Chapter 384 Behind the Shadow
Chapter 384 Behind the Shadow
Zhang's eyes twitched, struggling to open against the heavy haze of exhaustion.
Normally, it'd take Zhang weeks to fully wake up, his body on the edge of collapse, like a time bomb ready to go off.
But my healing powers was doing its job, easing his strained muscles and helping him come back to his senses.
With each cycle of my ability, the tension in his body melted away, and he gradually started to wake up, his mind slowly clearing from the fog of exhaustion, but not enough for him to resist me.
Before he could fully awaken, I used my Oath to him repeatedly. It was a simple choice: either he submitted to me, or I would kill him then and there.
He began twitching, attempting to resist me, but he lacked the strength to even stand. His mental defenses were feeble at the moment. Nevertheless, his will remained strong, making it challenging to break his mind.
"Alright, I'll have to kill you now," I sighed in disappointment. Poor guy had to die because my Oath wasn't working.
But just as I was about to act, I heard the familiar notification that my skill had worked. Luckily for Zhang, his life would be spared today.
"Master," He replied weakly.
"Don't strain yourself," I ordered calmly.
I connected with his mind and initiated alterations within his body.
My shapeshifting abilities normally required continuous input of my own Mind Power to sustain changes in others.
However, with Zhang's abundant Mind Power, the modifications to his body would last for a longer duration.
His power came from kinetic energy, and as I examined it through our connection, I noticed that his heart was twice the size of a normal one, and it worked differently.
I figured out how it operated and made some changes. My goal was to give him a bigger capacity before he self-destructed.
At the same time, I added something extra: a small tweak that allowed me to manually trigger his body to explode, turning him into a literal human bomb.
If ever faced with a situation where I needed to destroy an entire city, I could simply send Zhang there, and everything would go kaboom!
"Alright you're all heal up. I also made you stronger" I reassured him .
"Thank you, Master," he replied, his voice filled with reverence, completely unaware that I had just turned him into my personal bomb.
With my job finished, it was time to leave this place and head back to Seoul with my girls.
***
In the car, me and my girls were headed to the airport. I took Yen and Aiku's group with me, but I left Changnim behind.
I fed him a cheesy line about needing him for some big, super important mission, but let's be real, I had no plans for him.
He'd be forgotten in no time, just another puppet I never bothered to check on. Poor guy, left in the dust without a second thought because he has nothing much to offer.
Glancing out the window, I noticed a number of military trucks lining the road.
The airspace and maritime travel around Jeju Island remained suspended, imposing a strict protocol on its residents.
Currently, residents were being carefully confined by Cerebrum agents, ensuring they remained isolated while their memories of the recent events were systematically erased.
At the same time, a meticulous effort was underway to scour the digital landscape for any videos or recordings of the incident.
Every online platform, social media account, and personal device was scrutinized, and all footage deemed sensitive was deleted.
Seeing their quick response, it was clear that secrecy was Cerebrum top concern.
In today's peaceful society, revealing the existence of such destructive beings would upset the delicate balance.
'Thanks for keeping the peace,' I muttered, acknowledging their efforts. Though they forced erase people's memory, they were still the good guys if this was a movie.
The Zol Clan would be the villains, those aliens the secret bosses, and Adam and Eve our ancestors.
Me? I'm just a background character, pulling the strings from the shadows.
I'm just going to mind my own business, quietly amassing power until there's no longer anyone who can rival me, not just in the world, but throughout the entire universe.
Speaking of universe, the memories of those aliens did trouble me a little. If my mind were normal, I'd probably be panicking by now. But the more I learned about them, the more I become less afraid.
I admit, my current power seems like a joke compared to what I've witnessed.
However, I have my system with me, so I could probably reach that level within a year or two. Sure, I could go full psycho mode and cause mass destruction and kill millions to hasten the process, but that would be excessive. I would never resort to such actions without a valid reason.
'Then there are also those two,' I thought to myself, recalling the faces of the two beings who resembled humans. They had the ability to mimic anything, which made them even more dangerous than the blue humanoid beings in my opinion.
I asked Dr. Han about the information he had of the aliens, but he said that only the Shanghai branch had more details.
However, Cerebrum didn't have any information yet about Adam and Eve. That memory was extracted in this branch, and now I was keeping that knowledge to myself.
As I pondered the situation, a mischievous grin crept across my face.
'Poor people,' I muttered under my breath. 'They poured billions of dollars and endless resources into extracting an alien memory, and here I am, casually swiping it from under their noses.'
I kept looking out the window, just trying to pass the time until we got there.
We finally arrived at the airport after a long drive. As the car pulled up to the terminal, I sat for a moment, gathering my things before stepping out
"It's time to go home," I announce to everyone, after taking in the sight of the same private plane that had brought us here.
