Chapter 152: Perfect tool to set an example
Leaving Elena behind and heading inside, Blake paused for a moment, gazing out at the vast expanse of the ocean stretching out before him. The rhythmic sound of the waves crashing against the shore soothed his troubled mind, if only for a moment.
With all he had learned for the day about how terrible Elena was, he couldn't reconcile that such a sweet-looking person could be capable of such deeds. While she occasionally gave off a psycho killer vibe, Blake couldn't help but consider that there was a chance she missed her lover, which was him, and wanted nothing more than for him to regain his memories.
However, he couldn't afford to just judge now based on what he had heard from Nana. At the same time, he wasn't going to dismiss his gut feelings about Elena. There was something about her that didn't sit right with him, something lurking beneath her charming facade.
With a sigh, Blake shook his head, pushing aside his conflicting thoughts. He knew that he needed to tread carefully, to uncover the truth behind Elena's intentions without jumping to conclusions. After all, the last thing he wanted was to find himself caught in the middle of a dangerous game with no way out.
As Blake made his way back into the beach house, he almost collided with Drake. Drake's cold gaze met Blake's, and he gave a curt nod before sidestepping him and continuing towards the beach where Elena stood.
A shiver ran down Blake's spine as he watched Drake's retreating figure. There was something about the man that unsettled him, something dark and foreboding that lurked beneath his icy exterior.
He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but every interaction with Drake left him feeling uneasy. It was as if Drake regarded him as nothing more than prey, sizing him up with his piercing stare.
Blake shook his head, trying to push aside his apprehension. After all, Drake was just one of Elena's aides, a mere servant in her household. But deep down, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Drake than met the eye.
As he entered the beach house, Blake couldn't help but steal a glance back at the beach, where Elena and Drake stood silhouetted against the setting sun. There was an air of mystery surrounding them, a darkness that seemed to linger in the shadows.
With a sigh, Blake pushed the thoughts from his mind and focused on the task at hand. There were mysteries to uncover and secrets to unravel, and he couldn't afford to be distracted by presence of Drake.
Meanwhile, Elena and Drake remained by the beach, the crimson hues of the setting sun casting an ethereal glow around them. Drake approached her, his gaze steady as he asked, "What did you find out from our guest?"
Elena turned to face him, her expression unreadable as she observed the waves crashing against the shore. "He's becoming too elusive for my liking," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of frustration. "He spins lies with such ease, as if he's dancing around the truth. It's unsettling."
Drake nodded in understanding, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "We can't afford to let him slip through our fingers," he remarked, his tone laced with determination. "We need to find a way to regain control over him before it's too late."
Elena's lips curved into a sly smile, her eyes gleaming with a dangerous glint. "Don't worry, Drake," she said, her voice dripping with confidence. "I have a plan. And once it's set into motion, our guest won't know what hit him."
Elena turned her gaze towards Drake, her eyes gleaming with a curious intensity. "Have you managed to identify the woman he meets with?" she inquired, her voice tinged with anticipation.
Drake nodded in affirmation, his expression composed yet determined. "Yes, I have," he replied, his tone clipped. "Shall I proceed to deal with her accordingly?"
A faint smile graced Elena's lips as she shook her head slowly. "Not just yet, dear Drake," she murmured, her voice tinged with a hint of amusement. "I have other plans for her."
Drake arched an eyebrow inquisitively, silently urging her to elaborate.
Elena's smile widened, a glint of mischief dancing in her eyes. "She shall serve as a cautionary tale," she explained, her tone laced with subtle menace. "A reminder to the villagers of the consequences of defying us. We shall make an example of her, and in doing so, assert our dominance over them."
Drake nodded in understanding, a shadow of approval crossing his features. "As you wish, my lord," he murmured, his voice tinged with deference.
With a regal nod, Elena turned her attention back to the horizon, her mind already plotting the next move in her intricate game.
After his long day of exploration, Blake retreated to his room in the beach house, seeking solace in the simple act of cleansing. He indulged in a soothing bath, the warm water washing away the dust and fatigue of the day, leaving him feeling refreshed and invigorated.
Once he emerged from the bath, he dressed himself in a fresh set of clothes, relishing the sensation of clean fabric against his skin. As he ran a hand through his damp hair, he couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation for the evening ahead.
Just as he finished tidying up his appearance, Elena gracefully entered the room, her presence commanding attention. Her keen gaze swept over him, and a subtle smile tugged at the corners of her lips.
"You smell delightful," she remarked, her voice smooth and velvety. "After dinner, we shall engage in a little game, if you're up for it."
Blake's curiosity was piqued, and he met Elena's gaze with a mixture of intrigue and apprehension. "A game?" he echoed, his tone laced with curiosity. "What kind of game?"
Elena's smile widened into a mischievous grin, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Oh, you'll see," she replied cryptically, her voice tinged with excitement.
