Chapter 4: The Unexpected Roommate (4)
I remembered correctly that I turned off the air conditioner before I left this room yesterday. I froze on where I stood.
Something was off with this room.
Somehow, it was different with the vibe it gave yesterday. And then the thought appeared in my mind.
“Excuse me. Please, let me stay in this place. I won’t disturb you, so please, don’t disturb me. I just want to live peacefully.” I said slowly.[1]
Silent hit the room. I waited for any refusal, but nothing happened. I smiled and bowed in gratitude. “Thank you.” I said softly.
I continued to arrange my stuffs, put it in the right place, and when I finished, I took a bath. After that, I laid on the bed -of course I had put a sheet on it -and stared the ceiling. Slowly my eyes got heavier and I started to close them. Slowly, I fell asleep.
And in my sleep, I dreamed.
.....
......
In my dream...
“Hi...” A boy approached me. I turned my head to look at the source of the voice..
“Hi...” I wasn’t sure how I should react to this person. He was handsome.
No, he was hot!
“I’m Tom. You are Jane, aren’t you?” He handed his hand and I took it as I nodded.
“How do you know?” I asked him as I tilted my head slightly.
He smiled and I couldn’t help but to melt. “You’re living in Rosemary Dorm on the second floor, right?”
His answer made me more confused and curious. “Yes. How do you know?”
“Of course I know. I used to live there, too.” He answered calmly.
My eyebrows arched. “What do you mean?”
“The room you are living in now is used to be my room.” He said again.
I thought for a while, and then my eyes widened in shock as I learned the meaning of his answer. I stared at him, eyes to toes and back again.
“No way. You’re a ghost?” I asked, still in shock.
Tom nodded. “Why? You’re scared?”
“Scared?! Of course no...” I replied hastily. That was true. I didn’t think I was afraid. “Woah... It’s the first time I see a ghost. Great! This is just so great!” I almost shouted in joy.
“You’re not afraid of me?” He frowned.
I shook my head quickly. “Do you have a scary face?”
Tommy shook his head. “Are you really not scared?” He asked in disbelief.
“Yeah. As long as you don’t appear with your scary face.” I grinned. “If I got shocked and got a heart attack, what will you do?”
“You lie. Or is it because you are seeing me in a dream?”
“Eh? Am I dreaming?”
Tom nodded.
“Then, when I wake up later, you should show yourself to me.” I said.
“I’m in front of you now. Why don’t you try to open up your eyes?”
“How?” I blinked.
“Close your eyes then count to three, and then you can open it up again....”
I closed my eyes and counted to three. I felt something strange. I could feel my eyelids moving.
I really was dreaming! It was really a dream!
Then, Tom?
I opened up my eyes slowly. My sight was still blurry, but I could see something was in front of me. The object was getting clearer as I was getting back my sight. As it getting clearer, I could finally see the object in front of me was a man.
He was laying beside me, actually.
“Hi...” He greeted me.
“Tom...” I said his name without realizing it.
Tom smiled as I stared at him. My hand moved to touch him. But, I couldn’t touch him!
He really was a ghost!
