Chapter 130: Future

In the morning.

As the room door was slowly pushed open, Jiang Xiao carefully popped his head in, only to see a large figure all huddled up on his tiny bed.

Second Last seemed to be sleeping well and she no longer looked aloof and cold. At this moment, she was like a large cat that was laying down lazily.

The crimson trench coat revealed her alluring figure and her long hair was scattered all over her face, revealing a side to her that was unknown to Jiang Xiao.

Jiang Xiao listened to her breathing and thought about it for a while. However, he still decided not to disturb her in the end. Instead, he closed the door gently and put the toiletries by the door.

He returned to the kitchen and placed the food he bought in a rice cooker to keep it warm. He then hurriedly put on his clothes and went out to go to school.

After a long while, Second Last moved and turned over to lie on the bed as she opened her eyes wearily.

The ceiling and room were unfamiliar, but she had always been living in unfamiliar places.

She would travel all over the city all year round and wake up in different places every day. It could be in a hotel, in a basement, or even in a cave or tunnel in a Dimensional Space.

Unlike those places, Jiang Xiao’s bed felt a little familiar.

There was finally some focus in Second Last’s eyes and, after a few seconds, she remembered where she was.

She couldn’t help but stretch her back, only to have her leg hit the closet next to the bed. She frowned slightly, lifted the crimson trench coat that she was wearing, and got up to get out of bed.

There was a stack of books and a portrait in front of the computer desk.

The little boy in the photo had a puerile face and gave off a rash vibe that made him look obnoxious.

Second Last glanced at the photo quietly and reached for the photo frame on the table.

Whoosh...

She stretched her hand and drew the curtains open, after which the warm sunlight shone on her face. She couldn’t but squint and slowly tie her hair into a ponytail. She then enjoyed the wonderful moment quietly.

At the next moment, her nose crinkled a little.

With a low ponytail, Second Last walked out of the room and accidentally kicked something, forming a jingling sound.

Second Last lowered her head and saw that there was a toothbrush, a towel, and some soap in the transparent plastic bag.

Second Last raised an eyebrow, leaned over, and picked up the plastic bag before looking around and finding her way to the bathroom.

A few minutes later, she brushed her teeth and entered the kitchen. The fragrant aroma of food wafted up to her nose.

There was a piece of paper on the table and the supposedly graceful Chinese characters were all wriggly and twisted.

“The food is in the rice cooker and there are some side dishes in the refrigerator.”

Second Last cocked her head towards the side and crinkled her nose before finding the rice cooker and opening it.

There was a bowl of soy milk and four stacked pancakes above the steamer in the rice cooker.

She smiled faintly.

Half an hour later, she opened the door and walked out in her slippers, after which she picked up the shoe rack and closed the door. She then walked towards Apartment 702.

Dong! Dong! Dong!

Second Last knocked on the metal gate of Apartment 702.

After waiting patiently for 20 seconds, Second Last knocked again for the third time.

This time, her nose crinkled and she said, “Guardian Of The Night, Light-chaser.”

She seemed to know who the person in the apartment was.

Besides, she seemed to know their identity too, which was why she said those words.

There still wasn’t any sound from the gate of Apartment 702.

Second Last lowered her head and peeked through the peephole before saying, “From now on, he’ll be joining the Guardians Of The Night.”

Second Last then turned around and returned to Apartment 701, picked up her shoes, and entered the apartment before closing the door.

The dark peephole on the door of Apartment 702 seemed to have restored its glow. It was as if the person behind the door had already left and was no longer looking out through the peephole.

At the same time, in Jiangbin High School, the bell for morning reading class had just rung and Jiang Xiao turned around to look at Han Jiangxue behind him, followed by Xia Yan opposite him.

Jiang Xiao waved at Li Weiyi, who then approached him curiously.

The group of four stood in a corner of the classroom and Jiang Xiao said, “I know which Arsenal we’re training in as well as the topography and the distribution of clusters of monsters there.”

Xia Yan chuckled and said, “Is this the result of your dedication? Seems like it was really a filthy deal.”

Oh, what!?!

Mocking me!?!

I deserve the greatest credit!

The feeling of stepping on eggshells and being near a dangerous being was still fresh in his memory!

I’m being all anxious and I managed to get the intelligence information. Yet, you mocked me!?!

Jiang Xiao scratched his head and gazed at Xia Yan affectionately. He teased. “Although I was kept by another woman, you must remember that I still love you.”

“Psht...” Li Weiyi looked down and snickered, unable to contain his amusement.

Master of tactics!

The king of self-explosions!

I must bomb you to death even if I die!

Xia Yan snorted and retorted, “Why would I believe you? You’re really naughty, you imp.”

“Be serious,” Han Jiangxue said coldly.

“During the training lessons in the afternoon, I’ll show you a detailed map. Everything on it is very detailed.” Jiang Xiao continued, “But this is a map of the venue for the Beijiang Province League, not the map of the Arsenal that we’re going tomorrow.”

Han Jiangxue said, “Arsenals are not conventional training places and most of them are blocked. Only two or three are open to the public. For which place is the map that she gave you?”

Jiang Xiao answered, “It’s the one in Guanlin City, Zhongcheng County.”

“Guanlin City? So far? It’s going to take at least 12 hours by train, right? If we go by car, it’s going to be at least a seven- or eight-hour drive. The distance is about 600 to 700 kilometers.”

Jiang Xiao said, “We can go there in your car, but first things first, I’m not going to the trunk.”

Han Jiangxue asked, “Why did she give these to you?”

Jiang Xiao answered, “Uh, this is a long story.”

Li Weiyi looked back at the clock on the wall behind him and said, “There are seven minutes left.”

Jiang Xiao pondered for a while in silence before saying, “Well, weren’t we imprisoned when we were in the snowfield? The mercenaries then blasted the prison and caused it to crumble. She saved me and we formed an impromptu team.”

Everyone nodded in unison, for they had all heard about it.

Jiang Xiao scratched his head and said in embarrassment, “A lot of things happened afterward, but I shall just tell you the outcome briefly. I helped her defeat the deputy head of the mercenary corps and saved her life. When we met again later, you saw her attitude towards me and what I did. In all...”

Xia Yan asked casually, “Has she taken an interest in you?”

“She wants me to join the Guardians Of The Night and she wants to accept me as her disciple.” Jiang Xiao thought about it and said, “Her team of four is now falling apart and they’re still short of people.”

Xia Yan and Han Jiangxue glanced at each other. The things that they had discussed in private about the future were all coming true.

Jiang Xiao continued, “By the way, Teacher Hai Tianqing was once a member of her team. Then something happened that caused Teacher Hai to be expelled. That’s why he came to teach at Jiangbin High School.”

Han Jiangxue nodded and said, “We could already guess something from the way Teacher Hai called the man in the dungeon, Captain. Surprisingly, he really was one of the Guardians Of The Night.”

Li Weiyi sighed and exclaimed, “That’s really such a waste of talent. He’s one of the Guardians Of The Night and yet, he actually decided to teach at a high school.”

Jiang Xiao nodded in agreement. “He’s also a precious Medical Awakened.”

Han Jiangxue asked, “What do you think of this?”

“Uh.” Jiang Xiao paused and glanced at everyone. “I’ve been wanting to ask you guys, which university do you want to apply for? Are you going to apply to the same college? Or are you guys going to pursue your individual interests separately?”

His words made everyone feel rather shocked.
