Chapter 292: Dying is not part of the agenda
Gunther and Randal paced anxiously, Reggie remained seated, his expression grave and contemplative.
Gunther's voice was tense as he spoke up, his frustration evident. "I need to get something straight. Did Damien lie to us about the baby? Did he say it was dead? And if so, why?"
Reggie shook his head slowly, his brow furrowed in concern. "I don't know what Damien's plans are," he admitted, his tone heavy with frustration. "But it's clear there's a conspiracy against Rose. And as I've said before, we have to go back there and carry out the new task Rose assigned."
Randal chuckled grimly, the sound harsh in the tense atmosphere. "You know," he said, his voice laced with bitterness, "I couldn't help but notice that in all our plans, there's no mention of how we're going to rescue Rose."
Gunther's gaze turned sharply to Reggie, his eyes piercing as he awaited an explanation. "Are you suggesting we leave Rose behind, at the mercy of that bastard Damien?" he demanded, his voice laced with a mix of anger and disbelief.
The tension in the room was palpable as Randal and Gunther stared at Reggie, waiting for an answer that would satisfy their mounting concerns.
Reggie's response came slowly, his voice tinged with determination. "It's what Rose wanted," he stated firmly. "So we're going to proceed with her plan, even if she's not with us."
Randal and Gunther exchanged incredulous glances, their expressions betraying their shock at Reggie's words. It was clear they were taken aback by his decision. If they didn't know him so well, they might have suspected he was under some sort of mind control.
"How can you suggest we leave Rose in the hands of Damien for good?" Gunther demanded, his voice thick with disbelief.
The door to the room burst open, and Blake stormed in, his anger palpable in the air.
"Bullshit," he spat, his voice laced with fury. "Just because Reggie suggested it doesn't mean we're actually going to leave Rose in Damien's hands."
Reggie, Gunther, and Randal turned to Blake, their expressions a mix of surprise and bewilderment at his sudden entrance.
Randal spoke up, his tone skeptical. "Were you eavesdropping on our conversation?" he demanded.
Blake let out a derisive laugh. "Is that even the main issue here?" he retorted, his gaze piercing. "The real issue is that Reggie found Rose and didn't tell any of us. How could you keep this from me?"
Gunther attempted to intervene, but Blake cut him off sharply, accusing him of being complicit in Reggie's silence.
Facing Reggie directly, Blake's voice softened slightly, but the disappointment was clear. "I thought you'd do better," he said, his words heavy with hurt. "I thought you'd tell me if you found her. But you kept it from me."
Reggie reached out to place a hand on Blake's shoulder, but Blake roughly shrugged it off, his eyes blazing with frustration. "You don't understand," Reggie began, but Blake interrupted him, his voice strained.
"Don't tell me I don't understand," Blake snapped. "I know exactly what it feels like to be hopeless."
"It's like being a sitting duck, waiting for someone to come and save you," he confessed, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Always, Rose would be the one to rescue me, to be my knight in shining armor. But now the roles are reversed, I can't just sit back and watch her suffer at the hands of Damien."
His voice cracked as he continued, the weight of his emotions bearing down on him. "To you all, Rose may be your master, but to me, she's much more than that, she's everything. She's the love of my life, and I won't stand idly by while she's in danger."
Tears streamed down Blake's cheeks, his resolve unwavering as he locked eyes with Reggie. "We're going to rescue Rose, whether you like it or not," he declared, his voice firm with determination.
In the midst of the intense conversation, the door creaked open, and Nana stepped into the room, bleary-eyed from sleep. She blinked in confusion at the scene unfolding before her, taking in the tense atmosphere and the tear-streaked faces of her companions.
"What's going on?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern as she approached the group.
Reggie's hand waved dismissively as he tried to placate Nana. "It's nothing, Nana. Just a little disagreement. You should go back to bed," he urged, hoping to diffuse the situation.
But Nana remained rooted to the spot, her expression unwavering. "No, Reggie. Something's not right. I can feel it," she insisted, her voice tinged with worry.
Before Reggie could respond, Blake's voice cut through the air, eyes burning red with unadulterated anger and his tone laced with fury. "Go back to bed, Nana. This doesn't concern you," he commanded, his eyes burning with an otherworldly intensity.
Instantly, Nana's entire demeanor shifted completely at Blake's words. Like a marionette being controlled by unseen strings, she turned and walked back to her room, her movements mechanical and devoid of emotion.
The others watched in stunned silence as Nana obeyed Blake's command without question. A heavy tension hung in the air, the shock of what they had just witnessed settling over them like a suffocating blanket. They exchanged uneasy glances, uncertain of what to make of the unsettling display of power.
Reggie's voice was calm but firm as he tried to reason with Blake. "Blake, you need to calm down. Your anger won't help us right now."
But Blake cut him off, his tone sharp and defiant. "Don't speak to me, Reggie. You don't understand," he snapped, his eyes flashing with intensity.
Reggie took a step forward, his expression earnest. "I understand more than you think, Blake. But we need to approach this mission with clear heads. Your recent outburst with Nana—"
Blake's laughter cut through Reggie's words, a bitter, almost manic sound. "You think I don't know that? You think I'm not aware of the risks? But this is Rose we're talking about. I'll do whatever it takes to save her," he declared, his voice filled with determination.
Reggie shook his head, his tone grave. "Blake, your emotions are clouding your judgment. We can't afford any mistakes on this mission. Lives are at stake, including yours," he cautioned.
But Blake's resolve remained unwavering. "I don't care about the risks. I'll do whatever it takes to see Rose again," he insisted, his eyes burning with a fierce determination.
Reggie sighed, knowing that he couldn't change Blake's mind. But he couldn't help feeling a sense of apprehension at the thought of what lay ahead. With emotions running high and tensions escalating, the mission to rescue Rose was shaping up to be more dangerous than any of them had anticipated.
Reggie's tone was firm as he addressed Blake. "Blake, we all share your concern for Rose, but we have to approach this with caution. Dying is not part of our agenda. Sacrifices must be made only when absolutely necessary."
Blake's eyes narrowed, his frustration evident. "And what do you suggest, Reggie? That we sit back and do nothing while Rose remains in danger?"
Reggie shook his head, his expression grave. "No, of course not. We need a plan, one that minimizes the risks. Your emotions, as understandable as they are, will only hinder our ability to execute that plan effectively."
Blake's fists clenched at his sides, but he remained silent, his mind churning with conflicting emotions. Deep down, he knew Reggie was right, but the thought of leaving Rose in danger gnawed at him like a festering wound.
Reggie placed a reassuring hand on Blake's shoulder. "We'll find a way to save Rose, Blake. But we have to do it smartly, without putting ourselves in unnecessary danger. Can you trust me on this?"
Blake hesitated for a moment, then nodded reluctantly. "I trust you, Reggie. But if anything happens to Rose because of our inaction..."
Reggie squeezed Blake's shoulder reassuringly. "We won't let that happen, Blake. I promise."
"So what's the plan and where do I come in?" Blake asked, now calm and ready to listen.
"The plan is simple," Reggie replied with a smirk. "We won't let anything happen to Rose. And I'm sorry, but I have to do this." Reggie's smirk twisted into a sinister grin.
