Chapter 2036: Boot Camp -Part 4
"Before we go into the new portal, I would like everyone to go into the place of respite as we have some things to discuss," Jin said as he went into the Open Field Portal before the rest followed.
"You all have done well enduring all the training so far. Now we are going to proceed to the second stage of the training and this requires some bodily sacrifice." Jin said it bluntly to tell them the truth as there was no use sugarcoating it in any other way. Enjoy new chapters from m-v l'-NovelBin.net
"If you are not willing to go through this, I will talk to Questo and at the very least get your adventurer Rank to E class without any questions asked. If you are capable enough, you can go for the Rank D promotion class as well." Jin explained. "Also, 50 gold for the efforts that you guys had put in." He instantly threw ten bags on the ground which everyone believed was worth 50 gold each.
"However, if you are willing to go through this bodily sacrifice. You are no longer an adventurer but a part of the Royal Mages Army. This means that you are being offered a regular salary as well as bonuses as the Royal Mages Army had dictated and the offer of 100 gold alongside it." Jin added.
"Oh what the heck, I am feeling generous today. These 50 gold would be added into the pool for not backing out and going through the entire course too." Jin decided to cave in and sweeten the pool.
"Your Majesty, there were rumours before we entered that we are going to pit against Grand Sage Mex's disciples in a fight, is it not?" Number 4 asked and Jin nodded his head without hiding any deceit.
"Yes. And if you lot, I will guarantee that you would not just be part of the Royal Mages Army, you would be in a brand new section that is directly commanded by me and me alone. Your new title would be the Commando Mages and you will be the first Royal Air Squad that I will be forming." Jin replied.
"What is this bodily sacrifice?" Number 5 asked and Jin pulled out the Odin's Lesser Jewels for them to see.
"In exchange for power, you will have to sacrifice one of your eyes for this Rank S Relic," Jin said and the rest started to whisper among themselves.
"A rank S relic? No wonder why the King said that if we won, we would be under the direct command of the King." Number 3 felt excited.
"Even the high ranking officers would never have the chance to hold a Rank S Relic!" Number 2 added and they instantly asked the question. Will they lose their vision from adding this relic to their body?
"I cannot answer this as I have yet to verify it. There are ten of such relics and I cannot guarantee that all ten relics will work the same. This is the risk you have to bear."
"Heh. I will take it. I know how terrible my magic power levels are and I knew this opportunity to join this training would be a once in a lifetime kind of chance. There is no way I can work directly under the King or in the Royal Army if I miss out on this chance at all.
So, I am willing to be the first." Number 1 said and immediately, Number 3 and Number 6 also volunteered while the rest were still in a conundrum.
"I will perform the installation for the three of you first. Lie down and I will do the process." Jin said and Number 1 instantly laid on the floor and clenched his fists, thinking that it would be a painful process. However, he had no idea that Jin was able to numb the surrounding tissues with his Maqi.
He then condensed his Maqi to transmute the eye into a mist of mana as if it was offering the Magic Eye AI Engine as a tribute for it to have better compatibility with Trainee Number 1's body. Perhaps, he tributed Number 1's eye into the first Odin's Lesser Jewels, allowing it to be inserted so smoothly.
"Now blink a little and look," Jin instructed and Number 1 did as was told. To his surprise, he could see so clearly, in fact even more clearly than his other eye. But more importantly, Jin asked him to light up a fireball and throw it upwards.
Number 1 was able to do it instantaneously without chanting any spell at all. It was as if there was no chanting needed when he cast it up high. Not to mention, the fireball was moving at a velocity that was not going to come down anytime soon. Instead, they all felt that the fireball would dissipate once its energy had been spent when flying upwards.
When everyone saw this, they were surprised by the powers that had been granted by Odin's Lesser Jewels. The other two did the procedure right in front of everyone and they too were able to see as well as shoot the very same strength of fireball that Number 1 had demonstrated.
That was enough to convince everyone else to follow the herd and do the same procedure as well. When it was done, they all felt excited that they were able to wield such magic but Jin suddenly looked at them with a straight stare.
"Now that all of you have decided to dedicate yourself to the Kingdom of Ress, you are now unofficially members of the Royal Mage Army. And because of that, I am going to restrict the spells that all of you are using until you have mastered these few magic spells." Jin said as he now took out the rifles from his storage watch and carefully threw each of them to the trainees.
"These are your wands, staves, staff, or whatever you call it," Jin said as he too withdrew a rifle from his storage watch and showed them how to use it. "You have to put this and I called it an ammo clip," Jin said as he put it in the rifle which was ironically the very same Garand Rifle that he had used in the Synthesis World.
He then conjured up a curved pillar and at the very end of it was a piece of metal that was hanging down from it.
"Aim your Wand Rifle at the target, and shoot." A loud bang emerged out from the rifle as it should have and there was a loud click, bringing the piece of metal down from the curved pillar.
"What you shot out are bullets. These are like arrows, just that they move faster and hit harder than normal conventional arrows. I will be introducing this to our hunters in the near future but for now, it is only exclusively for the mages. The only caveat that differentiates an archer using this and a mage using this is based on how you enchant the bullets.
"You can enhance the bullet with basic elemental spells and it will enable you to store that elemental energy until it hits the target," Jin said as he now shot five times, each with different elements and they caused different effects on the curved pillar. The fire destroyed it, the ice froze it, the earth pierced it, the electrical fizzled the pillar, and lastly pure magical energy.
The ammo clip did the iconic cling sound and it flew out which Jin showed that the Wand Rifle was empty.
"And even if you are out of bullets, you can use your magic to shoot as well. Focus your energies and image your fireball into the size of the bullet. Then shoot." Jin said all of these while raising a rock wall about 500 metres afar and then when he shot the rock wall.
It went faster than the fireball that the Trainees had shot out and it was extremely precise that it only made a small minute hole through the rock wall.
Now that the trainees were all equipped with Odin's Lesser Jewels, they naturally zoomed into the rock wall and saw the damage done by Jin. "You can be as precise as possible or…" Jin shot once more, the projectile speed and size were the same but the moment the fire projectile touched the wall, the entire rock decimated into thousands of pieces as it exploded right in front of them.
"Of course, having the bullet would be the most advisable as it reduces the amount of mana that you are using.
After all, the bullet is all partially enchanted with mana so that it reacts to your spell invocation as you used your Wand Rifles." Jin said and the rest were excited that they were able to use new gadgets especially when they were fighting against the strongest disciples of the Grand Sage of Ress.
"I had decided that this is the additional regime you need to do before entering the next dungeon portal. Because the next one will test your shooting skills to the limit as well as your survival skills.
Oh, and while some of you are practicing your shooting…" Jin snapped his fingers and suddenly right above them, he was filled with huge hula loops with arrows on it as well as the ground shaking to raise mountains far away from them.
"As you can see, there are ten mountains. Decimate the mountains into nothingness is one of your objectives but with your S rank Relics, you have to shoot down all the targets in the mountains first to be allowed to destroy the mountain. No bullets are provided this time around. That is one of the two objectives. The second objective is to learn the float magic and fly around that obstacle course.
Completion course time. 30 seconds."
Jin said and waved them goodbye. He was not going to see them for another 'two weeks'. "Be sure to do it properly, or else the next portal will be harder~"
