Chapter 3: Woozy Numbers And Percentages
Chapter 3: Woozy Numbers And Percentages
[The Ordeal of the Dusk will be approaching in 11 hours_]
"This thing has been ringing in my head nonstop for the past hour…"
[However, due to the absence of the Storytellers in this world, the Random Events will be regulated to spawning a regular amount of Calamity Objects]
"For goodness sake, shut up!!"
[This message will appear invisible to every instances of entities in this world, if you received this sequence of notification, please notify any of the Arbiters to prevent further complications in your immersive playing experience]
"AAAAAA-"
Well, it didn't take more than another hour for me to subconsciously remove the notifications' existence from my mind.
It still existed, but I deluded myself to make it not exist.
Just before this, I possessed a lot of undeniable questions of worries that were haunting me like a mad plague.
Why did I get here? Why am I Narcissus? Why did all of these things even happen to me?
How many times had passed in the actual world? Is this whole deal a dream and I'm somehow comatosed as a convicted murderer?
How are my family doing, my job, my projects…
And all of these worries dwindled thanks to the constant annoyance from the notification that popped up every ten seconds.
"I think I have already secured my foothold in this area." My breath was exhaled in relief as I wiped the dirt away from my hands. "This body is seriously something else."
[Impossibly Dexterous Fingers: This individual possesses an extraordinary level of skill and precision in using their fingers and hands, enabling them to perform delicate and intricate tasks with unparalleled proficiency]
This highlighted trait in the biography section of my detail screen wasn't sugar coated at all.
It was actually unparalleled in terms of efficiency, everything that I imagined of me doing something with these hands was perfectly enacted without a single mistake.
There was also little to no limitation of what these hands could do in terms of speed and precision, to the point that I was convinced that it might not be impossible for me to just catch a flying bullet midair.
"Just with these hands alone, I managed to build a wooden cabin in less than an hour, heh."
My whole section of limbs and torso might be crazy sore and stiff right now, with my palms battered beyond red and bruised because it was very weak despite the godly dexterity—but I managed to prove that these hands were indeed inhumane.
From carving, crafting tools, and all sorts of utilities needed to perform the construction of the cabin, with its furniture, and stiff wooden bed that imitate an actual comfort that I had before this whole shenanigans—
These hands were absurd.
"The day is still far from reaching the night too. Well, thanks to the built-in clock that was persistent in my head."
I could give a small tour to the wooden cabin I made, but I don't think it was something that was as important.
So without further ado…
[<{Biography}> {Inventory} {Health} {Needs} {Social} {Log} {Info}]
When opening my detail screen, there were another six tabs of categories alongside it.
"Can I touch it like an interactive UI? Or do I just need to think of switching the section of the detail screen just like how I opened the detail screen in the first place?"
Nevermind, the latter worked.

Huh, the stick I'm holding got included? If I dropped it, would it also be removed from the equipment?
—Equipment—
[None]
"I guess that is a little bit too obvious, huh."
I could also access the information about the things within the inventory. Detailed information such as the mass, durability, deterioration rate, beauty, flammability, range, potential damage, type of damage, and possibly ten more lines of numbers showcased the moment I prompted to look into the detail of the weapon.
"... That's a lot of numbers and percentages. Like, a lot."
At the least, the description for the item was shorter than I expected.
[Wooden Stick (poor 90%) - 0.1 kg: The Wooden Stick is a rudimentary item that can be used as a basic melee weapon or a tool for simple tasks]
It might be a little bit simplified, though.
"The next is… the Health tab?"

The infodump that I got in the beginning didn't really tell me the values within my own detail screen, but it certainly did give me some hints about how the percentage works.
100% for the Overall Health would be the peak value, while a body that possessed zero wounds or complications would possess 0% value in Pain.
For the Vitals, the value of 100% indicated the average of what I presumed the capability of your ordinary Joe in the real world.
So in my case, 980% in Manipulations just meant that my hand or limbs manipulation were just 9.8 times better than your average human—and also probably the equivalent of having 20-ish hands on your body.
"So my true value should be 1000% for Manipulation, huh. I suppose that is the effect of the Impossible Dexterous Finger trait." I grinned with unfounded pride and curiosity.
And as for the 200% in Hearing, it was probably because of the weird elven-like ears that I got.
I didn't notice the shape of these ears until like—30 minutes after I found myself in this world.
Definitely not because I'm too fixated with the perfection of my face, definitely not.
"I should also start crafting some sort of a mirror~"
There were actually a lot more nuances in this tab, but it would take forever if I dabbled more.
So I just decided to continue appraising the rest of the content.
"As for the rest of the tabs…"
They were a nuke of an informational fest.
Like straight up, numbers and data everywhere.
The Needs tab was as implied by the title, it gave me the information of my overall mood, need for food, beauty, rest, comfort, social, recreation, hygiene, temperature, etc.
To summarize the current state of my Needs: I had 80% of Overall Mood, which was boosted a lot by the fact that I'm a Psychopath in my Highlighted Traits.
"Moving on."
The Social tab showcased my opinion in terms of relationship with other people in this world and what kind of opinion I had for them.
The value of 0 indicates full neutrality, while minus value means that my opinion of them is negative, and anything below -50 means that I just straight up detest them, while anything beyond -100 is full hostility.
However, because I possessed zero relationship, they weren't shown in this tab.
"So I'm not even transmigrated into another person's body, I just straight up got thrown into this world in my current state and form… Either that, or the owner of this body is a full-time hermit with zero interaction with anything that moved."
The Log tab explicitly showed a tidbit of summary of everything that I did with the frequency of one report per hour.
This was a little bit terrifying.
The fact that one could just open the detail screen of someone and get hold of their whole activity without needing to pay for a private investigator…
"Wait, if this is a game world, then won't things like opening a detail screen should be something that only an actual player can perform?"
Because I'm sure that I'm an NPC.
The infodumps told me so, and the fact that I couldn't perform a lot of the functions and features that the forced information told me about what the player could do—I already cemented myself as one.
Could this be related to the reason of why I was haunted by 'that' notification?
Hmm, I lacked a concrete set of evidence to come up with any sort of plausible conclusion.
"With that, there is a single tab left."
Yeah, no. I'm not information savvy enough to read all of the things inside the Info tab.
From my proficiency in things like shootings, construction, crafting, mining, planting, to the IQ of my intelligence—from the mass amount of flesh that I possessed, to the minimum and maximum walking speed and negotiation proficiency…
And that's not even scratching the surface.
"It took me five seconds to scroll all the way down at the highest velocity…"
The only thing I noticed that wasn't told outright was my birthplace and birthday, which reminded me of that one trinket of detail in my biography section.
[Unknown, Female, Age 20(???), Unaffiliated]
The 'Age 20' part was meant to represent the biological age of the vessel, while the brackets showcased the actual age of the soul or mind.
"I guess that will be a mystery for another day." I sighed as I leaned back, swaying back and forth on my rocking wooden chair.
All these intricacies in this so-called VRMMO, something that I couldn't imagine to actually exist in my era.
Even the year before I got transferred into this world as an NPC, the concept of Virtual Reality in the gaming world only amounted to a screen that was turned into a pair of handheld controllers and a heavy giant headset.
Assuming that the players in this world could experience the same thing as I do, then it might be some kind of sci-fi level technology that only exists in those popular deep-dive VRMMO fictions where the digital world and reality couldn't be discernable.
Then again, they might be experiencing this world through the same kind of wacky headgear that I saw in OurTube video once.
Regardless, my curiosity for this 'game' as a whole had reached an all time peak.
"Idling here for a while should increase the value of my overall mood a little bit."
The infodump did tell me the name of the game itself, but it didn't tell me anything beyond that.
"Mmm~ if only I could just open the internet and search it~"
Just as I thought about that, a screen with familiar layouts suddenly appeared right in front of me.
"... Holy shit."
