Skyler’s face changed, “Call the police? Is it really necessary to involve them in such a small family matter? Don’t you know your sister?! She’s just too stubborn to admit her mistakes. She cried a lot when she called me earlier. She already knows she messed up. Being her brother, talking to her like that, of course she’s gonna argue.”
“I didn’t argue with him!”
“Shut up!” Skyler scolded her, and Kaylee reluctantly closed her mouth.
“Her appearance is a mess. If you bring her there, it might frighten the old man. Let her change and tidy up. I’ll have someone prepare a gift, and we’ll all go to the hospital together to apologize.”
Liam, in reality, had no intention of taking Kaylee to the police station. Knowing that Grandpa David had epilepsy and considering the circumstances, it was more of a civil dispute rather than reaching the threshold of intentional assault. He had merely made that statement to frighten Kaylee.
With Skyler’s help, Kaylee finally calmed down.
She went upstairs to change, tidy up, and then Liam took her to the hospital.
Grandpa David was transferred to a regular ward and woke up half an hour later.
The Campbell family received a call, and they all rushed over.
Everyone gathered around the bed, concerned, and Latonia curiously asked, “The old man had always been in good health. How could he have fallen so badly just after staying there for a few days?”

“Not one person from the Reed family has shown up. Since it happened in their house, shouldn’t they come and give an explanation?”
Everyone speculated, blaming Celeste for not taking good care of him.

“Enough!” David frowned at the concerned people around him, “Get out of here!”
Everyone immediately quieted down and reluctantly left the ward.
Celeste also wanted to leave, but David stopped her, “Letti, get me a glass of water.”
Celeste came back with a glass of water.
After taking a few sips, he patted the bed and said, “Come sit.”
Celeste sat down.
‘Where’s Young Reed?”
Celeste replied softly, “He was here just now, but he might have something to deal with and has left temporarily.”
David moved his lips but stayed quiet.
Celeste clenched her hands, whispering, “I’m sorry.”
Grandpa David smiled, “Why are you apologizing? You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Celeste said in a soft voice, “If I had been at home, I wouldn’t have let her get close to you.”
“Hmph, I only got angry and lowered myself to arguing with a kid. Whatever she says can’t change anything.”
Grandpa sighed and said, “I’ve been wanting to formally meet my in–laws and see what kind of people they are, but I didn’t expect it to happen like this.” He gently patted Celeste’s hand. “I should’ve seen it coming.”
Celeste was confused as Grandpa David pulled a bank book from his clothes and handed it to her. “This is the compensation money from when our old house was demolished a few years ago. The password is six ones. With this, the Reed family won’t look down on you. If you’re not happy in your marriage, use this money to buy a small house. It’s enough for you to live on. Remember, marriage isn’t that important – being happy is
what matters most.”
Tears welled up in Celeste’s eyes, and she pushed the bank book back, saying, “I don’t want it.”
“You silly girl!” Grandpa tapped her on the head with the bankbook. “Everybody is eyeing this bit of money I have, and yet when I give it to you, you don’t want it. No wonder that girl bullies you!”
