Chapter 62: The Church

Italy. Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum. There were many palaces, temples, and buildings to see. The Leaning Tower of Pisa was also famous.

In particular, there were many churches called cathedrals. With so many tourist attractions, it was crowded with people. So Yuki was very happy.

“Wow! It’s so beautiful! There are so many historical buildings!"

“Well, there are a lot of old buildings here. They're not in a place like Japan, where big earthquakes happen all the time, so they are well preserved.”

As we walked, Yuki enjoyed looking around.

"I remember there was also a Ghibli anime that that was set in Italy.”

I have heard that the building here was the model. I wanted to see it again when I get back! I thought to myself.

“Hey! How far is the Vatican from here?”

“Oh……. Yuki. It’s a whole other country. We vampires are not allowed there. We made a treaty with that country a long time ago. We can’t even go to Rome.”

She replied sadly.

"But only a few people know about it. That's why even if we vampires unexpectedly enter, they won't notice."

Saying that, I stretched out.

“Are you hungry? They have great street food. Wanna try some?”

“Food stalls! Nice!”

Yuki instantly smiled. That's It. That smile suited her the best. We toured the stalls and tasted the food.

“I think it's time for us to go back to the hotel."

Kazuya said. I could certainly feel the hunter’s eyes on me the whole time.

*I think it is better to leave this place*.

"Then, please take this cab.”

Kazuya quickly opened the car door. The driver was a dependent…….. He looked at me with a huge smile, put his hand on his chest and bowed.

“You’re here…It is an honor to meet you, Founder-sama!"josei

He said, his voice trembling.

“We wouldn't be here if it weren't for something really bad. I appreciate the sentiment, but please drive carefully. Hunters are targeting us. You, too, be careful after this."

“I understand. I will see you safely back to your hotel!"

The three of us sat in the back seat with Yuki in between us. It was a little cramped, but I was happy to feel Yuki’s body warmth. Kazuya pushed Yuki toward me.

“Marc-sama. Yuki-sama wo-"

At that moment, a gunshot went off. The car window shattered.

“Kyaaa!”

Yuki screamed. A hunter had targeted me! What were they thinking. In the middle of the city?!"
