MY SUGAR MUMMY IS A BEAUTIFUL VAMPIRE

Chapter 247: Time to make our move

Chapter 247: Time to make our move

The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the deserted beach as Blake stirred from his restless slumber. The rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the shore filled the air, mingling with the gentle rustle of palm trees in the ocean breeze.

Something felt off, a nagging sense of unease that gnawed at Blake's subconscious as he struggled to shake off the remnants of sleep. Memories from earlier that day flooded his mind, a whirlwind of emotions and long-buried recollections that left him feeling raw and vulnerable.

With a heavy sigh, Blake pushed himself out of bed and padded downstairs to the living room of the sprawling condo. His bare feet whispered against the cool tile floor as he made his way to the fridge, a familiar sense of déjà vu washing over him.

Pulling open the refrigerator door, Blake reached for the carton of milk and poured himself a generous glass. The cool liquid soothed his parched throat as he drank, the simple act providing a brief respite from the turmoil raging within him.

But as he set the empty glass down on the counter, something caught his eye – the front door was ajar, a sliver of darkness beckoning from beyond.

Frowning in confusion, Blake glanced around the room, searching for any sign of intruders. But the condo remained eerily silent, its walls shrouded in shadows that seemed to dance and shift with each passing moment.

With a sense of trepidation gnawing at his insides, Blake made his way to the door and pushed it open, stepping out onto the moonlit beach. The sand was cool beneath his feet, the ocean stretching out before him like an endless expanse of darkness.

For a moment, Blake stood there, scanning the shoreline for any sign of life. But the beach remained deserted, the only sound the distant cry of seabirds echoing in the night.

Next he heard a scream that sounded like something was being killed or something. It was very very feint but he was sure he heard something and it was coming from the forest.

He turned towards the direction and began to walk towards it to investigate.

He made his way quickly towards the forest, careful not to attract the attention of Elena who might be in her room sleeping or something.

The moonlit path stretched out before Blake as he ventured deeper into the forest, the distant scream still echoing in his ears. Every step he took seemed to reverberate with a sense of urgency, his heart pounding in his chest as he followed the source of the sound.

The dense canopy overhead cast eerie shadows across the forest floor, the rustle of leaves stirring in the night breeze like whispers of warning. But Blake pressed on, his determination driving him forward despite the creeping sense of unease that gripped him.

As he rounded a bend in the path, he caught sight of a faint glimmer of light flickering amidst the trees ahead. Intrigued, he quickened his pace, his senses on high alert as he drew nearer to the source of the disturbance.

But just as he was about to break through the underbrush and into the clearing beyond, he heard it – the unmistakable sound of footsteps echoing behind him.

Blake froze in his tracks, his pulse quickening as he spun around to confront whoever – or whatever – was following him. His hand instinctively reached for the hilt of the dagger tucked into his belt, his fingers closing around the familiar weight of the blade.

"Who's there?" he called out, his voice echoing through the forest. But there was no response, only the eerie silence of the night broken by the soft rustle of leaves in the wind.

"Blake?" He heard the sound of a female voice calling out to him.

The voice calling out his name cut through the stillness of the night like a knife, sending a shiver down Blake's spine. He turned to see Nana emerging from the shadows, her clothes covered in blood and her face contorted with fear.

"Nana, what happened?" Blake exclaimed, his concern mounting as he rushed towards her.

"I thought...I thought you were dead," Nana remained still on the spot, hands by her side almost like she was about to enter a state of shock.

Blake was just about to ask her what she was talking about. But before he could make up those words, a sudden movement caught his eye.

Out of the darkness emerged three towering figures, their massive forms cloaked in shadow. Even in the dim light, Blake could make out the distinctive shape of their hats and the eerie red glow of their eyes.

His heart hammered in his chest as he recognized them instantly – "Reggie?!" Blake exclaimed, his voice tinged with disbelief.

Tessa sat cross-legged on the floor of her small bedroom, surrounded by piles of crumpled clothing. She was packing up her belongings, preparing to embark on a journey she had been putting off for far too long.

As she methodically folded a worn shirt and placed it in one of the boxes, her gaze drifted to the stack of DVDs lying nearby. Those innocuous discs held the key to unlocking the mystery that had plagued her for years – the strange work her father had been involved in before his untimely demise.

With a trembling hand, Tessa reached for the topmost disc and slid it into her laptop, her heart pounding with a mixture of trepidation and anticipation. The screen flickered to life, revealing her father's familiar face, etched with lines of worry and determination.

"Entry 127," his voice crackled through the tinny speakers. "The experiments are progressing, but at a glacial pace. I fear my time may be running short..."

Tessa leaned in closer, hanging on her father's every word as he detailed his latest findings, his speech punctuated by bursts of static and interference. It was clear these recordings were made in secret, away from prying eyes.

The camera panned towards a bed area revealing rows of beds occupied by pale, frail-looking individuals. Some were hooked up to IV drips, while others lay motionless, their eyes closed in silent suffering.

Suddenly, the camera jerked towards a door, its surface shrouded in darkness. The man's voice continued, his words laden with apprehension.

"And then there's the door," he murmured, his voice tinged with unease. "No one knows what's in there. We're not allowed to go near it. But I can tell you one thing – it gives off a very strong energy. Just being close to it makes a lot of us sick..."

The camera lingered on the door for a moment longer before swiftly turning away, as if afraid to dwell on its ominous presence for too long.
