Chapter 603: Underground Kingdom
About a decade ago, B City conducted new municipal planning, under which old factories and enterprises were moved to the new industrial area which had a better location and offered wider occupation.
The old industrial area was spread across thousands of square meters, and after the original factories moved from there, their facilities as well as the vegetation around them, still remained.
Because of serious environmental issues, the soil of this land was destroyed, making the water that streamed along, into a stinky sewer.
Many people in B City believed that this deserted land was sold to a businessman at a low price by the government. It was said that the businessman had tried to build an area of residential houses on this land, but because of economic problems, the construction was halted halfway.
As a result, this old industrial area had become a deserted land.
Shangguan Ning drove slowly into this abandoned place following the Buick.
This area was one river apart from the deserted factory where Jing Zhongxiu was. He could see Shangguan Ning coming out of the car, following dozens of men into a house.
The river was not deep nor did it have a fast current, but the river course had been expanded by Tang Shunian, purposefully. It was not easy to cross over.
Luckily, Jing Zhongxiu had a helicopter with him.
Shangguan Ning did not notice Jing Zhongxiu standing across the bank, but she did notice Lu who was hidden nearby.
She was not sure how Lu, who had been with Jing Zhongxiu ten minutes ago, reached here so fast. But she didn’t show any reaction and followed the fierce looking men into the abandoned residential house.
It was totally dark inside the house with at least ten entries on the first floor, each of which was well designed and looked identical. Even if an outsider found this place, he would not be able to find the correct door.
Fingerprints were required at the entry, and three men were needed to put in their fingerprints so that the door could open.
Shangguan Ning followed those men underground. They passed six doors and reached a cellar.
Lu killed a man with a similar body shape silently at the entry, and changed into his clothes. She followed Shangguan Ning and entered the underground area.
In case fingerprints of this man were required, she had cut his hands and worn them over hers.
It was a good thing that she did that, because dozens of men were required at one door or the other. Every third door, three men’s fingerprints were needed, and one of them belonged to the man whom Lu had killed.
However, when they came to the cellar, everyone stopped. Shangguan Ning was the only one allowed to enter the place.
Lu had no choice but to stay out and let Shangguan Ning enter alone.
Shangguan Ning took a deep breath, and walked in slowly as the door opened.
After walking through a long passage, she reached an open place.
A golden colored hall was in front of her.
There was slow music in the room, and a fancy wine colored carpet was on the floor. A dazzling chandelier hung from the roof and there was a white table and chairs along with golden plates to match the decor. Some fresh fruit and scrumptious desserts were placed on the table.
It did not look like a cellar, but a luxurious palace.
“Welcome to my underground kingdom, Miss Shangguan!”
A catchy male voice reached Shangguan Ning, startling her.
She moved her gaze and saw a man rising from somewhere below the ground of the hall.
Shangguan Ning was a bit startled. She realised that this gentle looking man must be Tang Shunian!
How much did he like staying underground, that he built a place like this?
She had a good memory, but still could not remember the passages which she had crossed and suspected that she would not be able to walk out of here without a guide! Also, it seemed that there were some more cellars below this hall, from where Tang Shunian came up.
Tang Shunian came to Shangguan Ning with steady steps, sizing her up with interest.
She looked fresh and vital dressed in white, fitted sportswear.
She had shoulder length hair, and the bottom tip of it reflected golden brown color, the last remains of dyed hair. Tang Shunian hated women with dyed hair. All the old women who once tormented him had dyed theirs, and he felt disgusted when he saw such women.
But to his surprise, he found himself completely fine with Shangguan Ning’s hair.
Could it be because of her beautiful appearance, snowy white skin and her crystal clear eyes?
Or could it be because she neither panicked nor looked frightened as she stood there, showing great composure?
She was like a blooming magnolia, elegant and pure, fresh and quiet.
Tang Shunian found his dead soul reviving at the sight of her!
Or maybe his heart had finally flipped for a girl.
Tang Shunian showed a smile and whispered, “Finally, the girl herself...”
None of the phones did justice to her. He had thought that her pictures had shown her best look. But instead, those photos had just captured her appearance, not her air.
Shangguan Ning could hear Tang Shunian’s whisper.
She got slightly confused.
What did he mean?
Tang Shunian understood Shangguan Ning’s confusion as if he could read her mind.
He showed a perfectly handsome smile and said, “Miss Shangguan, you are indeed special. But you seem to be confused about my knowing you from before. Well, it is not a secret. Jing Yichen also knows about it. I was very interested in knowing you, so I ordered my men to click your pictures so that I could see you every single day. It feels that I know you well, in fact it seems that I have known you for a very long time!”
Shangguan Ning had not seen this coming.
He saw her pictures every single day?
His words made Shangguan Ning feel very uncomfortable.
