Chapter 152 - 152. Food Wars
Chapter 152 - 152. Food Wars
[A/N: This chap has crossover from Grandpa Universe. For those who have not read that fic, treat it as random strangers appearing.]
"So, how is the progress? How long before the network is deployed?" Shiroken arrived at the research facility.
They showed him the Heavenly Transfer Technique's small-sized use. They had connected two different places inside the lab with this portal. They put the wire in one portal and it came out of the other.
"The wired network is basically done, we're just working on the computer-related programmes. Once we're done with that, the network will be deployed for people to use. We need a week at most for this." The researchers told him.
Excited, Shiroken was happy with the progress. "Good. I shall await the news of the completion of the project. Haha, I guess all of you are going to get a nice fat bonus this year."
"We do it because we like to serve the clan and the country, Lord Dama. The money is just an incentive to our work." The researchers boasted.
Shiroken laughed and patted his shoulder, "Well, money is what feeds your family and lets you buy a nice big house. There is no harm in making money, but being hungry for money is bad. See you later."
...
After checking the development, he felt in need to eat something so he headed to the nearest Ichiraku Ramen, the world's biggest food franchise. However, as soon as he arrived, he was shocked to find a chubby reddish-brown girl in her 20s, sitting at the counter with 50 empty bowls of ramen in front of her. She was still eating more. There was also a fat cat sitting by her side that had a wide scary grin on the face. The cat too was eating ramen, but they were all fish flavoured.
"What's going on here?" He asked the owner of the shop.
"Ah... Lord Dama, welcome. Well, she's a traveller and... a big eater I guess. Usuals?" The shop owner asked.
Shiroken entered his competitive mode. No one had ever defeated him in eating, "I want 50 Bowls of Ramen, as quick as possible. Call for more staff if you must, I will pay the double price for each bowl."
Hearing him, the girl stopped slurping on the ramen and faced him with a grin, "Hehe, Grandpa told me about you. So, do you think you can eat more than me? Haha, wanna bet?"
Shiroken nodded, "Damn right, what's at stake?"
She thought about it, "Umm... You will have to bathe my cat."
The cat alerted by this, growled at the girl and Shiroken. Then, shockingly, it spoke, "Don't you dare, boy. I am Hats, the God of Chaos and all Cats."
The talking cat was not very shocking to Shiroken, since he had seen a lot of talking animals. They were usually summons. What shocked him was that he couldn't sense any kind of chakra in these two.
"I am Shiroken Dama, ruler of the majority of this planet." He introduced himself.
"I am Rina, got too many surnames so forget that. Do you really want to challenge the Queen of gluttony?" She asked proudly.
"I never back down from a challenge. And you have already eaten so much." Shiroken pointed out.
She chuckled, "Haha, I can eat a thousand more such bowls. Let's start from the beginning then."
"Don't regret it later." Shiroken nodded and ordered for the bowls to come. After a few minutes, both received one bowl each.
*WOOSH*
Both of them immediately ate its contents away like they had taken a breath. The shop owner was shocked and quickly brought the next bowls. The same thing happened and continued to happen.
10 Bowls
100 Bowls
500 Bowls
1000 bowls
They continued to eat with the same competitiveness. A crowd had gathered by now, cheering for Shiroken to win. And surprisingly, neither Shiroken nor Rina seemed full. Their bellies were as before.
However, their competition soon came to an end as the shop owner cried, "NO MORE... LORD DAMA. All our materials are finished. Every single ingredient is finished. PLEASE HAVE MERCY!"
The crowd laughed seeing this. The shop owner made a fortune today, but the cost was too heavy on his body. The man had been making Ramen for hours constantly.
But the war was not at a conclusion yet, "I know another place." Shiroken stood up.
And so, they moved to another shop, then another, and then another. By the end of the day, the entire Dama City knew about this rivalry since all food shops were empty now.
Yet, the fight was not over, and there was nothing left to eat. "You lost," Rina claimed.
Shiroken scoffed, "How? We ate the same amount."
She chuckled, "Fufu... did you forget I was eating at the ramen shop before you came? So, by default, I am the winner. Hats, come here and take your bath."
"NO! NEVER! I'm returning home. Only Grandma has the right to bathe me" Hats disappeared from there.
"Your summon left, the bet is off then," Shiroken stated. But then he asked, "Who exactly are you? Are you someone like me?"
She nodded, "Yes and no, am I an alien? Yes, I am. Am I an alien of this Universe? No. Am I an experiment like you? No. Am I a god like you? Yes."
Shiroken immediately stopped her, "I am no god."
Rina moved closer and patted his shoulder, "Haha, for how long will you reject your destiny? Look around you and tell me you're not a god. A god is not someone with holy power or something like that, a God is someone who is revered and worshipped by the people. A god is someone who takes care of his subjects. And you check that mark as complete.
"You've got a lot of introspection to do, Shiroken Dama. And I hope your journey is full of positivity, Grandpa up there expects great things from you. Bye-bye now."
*WOOSH*
She suddenly flew into the sky straight up and disappeared like a shooting star. Shiroken was left there, unable to speak. But his brain was working just fine. ~Grandpa?~ the scenes from after Nagato's funeral flashed in his mind. ~Was she... related to God? What do they expect from me?~
This was certainly something to find out for later. He scoffed and went back to the royal palace, "Huh, I'm am many things but... not god."
The world had just turned much more mysterious for Shiroken. Is God real? This was one of the biggest questions to the world and to him. He had already found the answer to this, even the second biggest question of "Are we alone?" was answered to him, in the ugliest manner possible.
Still, he wondered what kind of entity was God or Gods? Were they also just another extremely powerful species like the Otsutsuki, or were they truly the masters of creation and destruction?
Where do they live? Do they exist in the same plane of existence as everyone else, or are they entirely different beings? Surprisingly, even after knowing all this, Shiroken was left with more questions than answers.
...
*POOF*
"YO!"
Shiroken, who was sitting in his room, was surprised by a toad appearing in front of him. "You are?"
"I am Gamakichi, son of Gamabunta. Gramps Fukasaku sent me. He said that Great Toad Sage Gamamaru has woken up and wants to see you. He said he had some kind of a prophecy." Gamakichi said jovially.
Shiroken took out his notebook, "Hmm... it seems there is nothing on my schedule. Let's go then, I always used to wonder how your Mount Myoboku looked like, let's see it today then."
"Cool," Gamakichi jumped on top of Shiroken's shoulder vanished in smoke with him.
In an instant, Shiroken appeared in the Sage region. It was full of greenery and a lot of toad statues for some reason. "You don't clean the statues? There are algae on them."
"It's fine, there are too many of them. If we had to clean them it'd take too much time and energy. My father says I need to focus on fighting." Gamakichi said, still sitting on Shiroken's shoulders.
Shiroken, however, didn't move, instead, he closed his eyes and took a long breath. "Ah... this feeling... it feels so fresh here... like Dama Village from my childhood. Natural Energy is so potent here."
He muttered and enjoyed the energy passing through his body. It was true Natural Energy, created due to some geological reason.
*POOF* Fukasaku appeared, "LORD DAMA! STOP! You will end up absorbing all of Mount Myoboku's energy."
Shiroken quickly opened his eyes and faced the old toad. He apologised, "Ah, sorry, I got carried away. It felt too good to take a long breath here."
Fukasaku frowned internally, ~To think a single long breath of his could destroy this sacred mountain. Is he even a human? Isn't he already in the same league as Sage of the Six Paths?~
"Please follow me, my wife has prepared a good dinner for us. I will take you to meet the Great Toad Sage later." Fukasaku led the way. Shiroken happily followed as he wanted to see what Toad cuisine tasted like.
But the poor sweet chakra child had no idea what was in the store for him.
