Chapter 286 The Other Side of Radley

Freya glanced at the task interface on the forum.

Several people had already accepted the task she had previously posted on the forum, so they should be investigating it by now.

She sighed softly. Despite so many people taking on the task, the investigation had yet to progress.

What exactly was that hidden organization up to?

Before Freya sat on the bed, she rummaged through her room and took out a bottle of pain relief ointment. Then, she applied the ointment and gently massaged her right shoulder.

After about an hour, Ink sent a message back.

Ink: I’ve checked the map. The wall he climbed over connects two large city blocks, and both blocks have surveillance cameras.

Freya looked at the dozens of pictures sent by Ink.

Ink: Based on the approximate timeframe you provided, along with analyzing the pedestrians’ walking postures and carried items, I’ve narrowed the list to these dozens of individuals. Take a look and see if any -of them look familiar.

Freya frowned as she examined the pictures.

These images from Ink were not only from the surveillance cameras in the two city blocks. Some were clearly screenshots taken from hacked surveillance cameras of small shops on the street. So, the image resolution was not particularly high.

After a few rounds of selection, she locked onto two people.

One appeared to be a pregnant woman, while the other was a man in a suit carrying a briefcase.

Freya sent the photos back to Ink: Help me investigate these two people.

With just two targets, a skilled hacker like Ink could swiftly handle it. In just a few minutes, he replied with two video clips.

Freya didn’t open them yet and asked: What’s the situation?

Ink: If you’re sure that one of these two people is the one who attacked you, then it’s likely the man in the suit. The other person, the pregnant woman, lives nearby and works as a civil servant. She is indeed pregnant and is currently on maternity leave.

Freya’s gaze focused on the man in the suit: Have you managed to track his whereabouts?

Ink: I couldn’t trace him. He probably had someone helping him. Apart from some unavoidable surveillance, he’s managed to evade most of it. The last known location he was seen was in a development. zone in the North Geft district. It’s an area full of demolished houses with barely any people, let alone surveillance cameras.

Freya bit her lip and slammed the table in frustration. “Not again!”

The clusive movements of these people left her feeling utterly helpless!

Nevertheless, Freya instructed Ink to continue digging into the previous surveillance footage.

Although they hadn’t yet caught the real culprit who killed Benjamin, Melissa’s suspicion had been mostly cleared for now.

With the appearance of the man in gray today, the police would come to realize that Melissa and Hannah had been wrongfully accused.

The only remaining issue was the physical evidence.

While Freya pondered this, the sound of a vehicle pulling up downstairs caught her attention. She hurried to the window and took a look. It was Noah and Ashley coming back.

Thus, Freya quickly changed into casual clothes and rushed downstairs.

Noah wore a stern expression in the living room while Ashley paced anxiously on the side.

“Aunt Ashley, Uncle Noah.” Freya greeted them as soon as she descended the stairs.

Ashley looked up at Freya, who was clearly anxious, and then she relaxed a bit as she swiftly walked up to Freya.

“Frey, I heard from your mother that you investigated the clues at Swan Lake today. How did it go?

Freya reassuringly held Ashley’s hands. “Aunt Ashley, don’t worry too much for now. I found some new clues there today. I promise you that Melissa will be released soon.”

Noah sighed on the side. “Frey, your mother mentioned that you were attacked while investigating the clues today. Were you scared?”

Ashley’s expression turned guilty upon hearing that. “I’m sorry, Frey. I was too anxious. You’ve already done your best, and I shouldn’t have pressured you like that.”

“Aunt Ashley, I completely understand your concerns, especially given what happened to Mel,” Freya consoled in a hushed tone, “And you know, actually, the attack on me today might be a good thing, right?”

Noah understood what Freya meant.

“Aunt Ashley, rest assured. The police have started re-investigating the evidence. It won’t be long before. Mel is released.”

Ashley finally let go of her anxiety.

At 8 p.m. in Smalzot Yard, a slender figure sat on a black leather sofa in the dimly lit living room.

Radley lifted his gaze, and the three people across from him dared not look up to meet his eyes due to their evident fear.

“Tell me. Who placed the camera in the woods?” Radley’s voice carried a compelling force, causing the legs. of the three people to tremble.

Today, all three of them were brought here from different places.

After a few seconds of silence, Radley narrowed his eyes. “You don’t want to say, huh?”

One chubby guy among them was so frightened that his legs weakened, and his voice quivered as he responded, “Sir, it’s not that we don’t want to say, but we genuinely don’t know which woods you’re referring to. Um, but I do have a camera!”

Radley’s gaze turned cold. “Where is your camera?”

The chubby guy hurriedly explained, “It’s with my roommate! He borrowed it a while ago to take pictures for his girlfriend!”

Radley nodded while Connor grabbed his phone and dialed a number. “Go verify.”

The living room fell into an eerie silence. An invisible tension permeated the air, making it even more. difficult for them to breathe!

After about five minutes, Connor’s phone buzzed as he put the phone on speaker.

“It’s true. The camera has indeed been found in the possession of his roommate, and the model matches.”

Radley nodded in affirmation.

Connor looked at the chubby guy and spoke politely. “You’re free to go now. Please wait on the side. We’ll arrange transportation to take you back shortly.”

The chubby guy followed Connor’s guidance and sat on a nearby chair.

“Next,” Radley said calmly.

The remaining two guys had long been frightened out of their wits.

The taller, thinner young man stared wide-eyed, his thoughts racing. What is going on? Did this person drag us here in the middle of the night just to ask about a camera?!

Could there be some earth-shattering secret about his camera?

Moreover, the other guy who had just spoken had mentioned where his camera was, and this man before them could verify it within minutes!

While the young man was lost in thought, Connor had already approached him.

“You’ve heard the previous conversation. As part of our investigation, you also possess a camera of the same model. Can you please tell us where it is now?”

The young man’s voice trembled slightly, “Last month, I needed money, so I sold it in a second-hand marketplace!”

Crap, could this also have an impact? he thought.

Connor smiled and requested, “Kindly show us the sales record.”

The young man’s hands trembled as he retrieved his phone from his pocket. After opening the second- hand marketplace application, he found the camera’s sales record from the transaction history and handed it to Connor.

Connor reviewed it and then said, “Mr. Monaghan, his camera was indeed sold a month ago. Additionally, the shipping item had insurance coverage, and the package was labeled with the camera’s model, so there shouldn’t be any mistake.”

Radley’s gaze fell on the last man, who looked very refined and had a gentle appearance, wearing gold- rimmed glasses on his face.

“What about yours?”
