Chapter 216 - Scratches
As the grandfather and grandson duo approached their home, they were met with a crowd of adults and children buzzing around Jiang Hao's car with lively chatter.
It turned out that during the short time Jiang Hao had been out with the Old Master, word of his arrival in a luxury car had already swept through Jiang Village.
Curiosity drew many onlookers.
Upon spotting Jiang Hao, the crowd immediately showered him with greetings.
“Hao Hao, when did you get back?”
“Hao Hao, is this your car?”
“Don't you have a girlfriend yet? How about considering my daughter Erya?”
……
Jiang Hao had been responding to the questions with patience, but as the crowd pressed in, the cacophony grew overwhelming.
The din left Jiang Hao's head spinning, and the villagers' fervor took him by surprise.
Could they be any more enthusiastic?
For a brief moment, Jiang Hao was taken aback by the attention.
Seeing the scene, the Old Master flashed a mischievous grin and quietly slipped away, leaving Jiang Hao to fend for himself amidst the throng.
Jiang Hao found himself in a bind, especially knowing the burly man trying to set him up with his daughter.
His name was Jiang An, and Jiang Hao had met his daughter Erya: a robust and imposing figure with a temper to match.
Jiang Hao had had a taste of her temperament before!
“Her as my girlfriend?”
The thought alone sent a chill down Jiang Hao's spine!
He dashed out of the crowd, intending to seek refuge at home.
But just as he was about to enter, he noticed a glaring scratch on the side of his car parked by the curb.
Jiang Hao furrowed his brow, moved closer, and rubbed the mark, only to realize it was indeed a scratch.
Anger welled up inside him.
Hadn't his car seen enough trouble already?
He had only just bought it, and it had already been a target for a scam, and now, within days, it had been vandalized!
The villagers, driven by curiosity, followed him and gasped in shock at the sight.
“Damn, who did this to the car?”
Suspicion rippled through the crowd as they exchanged wary glances, each person's face mirroring doubt.
Yet among them stood someone with a thick layer of makeup, bright red lips, and a rather stylish appearance.
A woman in her thirties was seen pulling along a grimy little boy. When she caught the questioning glances of the people around her, a flicker of panic crossed her eyes, and she instinctively pulled the boy behind her to conceal him.
Then, a somewhat plump middle-aged woman spoke up softly, “Hao Hao, this car's got to be worth a pretty penny, right?”
Jiang Hao shook his head and replied, “The car itself isn't all that expensive, but fixing the scratched-off paint is a real hassle. So I'm asking everyone to please keep an eye on the kids and make sure they don't go scratching it with metal pieces or anything like that!”
While speaking, Jiang Hao's gaze drifted to a woman standing at the back of the crowd. Her attire set her apart from the rest. She caught Jiang Hao's look and, flustered, quickly averted her eyes.
With the help of his Spell Breaking Eye, he had discovered that it was her unruly child who had damaged his car with a metal plate. Frustration mixed with resignation filled him. Since they were all from the same village, he refrained from pointing fingers and settled for issuing a cautionary word.
Jiang Hao's remarks caused a collective furrowing of brows. It sounded like he was insinuating that one of their children had vandalized his car. The crowd bristled with indignation. Was Jiang Hao overstepping? They were there to help him, and now he was casting aspersions on their kids?
In a flash of anger, one of the mothers slapped her child on the behind with a sharp “Slap!” and demanded, “Tell me, was it you, you little rascal!?”
