Chapter 31: Thea's Hunting Grounds
The following morning, Thea and Lily woke up early, they made breakfast together, before getting ready to go out for the day.
"I have made you some hunting clothes, it would be a shame if all your dresses got ruined." She said as she handed Thea some seemingly normal clothes.
"Won't these just tear instead?" Thea asked with a confused expression.
"Why don't you use your inspect skill on those clothes. I'll give you a new set when you are old enough." Lily said with a smirk.
Thea did as she said and inspected the clothes.
[Elder Dragon Clothing Set]
She then opened the description and was baffled by the details.
[Elder Dragon Clothing Set: Clothing made with the skin of an Elder Dragon, extremely high durability and high physical and magical resistance. Will size according to the owners body]
"But mommy, I don't need such amazing clothes." Thea said reluctantly, looking at the first really impressive possession she had seen in the house.
"Although you have infinite defense... according to you, if you are even in a situation where that defense is tested, I wouldn't want your clothes to be vaporized, understand?" Lily answered, amused by the childish blush her child was making.
Thea understood now, although she was embarrassed, she could figure it out herself, she appreciated the cloths.
"Thank you mommy." Thea said with a smile before going to change. While she was doing this Lily prepared some picnic food to bring with them.
When Thea came back, Lily asked Thea to put it in her inventory so it would keep its freshness, Thea of course wanting the food at its greatest flavor, gladly accepted.
Then the two of them left, they didn't rush but walked instead. Lily took the time to explain some information about the nearby plants and herbs which Thea didn't really listen to, as she had the inspect skill. Lily noticed this but didn't really mind.
The pair had walked for a few hours uninterrupted when Lily stopped.
"Let's have some lunch." She said as she turned to look affectionately at Thea.
Thea proceeded with taking out the food and the two of them ate a nice meal together when they continued heading to a certain direction. Thea could tell using her map that they had been walking in a straight line but simply followed Lily without saying anything.
When it started getting dark Lily turned to look at Thea and smiled.
"Althea, do you know how far we have walked?" Lily asked Thea.
"About 30 miles." Thea said hesitatingly, unsure of the question.
"Why are you so unsure, you are correct, we have walked a total of 30 miles north today. I will let you hunt in a 60 mile radius of our cottage, this way you can run back in a days' time when your stamina has gotten to that level." Lily said seriously towards her daughter.
Thea accepted the conditions, although she already had the [Greater Vitality] at max, it didn't say she had infinite stamina, and although she had infinite defense, she could still get trapped somewhere, suffocated, starve and more unusual things that would potentially harm her.
Knowing her shortcomings she accepted the conditions as a 60 mile radius wasn't small and could keep her interested for a few years.
"Alright, now that is settled we will walk back, we will practice navigating through the forest when its dark. Then I will help you with some camping tips and tricks so you can overnight in the forest... if you ever want to." Lily said caringly. You could even hear her hesitating to let Thea sleep alone, if she was thinking about Thea or herself, even she herself didn't know yet.
They then started heading back, it was quite easy as Thea had great night vision with her eyes so the lesson Lily wanted to teach was for naught. They arrived home early in the morning and went to bed after an uneventful bath.
The next day Lily taught Thea some camping tricks explaining things from making fires to setting up tents. Thea sometimes wondered how old her mother was to know so much, but afraid of the consequences of asking her, she never did.
Just like that, Monday came and Thea started her cycle that would continue for the next 9 years.
