Chapter 2192.1: Confiscating the Spirit Vein

Immortal Burial Valley always produced exquisite treasures during an eruption. Lu Yun threw the four items into his storage ring for later study.

Sui Ge and Tian Shanhe gaped at Lu Yun when they recovered from their shock.

“How… how did you evade that?!” Tie Shanhe gasped. Although he didn’t know what kind of method Sui Ge’s four guards had attacked with, he’d suppressed the young man with the full strength of Immortal Gazer’s formations. Lu Yun, however, still escaped!

The establishment’s formations were incredibly powerful and could fully immobilize a soul projection powerhouse, to say nothing of a mere nascent soul cultivator.

Lu Yun didn’t look at the other two until after he killed Sui Ge’s four guards and took the treasures. He’d utilized Size Manipulation earlier and turned into a particle of dust, escaping through the cracks of the formation.

Immortal Gazer was a premier third rank formation. It could trap, kill, and defend. A soul projection cultivator would have no choice but to submit, but to Lu Yun’s Eye of Nullification, it was full of holes.

Employing Size Manipulation to turn into a particle of dust was almost second nature for him. He easily slipped through the formation’s cracks and killed the four guards before they could react.

“Let’s go!” Tie Shanhe didn’t hesitate when he saw that the establishment’s formation couldn’t do anything to Lu Yun. He grabbed Sui Ge, broke through the formation, and ran out of the building. He knew that Sui Ge was no match for the young man despite being mid nascent soul. They didn’t stand a chance even if they coordinated their attacks together.

Sui Ge could not die here. Prince Sui dominated the land and his patron was one that not even a fifth rank cultivation empire dared offend. He was the disciple of a true immortal. Although the prince showed respect to Immortal Gazer, he would cause enormous trouble all the same if his favorite grandson died here.

For that reason alone, Immortal Gazer had unequivocally taken Sui Ge’s side without missing a beat.

Tie Shanhe activated the formation again after their departure and bounced all of the customers out of the building. Only Lu Yun was left inside. Tie Shanhe then directed all of his true origin into a red disk that appeared in his hand.

Boom!

The building burst into flames like it was a furnace. Tie Shanhe had fully activated the formation underpinning its foundations. He wouldn’t rest until he killed Lu Yun!

The citizens of Ashflame City looked at Immortal Gazer with astonishment when its primary formation activated. It’d rumbled to life only once before—three thousand years ago. A soul separation cultivator from a seventh rank empire had thrown a fit in the restaurant. He was ultimately refined alive and his soul scattered to the winds.

The cultivator’s sect later came to demand an explanation, but their seventh rank nation suffered retaliation instead. It declined overnight and was now a third rank empire.

Such was the might of the Immortal Gazer.

“It’s a Nineheavens Brahman Formation, I completely missed it.” Golden light sparkled from Lu Yun’s eyes as he swept the premises.

Every formation and restriction within Immortal Gazer was lit up and emanating blazing flames. The entire structure burned with raging fire, but suffered no damage from the inferno.

“Where is it… Aha, a formation disk! I knew it, how could a fourth rank cultivation empire set up a ninth rank formation? They’re using a formation disk!” A smile crept over Lu Yun’s face.

A layer of fire origin enveloped his body. As fearsome as the Nineheavens Brahman Formation was, it couldn’t draw near connate fire origin. Lu Yun strolled through the rampaging formation like it was his backyard.

He could summon connate elements through the Connate Great Dao of the Five Elements, thereby ensuring that ordinary elements would not harm him. This was also possible because a soul projection cultivator oversaw the Nineheavens Brahman Formation. If it was a soul separation powerhouse instead, Lu Yun would have to flee for his life.

“Oh please, they’re completely ruining things by adding more to it!” Lu Yun shook his head with a soft sigh as he took in the formation around him. “The Nineheavens Brahman Formation ignites the origin of spiritual fire, but these Immortal Gazer fools have added a mess of supplemental formations to it. No wonder it’s so much weaker than it should be.”

Wrapped in a protective cocoon of fire energy, Lu Yun arrived beneath the restaurant. A fourth level defensive formation stopped the young man from progressing further.

“…do those of Immortal Gazer understand formations or not? A ninth rank formation disk being protected by a fourth rank formation? If the enemy can reach this place, what’s the difference between this formation and paper?” Lu Yun rubbed his forehead and broke the fourth rank formation with a few hand seals. An enormous flaming-red millstone appeared in front of him.

It ground onward with heat waves so terrifying that the young man frowned beneath the protection of connate fire energy.

“Nice formation disk! It’s been refined into something like a treasure, so treasure and formation are connected to each other. That’s a good idea! But this is a half finished attempt and not a true treasure.”

He stared at the formation disk for a long while before nodding with satisfaction. It was giving him some new inspiration. But if formula dao was present, combining treasure and formation would be very easy.

“Formula dao again!” Lu Yun shook his head with a rueful chuckle. “Let’s collect this formation disk first.”

The ninth rank formation disk was so strong that if it erupted with full force and deployed the Nineheavens Brahman Formation, even empyrean immortals would find nothing but anguished regret. But with a mere soul projection cultivator in charge, they were unable to fully utilize the formation disk. To Lu Yun’s eyes, the formation disk was just a sitting duck.

……

Countless cultivators gathered near Immortal Gazer—they’d never imagined that they’d be able to see the establishment activate its primary foundation. They weren’t the only ones, even the Ashflame city lord was alarmed.

“Has another soul separation powerhouse come to cause trouble at Immortal Gazer?” City Lord Luo Yulong murmured to himself as he looked in the restaurant’s direction.

Who knew what he’d think if he learned that the establishment had activated its formation for only an initial nascent soul junior?

“How is it, senior?” Sui Ge asked with dissatisfaction. Tie Shanhe pulling him out of the building was a loss of face. Sui Ge was very strong himself and a member of a mysterious sect. He learned from the hands of an empyrean immortal. Although he was only mid nascent soul, he was wholly unafraid when facing soul projection heavyweights.

Thus, Tie Shanhe dragging him away with their tail between their legs after one exchange felt very humiliating!

“He’s not dead yet!” Tie Shanhe glowered. How was a ninth rank formation insufficient against a nascent soul cultivator??

He took out a crystalline item from his storage ring and gripped it in his hand, slowly refining it.

Sui Ge’s eyelids twitched when he took a closer look. That was a lower rank spirit crystal! Not even his grandfather possessed one, but a mere steward of Immortal Gazer could easily take one out for refinement.

What he didn’t know was that Tie Shanhe was quite tormented by this decision. He only had so many lower rank spirit crystals—if it wasn’t for the Nineheavens Brahman Formation consuming too much true origin, he wouldn’t want to consume one either!

Spirit crystals were easier to refine compared to spirit stones. The qi they contained was much more pure and high quality, making them far superior to ordinary spirit stones. The energy contained within one lower rank spirit crystal was the equivalent of one hundred paramount rank spirit stones—in theory. No one was willing to exchange a spirit crystal for spirit stones.

Rumble!

A massive disturbance sounded from the building. Countless baffled cultivators watched as the opulent building… jumped upward.

Although it lifted only one meter, everyone clearly saw that it’d jumped upward.

Pfft!

Tie Shanhe spat out a mouthful of blood and sagged to the ground. The treasure he used to control the formation disk drifted away as dust.

“Someone’s touched the formation disk…” he muttered weakly with horror.

Boom!

Before anyone else could react, a crimson dragon rushed out of the top of the building and made a circle of the skies, diving after half a breath.

Crack crack crack!

The magnificent Immortal Gazer building toppled over as rubble from the collision.

“Hey, Tie! What can you do about this gentleman tearing down your establishment today?” The crimson dragon vanished and Lu Yun arrived on his sword. He sneered down at Sui Ge and Tie Shanhe.

The elder in golden robes closed his eyes and wished for death. He was the cause of events today. While the young man in blue would die when the executives made their decision, he wouldn’t be far off for his involvement.

“This is Dark Orchid Empire, you are not permitted to run wildly through it!’ Sui Ge was the foremost genius of the younger generation, how could he permit Lu Yun to strut around in front of him? He set foot onto his flying sword and rose into the sky to face the young man.

“Heh.” Lu Yun couldn’t be bothered with him. A flower from the greenhouse, while strong, was just a pretty facade covering nothing underneath.

He turned around and enveloped himself in a dense array of sword light. Transforming into a crimson dragon once more, he dove at Tie Shanhe on the ground.

Sui Ge wasn’t worthy of regard, Tie Shanhe needed to be taken alive. Lu Yun finally understood how preeminent Immortal Gazer was in the world, and how they must have certain ambitions to quietly set up a ninth rank formation in Dark Orchid.

Dark Orchid was so close to Darklake that if anything happened here, it would affect Darklake Empire.
