Clyde was on the balcony chatting on the phone, and the guy on the other line was none other than Skyler.
Hearing that Kaylee was with him, Skyler was slightly relieved. “You’ve got to keep Kaylee safe, alright? Don’t let anyone snatch her away, or we’re all screwed.”
“I gotcha,” Clyde glanced into the living room, “What on earth did Kaylee do to make Liam want to take her back?”
Skyler didn’t spill the beans but just snorted angrily, “Liam thinks he’s such a big shot! Always looking out for others and forgetting about his own flesh and blood, just like his dad, simple–minded!”
She went on a rant, throwing shade at Liam for all his shortcomings, and then warned again, “Kaylee is a piece of my heart; don’t let Liam take her away. If anything happens to her, I’ll never let you off the hook!”
Clyde said, “Chill, Skyler. As long as I’m here, no one’s dragging her away.”
Just as they were talking, Liam’s call came in. Clyde glanced at the screen and said, “Gotta hang up, Skyler. Liam’s calling.” He ended Skyler’s call and picked up Liam’s. A cold voice came through: “Uncle, let Kaylee out.”
His tone was straightforward, there was no no beating around the bush.
Kaylee heard Liam’s words. She shook her head, her face full of fear.
Clyde calmly said, “Kaylee’s been away from home for a while. Your aunt misses her terribly, so she’s staying here tonight. You should head back home.”
Liam’s tone got colder: “The cops want to see her about something. So she may not be able to stay at your place tonight. Open the door.”
Hearing that the cops were coming, Kaylee started shaking. She quickly shook her head and whispered, “Uncle, I don’t want to go with him.”
Clyde continued, “Kaylee’s already asleep. I’ll explain it to the cops.”
Liam seemed to have reached his limit. “Kaylee, I know you’re listening. You have five minutes to come out on your own, or I’m coming in!”
He didn’t even give Clyde a chance to respond, and he hung up.
Clyde frowned. This young man was getting more and more disrespectful.
Kaylee turned pale with fear. “Uncle, I really need your help; my brother won’t let me go.”
Before Clyde could respond, Valeria curiously asked, “What the hell did you do to piss off Liam?”
Kaylee’s lips trembled for a while before she said, “I splashed hot water on Celeste.”
Valeria was taken aback, then her eyes lit up with excitement.
“Did Celeste get hurt?”
“No, someone blocked it for her.” If she had really splashed Celeste, her brother wouldn’t have let her off the hook. Valeria thought that Liam still had feelings for Celeste, this was good news. She was a bit upset when she heard that Skyler had invited Janis and her daughter today.
She had asked Janis out a few times, but Janis always found an excuse to refuse. In fact, Janis looked down on the Reed family, which made Valeria furious.

Wesley chuckled and came down from upstairs, saying, “Being pretty is her biggest asset. Men are all about looks; who can resist beauty?”
Wesley leaned against the railing and continued, “I suggest you go out and sort this out. Maybe if Liam sees you’re sorry, he won’t punish you.”
“I won’t!” Kaylee was adamant: “You don’t know my brother at all. He locked me in the bathroom all night because of Celeste. If he takes me away this time, he won’t let me off easily.”
Then she begged Clyde, “Uncle, please don’t let my brother take me away.”
Clyde said, “Don’t worry; how can he barge in if I don’t open the door?”
Just as he finished speaking, there was a loud “bang“.
Clyde was taken aback, and soon after, the doorman rushed in.
“Sir, the gate was rammed open by a bulldozer.”
Everyone thought they had misheard.
