Chapter 139 Duke To Progenitor - Part 1

Chapter 139 Duke To Progenitor - Part 1

Standing on the uneven ground, Lest looked over at the Seventh Progenitor's base. There were scarce sections of grass on the ground but not enough for it to look appealing. It was like someone had driven through with a bulldozer and destroyed the structural integrity of the dirt.

The building was extremely run-down, littered with spider webs and mould. Bits of the roof hung down like decorations, waiting to fall to the ground at any moment. Eventually, Karnstein led the two vampires inside and then walked down a small hatch which led to the main base.

It was a huge tunnel system, similar of that to a sewerage pipe. The entire area was damp and humid, water dripped from the roof. It was hundreds of metres long, with room dispersed within the walls of the tunnel. Lest and Fuola continued to follow Karnstein as he led them further and further into the hideout.

After a little while, they arrived at an intersection which appeared to be a gathering area of some sort. There was a large number of vampires watching from a distance, observing what was happening. It wasn't every day that Karnstein brought two Dukes of another Progenitor back to the base.

A few moments later, the Seventh Progenitor showed himself from the shadows.

"Good job, Karnstein."

Lest appeared to be confused by the seemingly calm greeting that occurred between the Seventh Progenitor and Karnstein. It was almost like they had planned this entire situation in advance.

In vampire civilisations, it was possible to convert another vampire's offspring into your own. In fact, it was easier to do so than if you were to convert a human of the same strength. Although, humans generally weren't as strong as royals of another Progenitor. However, if you could convert another's royal, they would become even stronger, being an even better weapon.

"Hey, how's it going... Lest?"

"I'm doing alright~"

"Ah, so what do you think about a cup of tea?"

"I wouldn't mind that."

Right in front of him, the Seventh Progenitor had one of his offspring prepare a cup of tea, placing it in his hands.

"Are you going to give that to me?" Lest asked.

"Ah, of course."

With loud thumping footsteps, the Seventh Progenitor walked toward him.

Boiling hot tea splashed onto Lest's face.

All of a sudden, hundreds of vampires swarmed the scene.

"I've been needing someone like you, Lest~"

As he wiped the boiling tea off of his face, he noticed that he and Fuola were completely surrounded. In every possible angle, there were vampires with their weapons drawn. It seemed that Lest had been caught in yet another trap.

"Ah~ this isn't good."

Fuola and Lest quickly drew their swords, however, the other vampires didn't give them a single second of time. Instantly pushing in droves, the various offspring of the Seventh Progenitor charged at Lest and Fuola. The two of them tried to block the endless attacks, however, even they weren't capable of fighting off so many at the same time.

"Sword, drink my blood."

A huge cyclone of aura formed with Lest at the centre. It seemed that he had gathered even more power than last time. An endless stream of blood flooded his arms, pouring into the blade of his weapon. It was the most energy that Lest had ever used in one engagement. He was pouring every last ounce of spare blood into his sword.

For the first time, Lest looked around with an angry expression on his face.

Within seconds of the engagement beginning, Lest and Fuola were split up from each other. Neither of them had time to worry about the other since they were both in the most peril they had ever been in.

With a powerful swing of the sword, Lest launched out an unimaginably large amount of energy, causing such a big explosion that the foundations of the cave began to collapse. The single attack wiped out a huge number of the Seventh Progenitor's forces. However, it seemed that all the other vampires were just a diversion.

The Seventh Progenitor slowly walked toward Lest.

He had drawn his weapon, a weapon that only the Progenitors could use.

"Drink my blood, Belial."

Lest quickly noticed what was occurring.

"Uh oh."

Before he could react, he was sent crashing into the wall. The force of the Seventh Progenitor's weapon even managed to overwhelm his strength. As rubble tumbled down from the roof of the hideout, Lest gradually pulled himself up off of the ground.

Behind the Seventh Progenitor, it seemed that Fuola had managed to kill a large number of his men. Hundreds of vampire corpses lay strewn on the ground, clasping onto life.

The Progenitor walked toward Lest once again. Lest raised his weapon but the Progenitor's strength was much too overwhelming. He was once again sent crashing into the wall, slowly regenerating his injuries. However, before the Progenitor could land another strike on Lest, he was forced to turn and engage another enemy.

"Invoke, Magic Armor—Type Zero."

Surrounding Fuola was a glistening pure white barrier. It was extruded only a few centimetres from his body, but one could feel the denseness of it from metres away. It was like a separate dimension, a completely unbreakable defence.

The Seventh Progenitor swung his sword, smashing into Fuola's Magic Armour. The collision caused a huge explosion of dust and rubble, however, as the smoke settled, Fuola was still standing where he was before.

"No way... what is that ability...?"

The Seventh Progenitor was in pure shock, he had not expected that there would be a vampire, who wasn't even a Progenitor, who was capable of sustaining his attacks without any trouble.

Seeing the opening, Lest kicked off of the wall and swung his deep crimson blade at the Seventh Progenitor. Still, in awe, the Progenitor didn't have enough time to react and the attack managed to connect with his body.

However, even as the weapon dug into his flesh, the Progenitor jumped back creating some space and before long, the wound was completely healed.
