah, nice to meet you, Aina."
She suddenly smiled as I said her name.
"Well, I'm William," I continued.
"O-oh... nice to meet you too."
I guess we'd already met but this was just the formality. I continued drinking my warm tea as I watched her awkwardly fiddle around. I wasn't really sure what to say at this point... in fact, I wasn't really sure why she was here at all. She seemed to just be thanking me although now we were all awkwardly sitting at my dining table.
Her guards were sitting silently, not touching the tea I gave them.
This was a really uncomfortable atmosphere.
After I finished my cup of tea, I decided to get up and see if they wanted to leave.
"So um... did you guys have any other business with me?"
"Oh, um, not really..."
I began packing away the cups and putting them into the sink to be washed later. Her guards had stood up but she was still sitting in the seat. I made my way back over and looked at them as I waited for someone to say something.
"Well... I'm sure you guys want to get some sleep so I won't hold you all here."
I began leading them to the door since they all didn't seem to know what to do. I waited as they slowly made their way over.
"Well... thank you for letting us stay..." Aina said.
"It's my pleasure."
Eventually, they began making their way outside.
Suddenly, Aina turned around one final time, her hair swaying hypnotically.
"Um... do you want to have lunch with me tomorrow?"
Uh... I didn't really know what to say.
"I should be free."
"Yay~ um... see you tomorrow then!"
With that, she turned and quickly hurried off. I watched as her guards followed closely behind her. It was pretty late at night so there were hardly any people outside. Finally, I closed the door and made my way upstairs to my bed.
I still had some issues in relation to the justice I needed to uphold. Although, it would be significantly easier with the help of Robbie so it wasn't too worrying. At least my lunch was sorted for tomorrow.
I didn't initially feel like going, but I hoped that getting close to the princess would help me get into contact with Elanor. She'd be pretty useful to me in the future, especially since I had information that she'd desperately want.
Resting on my soft bed, I leaned to the side and closed my eyes.
The world slowly drifted into darkness.
