Chapter 143: Jing Yiran’s Baby? (Part Two)

Jing Yiran did have a lot of affairs, but this woman had been the first one to turn up at his door, that too pregnant.

Other women who came to his house, looking for him or complaining about him, were all politely asked to leave. This one was different. She was pregnant. Even Grandma Mo Lan was surprised.

She came to Chudan and said with a smile, “Good girl, come and sit down. If you really are pregnant with Yiran’s baby, you are definitely going to give birth to the child. It doesn’t matter if the child was conceived accidentally. Jing Yiran doesn’t get to decide, so what you need to do is to keep the baby well.”

Even though Mo Lan had said so, she was not completely sure that the baby was her grandson’s. This girl in front of them was trying to act all coy, but apparently she was quite foxy and had had numerous affairs herself. No one could say for sure that the baby belonged to the Jing family.

Jing Yiran watched the two women of the Family arrive at a decision, without even consulting with him.

If this woman was indeed pregnant with his baby, they two were definitely going to ensure that the baby was born.

He felt angry and sad, at the same time.

Luckily, he had always been very cautious in this regard. No matter how much he was tempted and how much he lusted over a particular woman, he would always use protection.

He knew the consequences of his actions, if he ever got casual about this. He didn’t want to bring a bastard child into this world. His love child would lead the same life that he had led. His child’s identity would bring shame to the family, like he had. Jing Yiran too, was a love child.

It was true that Jing Yiran was the second heir of Family Jing, but there was no denying the fact that he was a love child. If Jing Yichen’s mother Zhao Qing hadn’t passed away, then his mother Zhang Rong would never have been able to move into this villa, and he would have lived his entire life as Zhao Qing’s biological son, rather than admit publicly that his father, Jing Zhongxiu, had had a child out of wedlock.

His birth was an accident, one that was the product of his mother Zhang Rong’s scheme, which she brought into effect by drugging his father Jing Zhongxiu.

It had also been because of Grandma Mo Lan, who had stopped Jing Zhongxiu from forcing Zhang Rong abort the child. That is how he came into this world.

Zhao Qing was aghast that Mo Lan would ever suggest such a thing, that too while Jing Zhongxiu was still married to her. She had a huge row with Jing Zhongxiu. She left the house in a fit of anger and died in a car accident because she lost control of the vehicle, on account of her emotions.

Zhang Rong eventually married Jing Zhongxiu when she was pregnant, and gave birth to Jing Yiran one month after the wedding.

This was why Jing Yichen had always hated Jing Zhongxiu, Mo Lan, Zhang Rong and Jing Yiran, ever since he started to understand the difference between right and wrong. He understood that had it not been for the insensitivity of these people, his mother would still be alive.

When Jing Yiran was younger and a very naive, he thought that he had the same status as Jing Yichen, but he didn’t understand why his father favored Jing Yichen more. Father would teach Jing Yichen everything, including the operational affairs and key financial matters of the enterprise, yet Jing Zhongxiu would never do the same with Jing Yiran. Therefore, Jing Yiran had always grudged Jing Yichen and kept picking on him.

Jing Yichen had never taken to Jing Yiran. All they needed to do was share a roof. As long as they were under the same roof, it was only a matter of time before either of them picked a fight with the other.

Jing Yiran was younger and less experienced, so he wasn’t a match for Jing Yichen, who was three years older than Jing Yiran. Every time Jing Yiran got injured on account of Yichen, he would complain to Mo Lan who would scold Jing Yichen, irrespective of whose fault it was.

When he became older, Jing Yiran finally understood his real background. He understood the reason for which he was treated the way he was. He was, after all, a love child.

He was different from Jing Yichen in every single way. He wasn’t qualified enough to take over the Enterprise and its affairs. He hadn’t earned the right to be favored by Jing Zhongxiu. In the initial days, he hadn’t even earned the right to get the customary white silk handkerchief that represented the identity of Family Jing. He recollected that in his childhood, even the staff of the house, treated him differently compared to the love and respect they gave Jing Yichen.

He hated his life so much that he wished that his child would be nothing like him. He wished that his child would not have to carry the heavy cross of the mistakes made by its parents.

Therefore, whatever the case was, even if this woman was pregnant with his baby, he would never allow this child to be born.

Jing Yiran smiled deviously. Finally, something of consequence occurred to him.

“Grandma, mom, I don’t know this woman at all. The baby in her belly is definitely not mine. But since you believe her so much, what do you think about getting a DNA test at the hospital right now?”

Technology had made huge progress in the last few decades and it was now possible to get a DNA test done while a child was still in the womb of its mother. A little amniotic fluid was removed from the womb, and this would later be used to further tests to determine the DNA of the child. State of the art technology would be used and would ensure accurate results along with the safety of the mother and child.

Chudan said that she was pregnant for four months. It seemed like the right time to go in for a DNA test.

This test was often performed around the 16th week of pregnancy, when the foetus was not fully developed but there was no risk of a miscarriage. There was a lot of amniotic fluid in the womb and only a small quantity would be required for this test to be conducted. This would not affect the pregnancy in any way. It was a totally harmless procedure.

Both Mo Lan and Zhang Rong had thought of this idea as well, so they agreed instantly, hearing Jing Yiran’s suggestion. They both thought that the test wouldn’t do any harm to the child and it would be enough proof to know for sure if the child was Jing Yiran’s or not. The pregnant woman’s story lacked conviction anyway.

Jing Yiran noticed that not only these two women but even Chudan seemed to approve of this method. She didn’t show any sign of panic as if she was totally certain that the baby was indeed his.

Jing Yiran smirked to himself. It didn’t matter who the father of this child was, as long as he could somehow convince these three women to accompany him to the hospital. He would then get them to decide if Chudan needed a DNA test or an abortion.

This woman, Chudan, looked charming and cunning. She wasn’t the usual damsel in distress. She clearly didn’t believe in doing things the conventional way when she turned up at his residence with a pregnant belly.

Jing Yiran had no idea of what lay in store for him at the hospital, whilst he was busy making other plans on the sly.

It was the weekend today and it was one of those rare times when Jing Yichen and Shangguan Ning decided to take it easy and rest at home. Jing Yichen was cooking dinner for them.

She had been sick several times, since they had gotten to know each other. Each time she had been hospitalised, her condition had been worse than the previous time. As a result, she had lost a lot of weight and looked a lot thinner than before.

Jing Yichen asked the chef to prepare various nutritious dishes for her, so that she became gained some weight.

Also, Shangguan Ning had become quite particular about the food she ate. She had always been fond of the shrimp Jing Yichen made for her, so they went to the supermarket, bought the ingredients and Jing Yichen prepared the dish for her once again.

After lunch, Shangguan Ning was watching TV while lying down on the sofa, but soon she fell asleep.

Jing Yichen carried her carefully and placed her on their bed in the bedroom. He covered her with a blanket and then kissed her forehead with love. He couldn’t help smiling, watching her sleep so peacefully.

He walked out of the bedroom quietly, and walked into the study where Tiger was already waiting for him.

“How is it going?” Jing Yichen’s voice was calm and devoid of any emotion.
