Chapter 750

All of a sudden, it felt like his blood was rushing to his head, then pooling back down, making him feel unusually hot.

His throat felt dry, so he couldn’t help but lick his lips. Just as he was about to speak, he heard Trisha mumble something about whether Dr. Ledford preferred big or small. Nicolas fell silent.

That comment was like a bucket of cold water dumped on his head, instantly snapping Nicolas back to reality.

Not only was he clear–headed now, but he also felt a sense of shame, as if he’d been fooled.

He pursed his lips, tossed the blanket on the bed at Trisha, and got up to leave with a cold expression on his face.

Liam and Celeste waited for more than ten minutes before Nicolas finally brought the umbrellas.

But he only brought two. One for himself and the other for them.

Liam frowned, “Just one?”

Nicolas thought to himself, this idiot, he thinks he can woo Celeste like this?

He pursed his lips and said, “Ms. Colton is drunk. I could only find two umbrellas. Why don’t you use one, and Ms. Campbell can share mine.”

A look of displeasure crossed Liam’s face when he heard this. But before he could open his mouth, Celeste said, “That’s okay.”

Liam was speechless.

Nicolas was delighted to see Liam’s awkward expression. His earlier unpleasant seemed to vanish instantly.

He continued to provoke, “Ms. Campbell, the water is deep here. Why don’t I carry you over?”

Liam’s face darkened, “Last time in the wild, you couldn’t even carry a piece of meat. What do you think you can carry?”

Celeste’s face changed slightly as she looked at Liam.

Liam was still clueless about his blunder and continued to glare at Nicolas.

Nicolas grinned, “That’s not fair to compare; Ms. Campbell is so slim. How could she possibly weigh more than a piece of pork?”

Liam, completely oblivious to the trap he’d been led into, said seriously, “She weighs 120 pounds; how could she not weigh more than a piece of pork?”

Celeste’s face changed completely, and she walked away with the umbrella.

Liam was stunned for a moment, then hurried after her, “Ms. Campbell, wait, I’ll carry you.”

Celeste scoffed, “Spare me; I weigh more than a pig; I don’t want to break your back.”

Liam was taken aback; he turned to look at Nicolas, who was squinting his eyes and grinning like a fox.

That bastard!

Liam was caught between blaming Nicolas’s provocative behavior and blaming his own slow reaction.

“Ms. Campbell, I didn’t mean it that way, I don’t think you’re fat.”

Celeste mocked, “How could I not be fat? I weigh 120 pounds, more than a piece of pork.”

Liam hurried to explain, “120 pounds isn’t heavy. Even when you weighed over 130 pounds, I didn’t think you were fat. I could still pick you up.” Upon hearing this, Celeste’s face changed even more.

She stomped on his foot and while Liam was yowling in pain, she walked away with the umbrella.

Nicolas watched Liam bent over in the rain, looking awkward, and he instantly felt much better.

He walked over to Liam, grinning, “See, I’m a good friend, right?”

Liam glanced at him, grabbed his umbrella, and went after Celeste.

Nicolas sighed and quickly followed.

Despite his hurry, he was still a step late. Celeste had already taken the elevator upstairs.

Liam knocked on the door for a long time, but Celeste didn’t respond.

Nicolas watched for a while before saying, “Just leave it, women are generally sensitive about their weight. She won’t cool down anytime soon.”

Liam glared at him, “You have the nerve to say that!”
