Nine Star Burden

Chapter 262: Ruffian From Tianjin

Chapter 262: Ruffian From Tianjin

Chapter 262: Ruffian From Tianjin

The young man had a neat buzzcut and was tall and slender. He was dressed in a white T-shirt and he looked just like a ruffian from Tianjin.

However, he did not behave like a ruffian. He had a friendly smile on his face and looked rather humble. No one had an aura like him.

He had a cheerful personality and seemed to be rather talkative. Just as he was about to say something, he was reprimanded by the middle-aged woman. Everyone in this team happened to have just finished their meals and they left the restaurant under the lead of the middle-aged woman.

Jiang Xiao secretly sized up the team and found them to be a little familiar as if he had seen some photos of them.

He only looked away after the team left.

Hai Tianqing began talking about the main topic. “This time, Xiaopi’s Sound of Silence is going to be of good use.”

“Mhm...” Jiang Xiao nodded silently.

The Ancient Imperial Mausoleum was dangerous and detested by the Star Warriors because the creatures of other dimensions there often appeared and lived in groups.

The more frightening thing was the fact that they were all Gold Quality boss-level creatures that might appear in front of them in a large army or groups.

Creatures like the Ancient Warriors were special because they had grayish-white skin which resembled decayed corpses. However, they were living creatures of other dimensions that were sentient and had wisdom.

Their shattered bodies could still hunt and move normally even with their bones exposed, which was truly marvelous, for their vitality was absolutely tenacious.

They fought rather frequently and there was almost no such thing as ethnic suppression for them. Teams would go against one another and hunt one another down.

Yes, such creatures were also cannibalistic.

The iconic creature of the Ancient Imperial Mausoleum was the Soul of the Ancient Warrior.

It was a Gold Quality, boss-level creature with four Star Techniques that were almost all related to “bones”. That was not all. The Star Techniques in the Ancient Imperial Mausoleum were like fish in water and enjoyed an absolute advantage.

Skeletons, Bone Shield, Bone Wall, and Bone Prison were considered control Star Techniques that mainly defended the Rules-series creatures. They also had special “healing” effects.

That was also one of the reasons that the Ancient Warriors were considered disgusting. Why could the Ancient Warriors still be able to stand on their feet, move quickly, and fight well even though most of them had missing limbs and were beaten up to the point where they could not take care of themselves?

Everything was because of the existence of the Soul of the Ancient Warrior and the “Skeleton” Star Technique.

Missing limbs? With a shot of “Skeleton” by the Soul of the Ancient Warrior, the newly grown bones would be used immediately without any need for fusion.

Such Star Techniques were strong, but very few people would acquire them.

Why?

Because it came with limitations!

The introduction of the Skeleton Star Technique made it clear that it was meant for accelerating the bones of the bodies of the Ancient Warriors, and the targets of the Star Techniques were the Ancient Warriors.

Jiang Xiao had the internal Star Map and rich experience. Hence, he wouldn’t bother acquiring such a Star Technique. However, when the Ancient Imperial Mausoleum was first developed, many officers and soldiers wasted their star slots on this Star Technique.

Besides, Bone Shield, Bone Wall, and Bone Prison all had plenty of limitations. They could only be launched after gathering the surrounding corpses and debris.

Hence, the Soul of the Ancient Warrior was both disgusting and tricky to deal with.

Putting aside the Soul of the Ancient Warrior, Jiang Xiao coveted the Star Techniques of the Ancient Archer General.

The Ancient Archer General Star Techniques need not be explained. One would be able to understand their effects just by looking at their names. They were the Explosive Arrow, Quick-freezing Arrow, Arrow Of Plague, and Memorial Arrow.

There was a need for some explanation for Memorial Arrow. It was a set of bow and arrow that had a wide range and was absolutely terrifying. When exposed to the range of energy fluctuations from the bow and arrow, the subject would definitely suffer a certain degree of spiritual damage.

The arrow-series Star Techniques were all of Silver Quality, and the Ancient Archer General was a Gold Quality creature of another dimension whose Star Beads were of Gold Quality.

In other words, Jiang Xiao only needed one Ancient Archer General Star Bead to upgrade his four archery Star Techniques to Gold Quality.

Why don’t... I really convert to a long-range output attacker?

Anyway, Jiang Xiao had an internal Star Map and he could totally train himself to master-level? There was no need to consider the issue of talent.

However, the Ancient Imperial Mausoleum was one of a kind in this world and could only be found in Chang’an City. Jiang Xiao could not come into contact with such Star Beads at all.

Even if he went to Beijing, he probably would never get those Star Beads.

This time, Jiang Xiao managed to enter this place and fight it out because he had won glory during the National High School League. It was uncertain if he would be able to enter Chang’an City again.

It would be impossible to launch numerous attacks, but it seemed that the four Gold Quality arrow-series Star Techniques were already enough.

How frustrating.

Why do I feel like being an output even though I’m a Medical Awakened?

Is it because of Xia Yan... Yes! It must be because of her! If her output is more brutal, why would I want to become an output?

They chatted for a while and decided to go back to the hotel and look for a quiet place to discuss in detail and formulate their battle strategy. If possible, it would be better to look for a suitable training place.

There was no need to think about the Ancient Imperial Mausoleum. There were only three ancient imperial mausoleums around Chang’an City, all of which were never opened to the civil organizations in the first place because of their dangerousness.

The few of them returned to the designated hotel, but before they even entered, they happened to see two bodyguards clad in suits and leather shoes escorting a few young people. The person in the lead seemed to be in a rush but polite as well. “I’m sorry, excuse me, thank you, excuse me.”

The group of five was slightly surprised and they stopped in their tracks. The two bodyguards then escorted a few teenagers wearing shades into the hotel.

“What’s this? Are they celebrities?” With a playful expression, Xia Yan teased. “They do dress like Koreans.”

“Are they celebrities? Why do I feel like they’re the contestants of our cohort?” said Jiang Xiao, who wasn’t too sure.

Xia Yan was stunned, but it wasn’t impossible. After all, there were a total of four young men and women.

Jiang Xiao and the others didn’t take it seriously and then walked into the hotel. As soon as they arrived in front of the elevator, they were stopped by two bodyguards.

“What are you doing?” Xia Yan questioned in anger.

“Sorry, please wait here for a while and board the elevator later,” said the man clad in a suit.

Jiang Xiao was dumbfounded.

You sound very polite, but your words seem very unfriendly?

Do you own the hotel?

Why are you privileged?

Earlier on, Jiang Xiao was still thinking that those students ought to keep a low profile. However, he finally understood that they didn’t care at all.

Xia Yan looked in and said, “There are a total of eight elevators here. Can the four of them manage to board all eight?”

The man in the suit did not respond and simply stood in front of everyone to block them.

“Get out of the way. Let me tell you, I have a bad temper...” Before Xia Yan could even finish speaking, a familiar voice came from a young man behind.

“Hey? We meet again.” Just as Xia Yan grew infuriated, a team of five walked over.

Jiang Xiao looked over and discovered that it was the team he encountered in the restaurant previously.

It was the middle-aged female teacher leading four students—two boys and two girls.

The young man speaking was the boy who dressed like a Tianjin thug.

He looked at the current situation with a peculiar expression, after which he asked, “What do you mean? You’re not going to let me pass?”

“Oh hey? Isn’t this Liu Yang?” said a boy wearing shades and standing in front of the elevator in the corridor.

“Tsk tsk tsk tsk...” The boy with the buzzcut called Liu Yang was obviously sharp-tongued. He continuously clucking his tongue against the roof of his mouth while looking up and down at the young man dressed like a Korean. He gibed. “I was wondering who you were. Turns out it’s Lee Howard.”

No one could see the gaze in the young man’s eyes, and he tried to imitate the Tianjin accent as he gibed. “Liu Yang! Brother! When are you going to be the first in Tianjin?”

“Hehe, do you want to know?” Liu Yang curled his finger and looked past the two bodyguards clad in black. “Come on, your lord is in the mood today. Let’s spar.”

The young man in shades continued to speak coldly in his normal tone, with a hint of Beijing accent, “Whose lord are you? Have you gotten some guts? I’m telling you, you’d better mind your words.”

“Why should I? Why should I? Who are you to care?” The Tianjin thug continued to provoke and challenge him.

The young man in shades said, “Rascal, you’re asking for a hard time today...”

The two of them exchanged snide remarks, each sounding more sarcastic and derogative than the preceding one.

Jiang Xiao was getting a headache from listening to their conversation. He suddenly took a step forward, and the bodyguards in black reached out in a bid to stop him. He then reached both hands out to grab the bodyguards, holding one of them in each hand.

Bang!

He gently pushed them, causing them to fly more than eight meters away.

The two bodyguards bumped their heads against the young man clad in shades, and everyone in the corridor immediately got into an uproar.

The other three young men and women in the same group managed to dodge, but they tensed up and secretly kept their guards up when they saw Jiang Xiao walking towards them with a sullen expression.

Jiang Xiao walked towards the three of them, and while everyone watched, he slowly raised his hand and gently pressed the elevator button.

Everyone was speechless.

Jiang Xiao said, “You need to press the button in order to get the elevator to stop.”

Ding!

The elevator had always been stopped at level one and the doors opened as soon as Jiang Xiao pressed the button.

The young men and women seemed a little embarrassed and couldn’t stand the nonsense at all. He helped the two bodyguards and the young man up and quickly rushed into the elevator.

“Brother! Sure!” Liu Yang walked over and grabbed Jiang Xiao’s hand before continuing, “You’ve got extraordinary reflexes, eh?”

Jiang Xiao was dumbfounded.

With a gleeful expression, Liu Yang introduced himself. “I’m from Hexi District in Tianjin and my name is Liu Yang, also known as the Tianjin Ruffian!”

Jiang Xiao scratched his head with his left hand since someone was holding his right hand tightly. After thinking about it for three seconds, he answered, “I’m from Jiangbin City in Beijiang and my name is Jiang Xiaopi, also known as the gangster from Beijiang!”
