Chapter 250: Devouring Everything, the Beast Tide Recedes

Chapter 250: Devouring Everything, the Beast Tide Recedes

This was a like-no-other massacre of direbeasts and also an unprecedented gluttonous feast.

On one side was a torrent of brutal and powerful Insectoids.

On the other side was an outnumbered loner, Ling Jiu.

It stood to reason that the two sides were not on the same level in terms of number. This was an asymmetrical battle, but the result was completely opposite.

Ling Jiu was outnumbered, yet he slaughtered the Insectoid army. Those bug corpses, blood, broken limbs, and body parts were the best proof.

“Is he even a human? He is more like a killing machine!”

“Can we humans be so powerful?”

“He is too powerful, too brutal, too cruel! I swear, he is the most brutal arcanist I have ever seen. No one even comes close.”

“Idol! He is my idol! I want to become like him in the future, ripping direbeasts barehanded, smashing direbeasts with the stone, killing direbeasts with bullets that could change directions mid-flight, and striking direbeasts with thunder hidden in the crotch. I want to become a man like him, no matter what!”

“So charming! How can someone be so charming?”

The scene of Ling Jiu slaughtering the Insectoid army was shocking, awe-inspiring, exciting, and full of adrenaline rush.

Countless people cheered and danced.

Countless students were motivated.

Countless girls admired him like crazy.

Meanwhile, the battle continued.

Ordinary direbeasts would fear and despair when encountering such an unbeatable enemy, but not the Insectoid army.

They were relentless and not scared of death. They attacked incessantly as if they knew no fear.

No matter how many of their company Ling Jiu had killed, and the amount of bug corpses and remains on the ground, they could not seem to see them and kept fighting back frantically.

Ling Jiu could not hold back his admiration for their crazy behavior. The reason this Insectoid army was terrifying was not only their individual strength but also, more importantly, their tacit understanding of each other, obedience of orders, and fearlessness.

How could anyone fight, defeat, and repel such a group of direbeasts if the person did not possess an overwhelming strength?

“Since all of you don’t know what despair is, I will let you despair for real this once.”

Ling Jiu soared into the air and then hovered over 500 meters high in the air. Looking down at the Insectoid army that was still rushing forward, he took a deep breath, then opened his mouth in a Devourer.

The familiar black hole appeared again. But this time, the diameter of it reached an astonishing 10 kilometers, covering most of the battlefield.

“He pulled the same move again—the one that just swallowed over a dozen Reapers!”

Everyone recognized the black hole almost in unison when it appeared in the sky. The scene of Ling Jiu swallowing a dozen giant dragonflies had left a deep impression on them.

As the terrifying suction force came out of the black hole, nothing on Earth could escape. Everything was pulled into it.

Everything that was nearby the black hole, be it the Insectoid army, or the broken limbs and body parts on the ground, were swallowed.

I horrified people to see the Insectoid army rising into the air and then plunging into the black hole.

The ground below the black hole became a vacuum zone, where not a single bug or a broken limb was left in just a few seconds.

Only the greenish blood all over the place silently told of the tragic scene.

Everyone gasped.

“It is gone. It is all gone!”

“The black hole has swallowed them all!”

“Horrifying! It’s really horrifying!”

“He swallowed so many direbeasts at once. How did he do that? Where have those direbeasts gone? Can his stomach really take in all that?”

Could he?

Of course, he could.

There might be many Insectoids, but they would not last long before being converted into pure vitality in the Inner World.

Due to their sheer number, the level of converted vitality was so high that Ling Jiu felt as if he was going to explode.

So he needed to vent his vitality.

He wanted to vent freely.

“Kill!”

So the massacre began again.

A frenzied massacre like the previous one unfolded again under the watchful eyes of 200 million people. But it was a pity that no matter how crazy things went, it was impossible to repeat the level of craziness as before.

This was because the number of Insectoids had declined tremendously. In other words, there were almost no direbeasts in sight on the beach. The Insectoids were now present in the sea only.

Ling Jiu lunged into the sea to greet the coming Insectoid army.

He smashed those Insectoids one by one. Bug blood was dyeing the seawater green as a massive number of broken limbs, intestines, and other internal organs had fallen into the ocean. The fish in the ocean was having a feast.

“That’s too brutal! I have seen no one as brutal as this guy!”

A shaggy arcanist stood on the city wall and looked down with horror at the situation in the sea. “Does anyone know him?”

“Never know him.”

“Never met him before.”

Everyone around shook their heads.

“It shouldn’t be. How could no one know such a powerful stellar big brother?” The shaggy, burly man was puzzled.

“I know him!”

A voice spoke just then. The shaggy man and the arcanists in the surroundings looked over at that person.

It was a young guy, probably 21 or 22. Right now, he had a complicated expression on his face.

“You know him, mate?”

The shaggy, brawny man was curious and quickly asked, while everyone else stared at the young guy.

The young guy gave a wry smile. “His name is Ling Jiu, an Ultimate Matriculation Camp trainee. Well, he just joined the Ultimate Matriculation Camp recently.”

“An Ultimate Matriculation Camp trainee?” The shaggy, brawny man was taken aback with a suspicious look on his face. “It can’t be, mate. How can an Ultimate Matriculation Camp trainee be so powerful?”

“Ling Jiu is indeed a trainee there. I can’t be wrong.” The young guy forced a smile. “Just that I can’t tell why he is so powerful. This guy has always been very mysterious.”

“He is really an Ultimate Matriculation Camp trainee?”

Everyone looked at each other.

“Who cares? Whoever he is, after today’s battle, he will be famous internationally as the most powerful arcanist in the world.”

The shaggy, brawny man had a serious look on his face. “He has single-handedly fought off the direbeast invasion today. He saved us and the two hundred million residents of Bao’an Base City. He is our lifesaver, and even more so, the hero of Huaxia.”

“Well said!”

The others nodded in agreement.

He single-handedly fought off the Insectoid army and saved Bao’an Base City.

Who was the hero if not a person like him?

Yang Ling’er’s beautiful eyes flickered with light, her heart fluttering when she heard people praising and respecting her brother. “Did you hear that, Ling Jiu? You’re a hero.”

Meanwhile, Ling Jiu suddenly found that those Insectoids no longer attacked but retreating after he beat them to a pulp.

They were fleeing to the deeper part of the ocean in a scattered formation.

What Ling Jiu the most was not their attack but fleeing.

After chasing them for a while, Ling Jiu could only watch as the remaining Insectoids scuttled away. He was not the Monkey King who could make 100,000 clones of himself with vellus hair to pursue the Insectoids.

“Forget it. I will let them go this time.”

Ling Jiu gave up pursuing and flew back toward the base city. The three stellar big brothers came up to greet him with an enthusiastic smile on their faces.

How could they not be enthusiastic? They admired Ling Jiu for his ability. More so because Ling Jiu had single-handedly ward off the Insectoid army and saved Bao’an Base City.

Ling Jiu was apparently better than them.

“At first, I was wondering, when we ever had such a powerful stellar being on Earth. I didn’t expect it to be you, Brother Ling.”

The gray-haired old man held out his hand with full enthusiasm. “My name is Yuan Hua, a Huaxia native. Thank you for fighting off the Insectoid army and saving Bao’an Base City.”

“They are all human beings. How can I see my own kind dying and do nothing?”

Ling Jiu let out a faint smile and held out his hand to shake the old man’s hand.

“You are so badass, Brother Ling. You single-handedly fought off the entire Insectoid army.” The bald, browny guy also held out his hand with admiration. “Wei Zhang, from Huaxia, too. I am glad to meet you.”

“Glad to meet you, too.” Ling Jiu returned a smile.

“My name is Bai Guixiang. Glad to meet you.” The red-haired girl also held out her hand.

“Glad to meet you, too.”

As the four came to the city wall, the leaders of the military command in charge of the battle quickly came up to greet them with praises and thank you.

“We wouldn’t have survived this battle without you. Do you know that, Brother Ling?”

“This Insectoid army has destroyed over a dozen mega and large base cities and killed countless people. No base city could ever fight and defeat them.”

The head of Bao’an Military District clasped Ling Jiu’s hands. “People saw the Insect army as invincible and all destructive. The Insectoids represent death, disaster, and blood. Some people with ulterior motives call the Insectoids the coming of the demons. But today, Bao’an Base City has fought them off, and you, Brother Ling, have been taking no prisoners in the battle against the Insectoids. I believe that when news gets out, it will inspire and strengthen people’s confidence in fighting the Insectoid army.”

“I was just doing my job.”

Ling Jiu was very humble. “As everyone has seen, the Insectoid army is not as terrifying as imagined. As long as we are united, we can wipe out the Insectoid army, and even chase them down to their lairs and uproot them.”

There was light in the eyes of the Bao’an Military District head. “Well said, Brother Ling. We must not only eliminate the Insectoid army but also chase them down to their lair and uproot them.”

After exchanging some pleasantries with the big guys, Ling Jiu could finally make himself scarce and walk toward Ling’er at the city gate. People were casting looks of admiration and awe at him as he went.

“Ling Jiu!”

Yang Ling’er jumped into his arms and burst into tears. She did not know why she had cried. It could have been in fear, emotional, or simply excitement.

It did not matter which it was; she just cried.

“Don’t cry, girl.”

Ling Jiu patted her shoulder to comfort her. She heard Ling Jiu and cried even louder. Ling Jiu could do nothing but just let her go on with it.

After crying for a long while, she finally calmed down. “Shouldn’t you be in Modu Base City, Ling Jiu? Why are you here?”

“I am worried about you, so I come,” Ling Jiu said with a smile. “By the way, I have brought you a gift.”

“A gift?” Her eyes flickered. “What gift?”
