Chapter 190: A Duke’s Son, Vampiric Form
Hand over all Direbeast carcasses...
Transfer all points...
Having their backs to the wall, the two veteran trainees were enraged. “You are too much!”
“Too much?” Ling Jiu laughed. “From what I heard, as long as the forest is not being sabotaged, it isn’t too much even to kill a person.”
The two veteran trainees had their hearts in their mouths. “What do you want?”
“Simple. Hand over all your monster bodies and points, and I will let you go. Or else, I don’t mind burying you two in the barren land of Mars forever.”
Ling Jiu said. “Don’t doubt what I said. I might be new here, but I heard that killing people in the matriculation camp doesn’t come with any consequences.”
“This is too much!”
“This is bullying!”
The other veteran trainee trembled in fury. No way they would hand over all the monster bodies and points. That was all they had. Once they were handed over, they would have nothing left.
They would have to start all over again, which was harder to accept than death. But if you did not hand them over...
Just as the two were in a pickle, a figure suddenly came in front of them in a flash.
That figure was wearing a Venom Suit, its face covered. But the two veteran trainees recognized that person at once, their eyes gleaming. “Hiram!”
“It is you two?”
That person glanced at the two of them. “Since you two are here, that means you two have got the four monsters, right?”
“No.”
The veteran Earth Arcanist trainee kept shaking his head. “They’re the ones who took the monsters. By the way, they are the two rookies who have just arrived in camp. The camp beauty named Bai Ya is one of them.”
“Bai Ya is here too?”
Hiram’s eyes lit up as he swept his gaze back and forth between Ling Jiu and Bai Ya. In the end, his eyes stopped on Bai Ya. “So you are Bai Ya?”
“I am.” Bai ya’s voice was frosty.
“Great! I have been looking for you for many days!”
Hiram put his right hand to his chest in a gentlemanly gesture.
“Miss Bai Ya, I was deeply attracted by your beauty the first time I saw you. I wonder if I could have the honor of having dinner with you?”
“No.” Bai Ya refused categorically.
Hiram was taken aback for a moment. “Beautiful Miss Bai Ya, my name is Hiram Howard. I come from the most ancient Howard family in Britain. My father is Duke Horatio Howard. I joined the matriculation camp two years ago, and I currently rank 29th in the standings, with 480,000 points. I have also planted 360,000 Arcana trees.”
The Duke’s son...
Twenty-ninth in the standings!
“He really is a noble. Don’t you want to think about it?”
Ling Jiu looked at Bai Ya and teased her. This guy named Hiram was showing off his wealth and status. He did that just to impress Bai Ya.
This method might be simple, crude, direct, and low-brow, but it often worked on most women.
“Go to hell.”
However, Bai Ya was not an ordinary woman. She glared at Ling Jiu, blurted the aforementioned words out, then walked away.
“Were you scolding me or him?”
Ling Jiu was slightly taken aback.
“Why is she leaving?”
Hiram was startled, too. In the past, any woman who heard him introducing himself would lose their composure instantly. All he needed to do was make the first move and they would be his.
“She asked you to go to hell,” Ling Jiu said faintly.
“What did you say?” Hiram frowned.
“Are aurally challenged or something? Listen, she asks you to go to hell!” Ling Jiu lost his patience. “So, you had better hurry.”
“You are looking for trouble, kid!”
Hiram’s face sank. “You have ten seconds to disappear in front of my eyes. Otherwise—”
“Otherwise what?”
Ling Jiu rolled his eyes and pointed at the two veteran trainees. “They have said that just now, but not done anything to me yet.”
“You have a death wish!”
Hiram hissed and vanished in a flash. In less than a tenth of a second, he reappeared in front of Ling Jiu. His right leg turned into a steel whip, and he attempted to strike Ling Jiu with great force.
“Not bad in terms of speed. Just that the intensity is a little too weak.”
Ling Jiu shook his head. He raised his right foot and kicked Hiram in his stomach with great accuracy.
Hiram’s face collapsed as he was sent flying out upright for ten meters before crashing to the ground.
Hiram groaned in pain with his hands on his stomach, feeling a sharp pain in his lower abdomen. He felt as if the kick had broken his intestines.
“Don’t you feel embarrassed with this level of strength?” Ling Jiu looked at Hiram. “Get the hell out of my sight!”
“Damn it!”
Hiram looked at Ling Jiu, his face hideous. He could not accept that a rookie had beaten him.
He could not tolerate this.
This was unforgivable.
He could not accept it.
Black mist burst out of Hiram’s body suddenly. As the black mist rose, he turned into a giant bat with a wingspan of over 50 meters, his body covered with black scales. His face was black, hideous with fangs sticking out of his mouth.
“Kid, I want you to die!” the giant bat uttered and let out a terrifying roar.
The rolling ripples of sound formed a substantial shock wave as it rushed toward Ling Jiu.
Boom!
As ripples formed in the air, the two veteran trainees covered their heads and wailed in pain on the ground.
They could not withstand the horrific energy of this sound wave even with their powerful bodies of Level 8 Arcanists.
The substantive sound waves drowned Ling Jiu in an instant. But Ling Jiu just stood there quietly, letting the sound waves hit him as if they were just a breeze blowing on his face.
A few seconds later, the sound waves faded. Ling Jiu looked at Hiram, who was now a giant bat.
“Is this the famous Vampiric Form Arcana? So much for a Vampiric Form Arcana.”
“Impossible!”
Hiram was frightened and enraged. His terrific sonic attack was powerful enough to kill a Class 8 Direbeast. Even Class 9 Direbeasts would find it unbearable. Yet, it did not seem to affect Ling Jiu at all. How could this be possible?
“Blast!”
This was unacceptable. Hiram looked up to the sky and roared, then activated another ability—Blood Manipulation Arcana—to manipulate Ling Jiu’s blood.
Ling Jiu sensed the blood in his body start to boil as if an unexplained force was directing his blood to flow into his brain.
“Blood Manipulation Arcana? Not bad!”
The corner of Ling Jiu’s mouth curled up slightly. He performed a Blink Arcana and appeared behind Hiram and then trampled him.
The giant bat incarnation of Hiram felt as if he had been struck by lightning. He was crushed into the ground with a massive pit formed in his place.
Ling Jiu grabbed and tore off one of Hiram’s wings.
Smelly dark-red blood gushed out of the wound. Hiram let out an agonistic scream, sending the two veteran trainees quaking in their boots.
“Hiram... he is completely crushed and beaten!”
“Is he really a rookie? He is so brutal!”
Meanwhile, Ling Jiu had gotten hold of Hiram’s other wing and ripped it apart with great force.
Bang!
Black mist rose as Hiram transformed back into his human form. His arms had been ripped off with stinking dark-red blood gurgling out of the wounds. Cold sweat broke out on him because of the intense pain. When he looked at Ling Jiu again, there was no more fury and hideousness but fear and trembling.
“You have one way to stay alive,” Ling Jiu said. “Hand over all your monster bodies and points, I may consider letting you go.”
“I will do it.”
That was a surprise to Ling Jiu. Hiram did not hesitate at all when he agreed. Hiram did not seem to have any backbone. Before Ling Jiu could threaten him much, he had surrendered himself.
Unknown to Ling Jiu, when Hiram manipulated his blood, he could sense something in his blood.
It was extremely heavy, full of vitality. Hiram had only sensed such blood in the Ultimate Arcanists’ bodies.
Therefore, Hiram concluded Ling Jiu was definitely an Ultimate Arcanist.
At least Ling Jiu was not physically inferior to any Ultimate Arcanist.
The Ultimate Arcanist...
How many Ultimate Arcanists were there in the entire matriculation camp?
The Ultimate Arcanists were the monsters, the most terrifying beings in the Ultimate Matriculation Camp. How could he dare to mess with them?
So he gave in to Ling Jiu’s request with no hesitation. As important as the Direbeast carcasses and points were, they were insignificant compared to his dear life.
Hiram handed over all the monster carcasses and points before he left the place like a bat out of hell.
“He is fast when it comes to fleeing.”
Ling Jiu snorted and looked at the two veteran trainees. “What about you guys?”
The two exchanged a look with each other and nodded in unison. When even a 29th-ranked Arcanist like Hiram was abused by Ling Jiu. What could they do?
Hand everything over...
The two released all the Direbeast carcasses from their Dimensional Pockets and transferred all their points to Ling Jiu.
“You guys can get lost now!”
Ling Jiu waved them away.
The two left in a whirlwind. How they wished they had grown an extra pair of legs.
“Trash!”
Ling Jiu hissed. He glanced at the microcomputer. After robbing Hiram and others of their points, he had now accumulated 600,000 points.
From zero to 600,000...
That growth rate was unprecedented!
Bai Ya was planting trees again when Ling Jiu returned to the forest. Seeing Ling Jiu coming back safely, she quietly breathed a sigh of relief before continuing to plant trees.
...
Hao Shuai returned to the matriculation camp.
Unlike Ling Jiu and Bai Ya, he had been following Ai Xiong, a veteran of the matriculation camp, for the past two weeks. So his transition had been smooth.
He was busy planting trees during the day and practicing self-cultivation in Ai Xiong’s forest at night.
After absorbing the mysterious energy produced by the Arcana trees, Hao Shuai felt that his strength had undergone tremendous changes in just two weeks.
His Time Halt, Blink Arcana, and Super Physique were much more powerful.
“Ling Jiu, if I run into you next time, I will definitely beat you!”
Hao Shuai quietly clenched his fist as he went up to the scoreboard, looking at the standings as usual.
The Arcana trees he first planted had survived. Today, he had asked the camp staff to assess and count his work, which meant he had also received points.
He was eager to know which place he had climbed to. He felt ashamed for his previous 0 points on the third-from-last ranking.
How could he, Hao Shuai, get such a low ranking?
“No. 164 is still too low.”
He frowned upon seeing his name on the scoreboard. He was not too happy about it. He then squinted to find the two names, especially Ling Jiu’s, below his.
“Where is Ling Jiu’s name?”
He was startled.
