MY SUGAR MUMMY IS A BEAUTIFUL VAMPIRE

Chapter 320: Enjoy while it lasts

Chapter 320: Enjoy while it lasts

Elena reclined in a plush velvet armchair in her opulent sitting room, a crystal glass filled with an expensive cocktail dangling from her perfectly manicured fingers. She took a slow sip, savoring the complex notes of the aged liquor as her cold eyes scanned the dimly lit space. Across from her sat Drake, her most trusted aide and confidant.

"We have been far too patient, Drake," Elena declared, her voice smooth as silk but laced with an undercurrent of malice. "Lying low, biding our time while Blake and that insipid Rose go about their lives, blissfully unaware of the reckoning that awaits them."

Drake leaned forward, his chiseled features illuminated by the flickering light of the fireplace. "What would you have us do, my lord? The incident on the island did not go as planned. Blake survived, and now he and Rose will be on high alert."

A mirthless chuckle escaped Elena's lips. "Oh, my dear Drake, don't you see? Their guard is up, yes, but that only makes the game more exciting." She set her glass down on the mahogany side table with a delicate clink. "It's time to strike, to make them pay for every loss, every humiliation we have suffered at their hands."

Drake's eyes narrowed. "Revenge is a dish best served cold. We must be calculated, precise in our approach. One misstep could unravel everything we've worked for. We barely made it out alive the last time," Drake said, recollecting how it had been months before he finally found Elena since she had left without him.

Elena took another sip of her cocktail, the silence heavy with tension as she absorbed Drake's cautious words. Her expression remained impassive, but beneath her controlled demeanor, impatience simmered like a tightly coiled spring.

"Drake," she said sharply, setting her glass down with deliberate precision. "Enough of your excuses. You speak of collective failure, but let me remind you—"

She rose from her chair, crossing the room to stand directly in front of Drake. Her gaze bore into him, piercing and cold. "There is no 'we' in failure. If you had perished on that island, it would have been a reflection of your inadequacy, not mine."

Drake's jaw clenched, his features tightening with the weight of her words. He remained silent, his head bowed in resignation as Elena continued her verbal assault.

"I do not tolerate incompetence, Drake," she continued, her voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "You are my knight, my aide. Your role is to execute my commands flawlessly, without hesitation or error."

She circled around him slowly, her heels clicking against the marble floor, each step emphasizing her authority. "If Rose's knight had succeeded in eliminating you, it would have been a disgrace to my name," she spat, her tone laced with disdain. "I have entrusted you with my ambitions, and I expect nothing less than absolute loyalty and competence."

Drake remained still, his silence a stark acknowledgment of her disappointment. He had failed her, and he knew it. Elena's words cut deep, each sentence a calculated jab at his competence and dedication.

"But," Elena's voice softened slightly, a deceptive calm settling over her. "You are still here, Drake. You have the chance to redeem yourself."

She stopped in front of him again, forcing him to meet her unwavering gaze. "Prove to me that my trust in you is not misplaced," she commanded, her tone commanding yet tinged with a hint of begrudging respect. "We have a war to wage, and failure is not an option."

Drake nodded slowly, a flicker of determination crossing his face. "I understand, my lord," he replied evenly, his voice steadier now. "I will not fail you again."

Elena regarded him for a moment longer, her expression unreadable. "See that you don't," she said finally, her voice a stark reminder of the consequences of failure.

With that, she turned away, resuming her seat in the armchair as if nothing had transpired. The room was once again filled with the soft crackling of the fireplace and the muted ambiance of her opulent surroundings.

"Now about the plans," she said, resuming a wicked smile. It was scary to think that the woman who had just lost it a moment ago was now back to this sublime state she operated in.

"You underestimate me, Drake. I have a plan, one that will bring Blake and Rose to their knees, begging for mercy that will never come."

"What exactly do you have in mind?" Drake asked, his curiosity piqued.

Elena turned to face him, a cruel smile playing at the corners of her lips. "We start by targeting those closest to them. Rose's beloved knights, Reggie, Gunther, and Randal. They are her defense, her armor."

Drake nodded slowly, a glimmer of understanding in his eyes. "We use them as leverage, to force Rose's hand."

"Precisely," Elena purred. "But that's only the beginning. Blake, poor, tortured Blake, he has endured so much already. I want him to suffer, to feel the depth of despair that I have felt. And what better way to break a man than to take away everything he holds dear?"

Drake leaned back in his chair, studying Elena's face. "You speak of destroying him utterly, leaving him a hollow shell of his former self."

"Yes," Elena breathed, her eyes alight with malicious glee. "I want him to know the agony of loss, to watch helplessly as his world crumbles around him. Only then, when he is at his lowest, will I grant him the mercy of death."

A heavy silence settled over the room, broken only by the crackling of the fire. Drake cleared his throat, a hint of concern in his voice. "Elena, this path you're proposing, it's dangerous. The risks involved-"

"Are worth it," Elena snapped, her gaze fierce. "I have sacrificed too much, endured too many setbacks to turn back now. Blake and Rose will pay for what they've done, and I will savor every moment of their suffering."

Drake bowed his head, acknowledging the steel in Elena's resolve. "As you wish. I will begin making the necessary preparations."

Elena smiled, a cold, calculating expression that sent a shiver down Drake's spine. "Good. Keep me informed of your progress. And Drake?"

He met her gaze, unwavering. "Yes, my lord?"

"Do not fail me. The consequences would be...unpleasant."

With that, Elena turned back to the window, her mind already racing with the intricacies of her vengeful plot. She could almost taste the sweetness of victory on her tongue, the satisfaction of seeing Blake and Rose brought low, groveling at her feet.

As Drake silently departed the room, Elena allowed herself a moment of triumphant reflection. She had waited so long for this opportunity, endured countless indignities and setbacks. But now, the pieces were finally falling into place.

Rose and Blake thought themselves safe, protected by their love and the loyalty of those around them. But they had no idea of the storm that was gathering on the horizon, the fury that Elena was about to unleash upon them.

She picked up her glass once more, taking a deep, satisfying sip of her cocktail. The first phase of her plan was already in motion. It was only a matter of time before everything Rose and Blake held dear came crashing down around them.

Elena's lips curved into a wicked smile as she imagined the look of despair on their faces when they realized the true extent of her revenge. They would beg for mercy, plead for their lives, but it would be too late.

She had them right where she wanted them, totally unaware. She would not rest until she had extracted every last ounce of suffering from their pitiful existence.

The game was on, and Elena held all the cards. Rose and Blake's days were numbered, and soon, very soon, they would learn the true meaning of pain and loss.

Elena set her glass down with a sense of finality, her eyes glittering with malevolent anticipation. The wheels were in motion, and there was no turning back now. She would see this through to the bitter end, no matter the cost.
