Chapter 2135: The Will of the Nothing
“Since the whole gang’s here, I will disseminate dao from this location.” Lu Yun suddenly sat down cross-legged and raised a portion of heaven and earth, playing the notes of great dao from it.
He spoke of his cultivation method, the external circulation of heaven and earth, and even the Dragonquake Scripture. Loud and resonant, his voice formed waves of dao notes that traveled through the void.
The void shook as existence upon existence was born. The notes of heaven and earth also rose from them, resonating with Lu Yun’s methods.
The city lords were shocked senseless and the Saviors likewise at a loss. What did this person want by so easily sharing his knowledge?? Didn’t he know that the nothing was a savage and brutal place? Did he have a death wish?
Selfless?
This word didn’t exist in the nothing.
Whether it was the Saviors or city lords, everything everyone did was for themselves—their survival. That was all.
But in this moment, the beings of the nothing luxuriated in the melody of heaven and earth. Unbidden, they began circulating the great dao etched in the notes.
Immortal dao!
Immortal dao was the foundation and basis of all. It was superseded by the external circulation of heavens and earth and the Dragonquake Scripture. If one wanted to cultivate the methods that Lu Yun was sharing, one needed to switch to immortal dao.
The city lords and Saviors resisted the call, but what Lu Yun taught was too compelling. That was a complete dao of heaven and earth! It would enable them to find their footing in the nothing. They would be free of having to run hither and thither or spend their days with the odious ghost zombies!
There was a trace of beguilement in the notes of heaven and earth, compelling those with a weaker mind to relinquish their great dao and join the banner of immortal dao. The Saviors did so the fastest, assimilating into the new dao and exchanging their cultivation level for one under immortal dao.
A seed seemed to appear in the nothing and called the shadow of a massive tree to hover over the new world of immortals, enveloping the world. Countless immortal dao surged from the world and became one with the new immortal dao in the nihil. Thus fortified, immortal dao swiftly developed and grew stronger.
“Stop, stop already!” the Darkness city lord roared with dismay. The city lords around him were changing their personal dao into immortal dao. When they did so, the ghost zombies in their cities of nothing began recovering, reverting back into the living under the nourishment of immortal dao!
He was truly panicking. He was the strongest in the nothing and far stronger than his brethren. No one among the Saviors could compare.
At the moment, he could clearly sense a massive darkening slowly descending upon the nothing. Horrific tomb aura spread through the surroundings, a power that induced despair and was all too familiar.
“The ancient tomb is here… none of us will survive it.” Darkness gnashed his teeth at the still lecturing Lu Yun. “Do you seek to destroy all of creation and consign nothing back to nirvana?”
Lu Yun raised his eyes to the city lord and sighed, “Running from the problem won’t solve anything. As opposed to struggling for gasps of breath, we might as well take a stand and fight to the death.
“The Dao King, mistress, and God have found the way to break the ancient tomb.” He rose and looked squarely at the city lord. “We have a chance if you meld your great dao into immortal dao too and come under the sway of heaven and earth.
“If you insist on going against me, I will kill you first and then…” The young man stopped speaking, instead shifting his gaze to a black, ball-shaped object in his hand.
Nothing.
A concept of nothing at all hovered quietly in Lu Yun’s palm.
“There is no such thing as the Saviors. That faction are but pawns of the ancient tomb,” Lu Yun murmured. “The same goes for you city lords of nothing. You are just knives used to cleanse the nothing.
“Look at what all of you have done. The ancient tomb doesn’t need to act when a new world is born. You refine it into a brick for your cities. This results in decreasing existences in the nothing and fewer living beings. One day, all will be silenced and we exist in a state of nirvana.”
The Darkness city lord started, shock blossoming in his eyes.
“What, what do you mean by that?” His eyes went wide.
“The core of the nothing is objective for no reason at all,” Lu Yun sighed. “It is an absolute stillness, an absolute nihil. Our appearances are but accidents, but the moment we came to be, the nothing was no longer as pure as it once was. It contained space, time, and the concept of all things.
“In that vein, a will was naturally born within it.”
Lu Yun looked at the spreading darkness. The nothing had failed to be the nothing long ago. There was a will here that sought to destroy everything and relegate it to the pure nothing that it’d once been.
The will attacked the strongest of all first—Mo Yi’s father—the first to affect objectivity with subjectivity. He’d been trying to modify the objective nothing to make it a place appropriate for living beings to live in.
The will of the nothing arrived before he could finish the task and killed him. What was buried in the tomb wasn’t his will, but that of the nothing. It occupied his body because he could affect objectivity, which meant he could be devoured in turn.
This kind of influence ran both ways.
In actuality, the great devastation wouldn’t have occurred if the only patch of existence in the past hadn’t seen the birth of a being who sought to affect objectivity. Such was the instinctive nature of life—always seeking a higher heavenly dao.
“You have two choices. One, I will kill you and then wipe out that will. Two, you will transfer to immortal dao and incorporate everything you are into immortal dao to strengthen it. You will help me that way.” Lu Yun’s tone was noncommittal, as if he was so superior to life that he looked down over all.
He stopped continuously refining nothing the moment he set foot on another path, instead practicing absolute control over it. It wasn’t the shape of the other path, but that he used an extremely domineering way to occupy the nothing for his own use.
“Choose.” His face darkened as he released a ponderous aura from his body. It was more pressure than the city lord had ever seen from anything—it almost rivaled what the ancient tomb brought to bear.
“I…” Darkness set his jaw and sat down cross-legged, choosing to practice immortal dao.
He just wanted to live.
