Chapter 106
C106 – The Pitiful must Have Something to be Hated
At that moment, Fann Jian was the picture of misery.
Yet, Jiang Hao had no interest in acknowledging him.
A quick glance at the astute Xia Qin was all it took for Jiang Hao to understand her motives.
But Jiang Hao wasn’t about to incur a debt of gratitude to Xia Qin on account of a fool.
He fixed Fann Jian with a steely gaze and issued a chilling warning.
“Beat it, or I’m calling the cops!”
Fann Jian, choked with sobs, stubbornly refused to budge.
Jiang’s parents, ever compassionate, found the scene unbearable and kept casting pleading looks at Jiang Hao.
But Jiang Hao was no soft touch; he had no patience for fools who mistook their arrogance for superiority.
With a sharp command, he snapped, “Stand up!”
Fann Jian, still feigning helplessness, sought to elicit sympathy from Jiang’s parents and the others, yet remained defiantly seated.
Losing his patience, Jiang Hao grabbed Fann Jian by the collar and hoisted him up with ease, as if he were no more than a lifeless rabbit.
Fann Jian’s face twisted in terror.
In the next instant, to the astonishment of onlookers, Jiang Hao hauled Fann Jian out of the restaurant and unceremoniously dumped him on the street.
Fann Jian tumbled and rolled several times, while Jiang Hao strolled back into the Jiang Family restaurant as if it were just another day.
Picking himself up, Fann Jian looked back at the unyielding Jiang Hao with despair in his eyes, which quickly turned to resentment before he walked away.
Back inside the Jiang Family restaurant, Jiang Hao beckoned everyone to take their seats. He turned to Xin Er, who had regained a bit of her vitality, and asked gently,
“Xin Er, do you enjoy the dishes your brother makes?”
Xin Er looked up at Jiang Hao with a radiant smile.
“I love them, I really, really do!”
The child’s words overflowed with affection, beyond what words could convey.
Seeing this, smiles spread across the faces of all present.
Jiang Hao, grinning, offered, “Well, if you love them that much, Xin Er, you’re welcome to come over anytime. I’ll be happy to cook for you. How does that sound?”
Upon hearing the news, Xin Er’s face lit up with joy. She spun around, her eyes brimming with hope as she gazed at Xia Qin.
Xia Qin felt torn.
She longed for Xin Er’s swift recovery but couldn’t keep imposing on others.
Jiang Hao, perceptive of Xia Qin’s predicament, reassured her, “There’s no need for concern. I’m fond of Xin Er, and you’ve been of assistance to me today.”
Xia Qin’s eyes welled with gratitude. “I can’t thank you enough, Mr. Jiang, and to your brother and sister as well!”
Without hesitation, she produced a bank card and extended it toward him. “Mr. Jiang, here is a million. It’s all I can offer as a gesture of my deepest thanks. Please accept it.”
Jiang’s parents were taken aback by her gesture.
Jiang Hao regarded Xia Qin with a hint of astonishment. He had sensed she was no ordinary person, yet her generosity was unexpected—a casual offering of a million!
But he believed in earning wealth honorably.
He couldn’t take the money.
Gently pushing the card back, Jiang Hao clarified, “My help isn’t motivated by money but by my affection for Xin Er.
And I certainly don’t lack funds.”
“Look, if you want me to keep preparing delicious meals for Xin Er, please take your card back. But if you’d prefer I don’t, then leave the card, and we’ll part ways here.”
