Chapter 132
Chapter 132
C132 – Mutated Cabbages
Upon seeing the flower pot, Jiang’s mother suddenly remembered.
It seemed that she had taken this very pot from Jiang Hao’s room.
When she had moved it earlier, it had contained only a small green sprout.
But to her astonishment, upon returning that afternoon, she found a fully formed cabbage nestled within!
She had assumed someone had whimsically replaced the sprout with a mature cabbage!
Yet Zixuan and her husband both denied swapping it, she hadn’t touched it, and Hao hadn’t been home.
She had half-joked that their home was haunted!
Now, observing Hao’s demeanor, it appeared he might have an explanation.
“Hao, what’s this all about? How did a cabbage this size just appear in the pot?” Mrs. Jiang inquired with a mix of curiosity and bewilderment.
At her words, Jiang’s father and Jiang Zixuan turned their attention to Jiang Hao.
Jiang Hao, coming to his senses, eyed the cabbage before him, pondered briefly, and then revealed,
“Mom, this is a mutated vegetable seed I developed through hybridization in my spare time.
It grows rapidly, and what’s more, consuming cabbage from this mutated seed can enhance beauty and complexion!”
Jiang’s father, mother, and Zixuan were taken aback by his revelation.
Since when had Jiang Hao delved into such research?
Then, Jiang’s mother, struck by a sudden thought, quickly pressed,
“Hao, you mentioned it grows quickly. How long does it take for it to mature from planting?”
Jiang Hao paused, momentarily caught off guard by his mother’s question.
He recalled planting it at eight in the morning, and now it was three in the afternoon.
“Mom, it takes roughly six to eight hours for it to grow from seed to maturity!”
The family collectively inhaled sharply at his response.
“Hiss…”
They stared, eyes wide with amazement, at the cabbage occupying the flower pot on the table.
Even Jiang Hao was startled by the rapid growth.
Typically, a cabbage’s growth cycle spans fifty to sixty days!
Yet, the cycle for these mutated cabbage seeds had been drastically reduced to a mere six to eight hours!
This was a reduction by a factor of over two hundred—a truly astounding feat!
Jiang’s father, mother, and Zixuan gazed at him as if he had performed a miracle.
Feeling the weight of his family’s gaze, Jiang Hao squirmed uncomfortably. With a playful twist of his fingers, he said in a sheepish tone, “Dad, Mom, I know I’m quite the looker, but is it really necessary to stare like that? I’m getting bashful here!”
His quirky antics sent the family into a fit of laughter. “Oh, cut it out, you’ve never been more vain!” Jiang’s mother teased, tapping him on the forehead before giving him an affectionate eye roll.
In the midst of the laughter, Jiang’s father’s demeanor shifted to one of concern. He zeroed in on the crux of the issue, his voice taking on a grave tone. “Hao, does anyone else know about this?”
The sudden seriousness from Jiang’s father sent a ripple of tension through the room. Jiang Hao was well aware of his father’s fears. The old adage was clear to him: innocence breeds no suspicion, but possession of a treasure brings trouble.
“Don’t worry, Dad. I handled this all by myself; no one else knows,” he reassured.
Jiang’s father exhaled in relief, but his serious expression lingered as he addressed Jiang Hao, Jiang’s mother, and Jiang Zixuan with utmost caution. “My dear wife, Hao, Zixuan, we must keep this matter within these walls.”
Understanding the gravity of the situation, Jiang’s mother, Jiang Hao, and Jiang Zixuan all nodded in agreement.
“Okay, Dad, lighten up. I’ll whip up some dishes with this big cabbage and give you all a taste of something special!” Jiang Hao tried to lift the spirits, snapping the cabbage from its stem and dashing into the kitchen, cabbage in tow, disappearing like a puff of smoke.
