280 Bonding Through The Ages (4)

(Jane’s PoV)

Since we had decided not to take any boys into our group, we didn’t have to wait for anyone and could plan on our strategies for tomorrow’s agenda peacefully. We divided everything according to our own strength and after we’ve done with the planning, we had a light dinner together.

It was supposed to be fun if a couple wasn’t caught trying to enter the woods for their ‘romance’.

It was still the first night, for God’s sake. Why couldn’t they hold themselves properly?

“We didn’t. We went separately, I swear.” The girl denied the accusation strongly. She seemed to be our senior. “I went to the bathroom and bumped into him on my way back. We really didn’t plan to go to the woods together.”

“What were you doing in the bathroom?” A committee member asked her calmly.

“What kind of stupid question was that? Do I have to report my every action in the bathroom?” The girl gave her a nasty stare, but I must admit this member of committee wasn’t someone to trifle with.

Even when she was oppressed by a senior, she could still have her poker face and her eyes didn’t even waver for once.

“Then, did you use the water?” She asked again. I took a peek at her ID card and saw ‘Jingga’ was written on it.

.....

“What? Do you think I’m that dirty not to clean up properly? You’re asking stupid questions, you know that? What year are you in? Tell me. How dare you accuse me of something I didn’t do!”

I rolled my eyes hearing her words. She started to find an excuse, then started to attack aggressively towards Jingga. If I had not known, I would say that her reason was perfect without a flaw. The place where they were caught was indeed on the same direction where the bathroom was, and it was possible to meet other people on the way.

But, she forgot two things -obviously both this girl and her boyfriend was busy planning for their ‘romance’ and missed some of important announcement.

First, the committee member made it very clear that the boys and the girls would be using different bathrooms and they had divided it as well. Girls would be using the ones on the left wing of the camp and boys would be using the ones on the right wing of the camp.

Second, the bathroom that she claimed she had used was actually broken. There was no water inside so no one could use it.

Jingga and the other members must have known about it before hand, that’s why they didn’t bat an eyelid when going with their accusation.

How did I know that? Well, when we went around to find a toilet, we happened to go into this particular toilet and wondered why there was no sign of it being broken.

So, under these two condition, what could possibly be the reason for the boy to go in that direction? And, those who knew that the bathroom couldn’t be used was probably ridiculing her right now.

As the person in the center of attention, the girl herself wasn’t aware that her lies had been exposed the moment she answered the ‘stupid’ questions.

I looked back at the boy’s camp and saw the man wasn’t in good situation either. He really went even more aggressive than his girlfriend as he tried to attack the committee member who was interrogating him. His shouts even reached our ears in the girl’s camp.

But, he was subdued in no time without any casualties from the committee members.

“Since you denied everything, then we have no choice but to send you back. However, since it is already this late, we’re going to process this case tomorrow morning.” Jingga was still as calm as ever and it made me curious about her identity.

I wonder what year was she from.

They handled everything so fast and the boys came to tell Jingga and the others their interrogation result. It was decided that the both of them would be sent back tomorrow and the Dean would be the one who took them there along with two or three other lecturers and committee members.

However, even when they had decided it, some creatures decided on different things. The cold night wind brought uneasiness into the camp. It was getting late at night when the lecturers told us to go to sleep, however I noticed the change in the air. It wasn’t much, but I could still feel it since it was different with the energy emitted by shadows.

How could I not notice when I was more than familiar with this alluring scent of evil?

But, for real? Who would be affected with this thin scent of lust? Who was this creature trying to lure? Judging from how thin it was, it must be nothing to the devil I met in the hot spring. My brain was itchy after thinking about it. Should I act or not?

Our surrounding grew increasingly quiet, save from the sounds of crickets and some nocturnal animals. However, I couldn’t fall asleep now that my mind was disturbed with this aura. I looked towards the other three in the tent and found that they had been asleep for some times. There was no change which meant a good sign. They weren’t affected by the aura, that’s good.

After making sure the three of them were okay, I got up and took a peek outside the tent. It was totally quiet, as if everyone had already succumbed to their dream. Since the aura didn’t seem to be decreasing, I really didn’t have any choice other than to activate my third eye -that’s what people liked to call it- and to check on the campsite to make sure it was safe.

Those guardians of the land didn’t fancy humans who dirtied their lands with vulgar actions. If I could prevent those troublesome old guys to be provoked by some immoral and poor humans who couldn’t afford a hotel room to do their deeds, I thought I should work a bit.

Even if it was caused by their own kind.
