Chapter 230: Seeing a ghost
Chapter 230: Seeing a ghost
Elena found a peculiar satisfaction in playing the long game with Blake. As a vampire, she had the luxury of time on her side, an eternity to weave her intricate plans and manipulate those around her. Unlike humans, who were bound by the constraints of mortality, Elena was unaging and immortal, free to shape her destiny however she pleased.
She relished the challenge of molding Blake into the perfect companion, knowing that with patience and persistence, she could bend him to her will. The thought of exerting her influence over him, guiding him down the path she desired, filled her with a sense of power and control that she found intoxicating.
And as for the village girl he had encountered in the forest, Elena saw her as nothing more than a fleeting distraction, a temporary blip on the radar of eternity. Humans, with their short lifespans, were like mayflies in comparison to vampires, their existence fleeting and inconsequential.
In the grand scheme of things, Elena knew that Blake's dalliance with the village girl would be short-lived. Eventually, he would come to realize where his true loyalties lay, and she would be there waiting for him, ready to claim him as her own.
For Elena, eternity was hers to command, and she intended to make the most of it. With Blake by her side, she would reign supreme, a queen among mortals and immortals alike.
With a sly smile, Elena rose from her seat and sauntered over to where Blake was seated, moving with a deliberate grace that accentuated her every movement. She knew the effect her presence had on him, the way his eyes followed her every step.
As she drew closer, she could sense the tension in the air, the subtle undercurrent of desire and anticipation that hung between them. It was a game they played, a game of power and manipulation, and Elena was determined to come out on top.
She delicately plucked a raspberry from the bowl on the table, bringing it to her lips with a seductive smile. Chewed it slowly, savoring the sweetness, all the while maintaining eye contact with Blake. With deliberate grace, she seated herself on his lap, her fingers trailing through his hair as she leaned in close.
"It's good to have you back again, Blake," she murmured, her voice low and husky. "Your absence was quite terrible for both me and the household. You know, I missed our little chats while you were out. It's not often I get to spend quality time with you,"
She leaned in closer, her breath warm against his ear, her words dripping with allure.
Elena plucked another raspberry from the bowl, her gaze fixed on Blake as she popped it into her mouth. With a playful smile, she turned her attention to him.
"How are you feeling, Blake?" she asked, her voice laced with a hint of concern as she reached out to gently brush her fingers over the scar on his head.
She couldn't help but notice the meticulousness with which he had combed his hair to cover the scar, and the unusual neatness of his attire. It was a departure from his usual casual style, a detail that piqued her curiosity.
Drawing closer to him, Elena took in the scent of his hair and neck, noting the faint aroma of perfume. It was a surprising departure from Blake's usual demeanor, and she found herself intrigued by the change.
As she lingered close to him, a mischievous glint danced in her eyes. Despite the unexpected shift in his appearance and scent, she couldn't deny that he still held an undeniable allure. The question lingered in her mind, tantalizing and tempting: would he taste as good as he smelled?
"My head's just pounding a bit," Blake admitted, rubbing his temple with a grimace. "But it's nothing to worry about, really."
As Blake mentioned his slight headache, Elena observed his expression closely, searching for any signs of discomfort or concern.
"It's nothing," Blake reassured her with a casual wave of his hand.
Elena nodded, accepting his response, though a flicker of doubt lingered in her mind. She extended a raspberry towards him, a small offering of hospitality. But to her surprise, Blake insisted, "I'd prefer if you fed it to me."
Apologies for that oversight. Let me revise it:

As Blake mentioned his slight headache, Elena observed his expression closely, searching for any signs of discomfort or concern.
"It's nothing," Blake reassured her with a casual wave of his hand.
She smiled, almost folding in half at his request. Was Blake asking for a kiss but didn't know how? His innocence was oddly intoxicating and should she say, triggering her predatory instincts.
"Very well," she acquiesced, plucking another raspberry and bringing it to her lips.
With a mixture of curiosity and anticipation, Blake watched as she moved closer to him, their gazes locked in a silent exchange.
Blake masked his disdain with a polite nod, reluctantly accepting the raspberry she offered. However, before he could respond to her advances, a knock echoed through the glass partition leading to the beach area.
Elena grudgingly stood up from her seat beside Blake, her annoyance thinly veiled behind a polite smile, as she made her way to the door.
"Ah, Good morning, Tessa. It's wonderful to see you," Elena replied, her tone cordial despite the interruption.
She opened the door for Tessa, gesturing for her to enter with a graceful sweep of her hand. "Please, come in. Make yourself at home," Elena said, her smile unwavering as she ushered Tessa into the room.
Tessa walked into the room with a polite greeting for Elena. "Good morning, madam. I hope you slept well," she said, her voice friendly but with a hint of concern.
"I'm fine, thank you. And how was your night? Did you enjoy your sleep? Oh! Would you care to join us for breakfast? As you can see you're right on time," Elena offered, her invitation laced with a hint of courtesy.
Tessa politely declined with a gracious smile. "Thank you, madam but I'm not here for breakfast. I actually came to discuss an issue I had this morning," she explained, her tone polite yet firm as she redirected the conversation to the purpose of her visit.
Elena's smile faltered slightly as Tessa redirected the conversation. "Of course. But like I told you, it's Elena, the name is Elena. Now, I hope there's no problem," Elena asked nicely despite her inner annoyance at the interruption.
Tessa smiled before continuing; "Right, Elena. I just wanted to discuss the issue I had with the bathroom door at my lodge this morning. It seems to be quite stiff, and I had trouble opening it," Tessa continued, her tone shifting slightly as she voiced her displeasure about the services.
However, as her gaze moved across the room, it landed on Blake, who was calmly eating a pancake. Suddenly, her expression shifted, her eyes widening in disbelief, and she fell silent, her words trailing off as if she had just seen a ghost.
