Chapter 175 Apologizing

It was 6:30 a.m., but the Marshall Residence was still quiet.

As Sarah was getting up there in age, she slept less and was already inside the living room, drinking tea.

Finley came over and said, “Old Mrs. Marshall, Ernie is at the door.”

Sarah had gotten tired of hearing Ernie’s name being mentioned.

“Why is he here again? He’s just a petty person wanting to show off. Tell him to leave!” Sarah ordered coldly.

Finley went off to do as he was told.

After a while, he returned and informed her, “Ernie refuses to leave and wants to see Mr. Marshall.”

“Ignore him!” Sarah instructed.

Outside the gates of the Marshall Residence, Ernie sat in his car, staring fixedly at the gate.

Reeva was sitting beside him with a grim expression.

While gritting his teeth, Ernie hissed, “With how the Marshalls’ are acting, it seems like the rumors are

true.

Reeva tried to persuade him, “Honey, don’t worry. The Marshall family probably still doesn’t know the value of that piece of land. Otherwise, why would they be willing to sell it to the Kaufmann Group and the Monaghan Group?”

“You’re right. We have to keep waiting!”

After pondering for a moment, Reeva suggested, “Since we’re here to apologize, it won’t seem sincere if we stay in the car. Noah might not be willing to see you now.”

“What should we do then?”

“Let’s get out of the car and wait outside.”

Since it was the weekend, all the Marshall family staff had the day off.

At 7 a.m., Ryan was the first to wake up. He had a glass of milk and went to the gym.

By 8:30 a.m., Noah, Ashley, and Sylvia had also woken up.

When Sylvia saw that Freya and Braxton were still asleep, she frowned and criticized, “Those two are so lazy. I’ll go wake them up!”

But Sarah smiled and stopped her. “Why wake them up? They’re still young, yet they have to manage the Kaufmann Group. It’s rare for them to come to visit me for a couple of days, so let them sleep in.”

Ashley said, “Melissa is still not up. I’ll have Ryan go wake her.”

Ryan was called out of the gym and received his orders. “Go wake up your sister.”

In the end, Melissa, Braxton, and Freya were woken up.

The sleepy-eyed group made their way to the living room, still wearing their pajamas.

Sarah smiled as she looked at the group of children and felt happy. “Look at these sleepyheads.”

Melissa whined, “Granny, we’re adults now. Why are you criticizing us like we’re children?”

Freya laughed. Not only were they grownups, but every one of them was not easy to reckon with.

Ryan was already a superstar in the entertainment industry.

Her brother, Braxton, was in charge of the Kaufmann Group, and she had even gone through marriage and divorce.

The youngest among them, Melissa, was already in college. However, they would always be the cute little grandchildren in Sarah’s eyes.

At that moment, Finley came over with a smile and informed them, “Old Mrs. Marshall, breakfast is ready.”“

The group moved to the dining room to have breakfast.

Sarah looked at the large table full of people and couldn’t stop smiling. “It would be great if our home was always this lively.”

Sylvia felt slightly guilty and said, “Mom, I’ll come back more often to keep you company.”

“Keep me company?” Sarah looked at her, “Now you’re trying to be filial. I remember you almost threatened me with your life when I insisted on not letting you marry and move to Caltun.”

Freya overheard the gossip and immediately perked up her ears, holding her cereal bowl and staring wide-eyed at her grandmother. “Granny, did my mom really threaten you with her life for my dad?”

Noah laughed and told her, “Your dad was quite the impressive man back then. He came to the subsidiary company in Vroria to handle some business matters and almost killed all the plants by the wall by climbing over and over again.”

Hearing that, Sylvia quickly chastised her brother, “Shut up! What nonsense are you talking about?”

Everyone at the table burst into laughter.

After hearing the gossip about the Kaufmann family, Melissa was curious and looked at her own parents. “Dad, how did you win over my mom?”

Ashley smiled gently while holding her spoon and asked, “Mel, how are your studies going? I heard you got into a fight with a girl named Hannah Monaghan at school?”

Melissa lowered her head and kept quiet.

Noah and Ryan both looked up and gave Melissa a stern look.

“A fight?”

“Are you looking to get into trouble?”

Freya looked at her aunt in admiration.

When breakfast was almost finished, Finley walked in again.

He hesitantly informed Sarah. “Old Mrs. Marshall, Ernie still refuses to leave. He and his wife have been standing at the gate waiting all morning.”

Recently, Noah had become increasingly allergic to the Porters. The cheerful atmosphere at the dining table instantly disappeared after mentioning Ernie’s name.

Sarah slammed her spoon on the table. “What does he want?”

Noah frowned and asked, “Mom, what’s going on?”

“You lot were still asleep, so I stopped them from disturbing you.” Sarah explained angrily. “That Ernie came to our house early, around 6 a.m. and insisted on seeing you. I had Finley keep him outside the gate, but he refused to leave!”

When Freya heard that, her eyes glistened for a moment.

Meanwhile, Noah seemed angry as he asked Finley, “Mr. Lewis, did he say why he’s here?

“No, he didn’t. He only said he wants to meet you and apologize. He didn’t get into the details.

Ashley sneered. “He’s here to apologize after scamming 30 billion from us? I don’t think he’s that kind of person. He was causing trouble at Mom’s birthday banquet a few days ago.”

Melissa also sneered. “He won’t go to such lengths for nothing. Tell him to leave!”

With a bitter smile, Finley explained, “Old Mrs. Marshall had ordered him to leave the first time, and I conveyed the message, but he refused to leave.”

Sarah was furious. “Then let him stand there. No one will help him collect his corpse even if he dies standing outside.”

In the meantime, Freya continued to eat her breakfast.

After breakfast, the Marshall family finally gathered together and sat in the living room.

Noah chatted with Sarah while Ashley and Sylvia sat together and whispered in each other’s ears.

Freya noticed Ryan was reprimanding Melissa.

Only Braxton seemed quite free.

Therefore, she grabbed a game console to play a game while beckoning Braxton over.

“Brax, come here. I have something to tell you.”

Braxton obediently came over and asked, “What is it?”

Keeping her voice low, Freya told him everything about Ernie.

Braxton raised an eyebrow and whispered, “Are you sure? Does that land really have a gold mine under it?”

Freya smiled. “Of course, there is.”

“We should hurry up and tell Granny.”

But Freya held him back.

At II a.m., the sun was still bright outside despite it being early fall.

As though suddenly remembering something, Sarah called for Finley. “Have the Porters left?”

Finley smiled bitterly. “Nope. I’m not sure why they’re so determined. The couple is almost passing out from the heat. Old Mrs. Marshall, I don’t think this is a good idea. Although our residence is quite secluded, and they don’t catch much attention standing there, what would we do if they do pass out at our door?” CD

Putting down her console, Freya supported her belly while getting up. “Uncle Noah, if it were up to me, you should meet Ernie. It’s not a problem if he faints from the heat, but what if he dies at our doorstep? It would be bad luck for us.”

Noah’s expression looked grim. “Fine. Let them come inside, but don’t bring them to the main building. Lead them to the smaller building on the side.“

Finley responded and went away.

Then, Braxton tugged on Freya’s hand, but she shook her head at him..

In the meantime, Ashley noticed the siblings’ actions but said nothing.
