Chapter 85
Chapter 85
C85 – Ignorance
“Thank you, Jiang Hao,” Yuan Hong expressed his gratitude.
Despite Yuan Hong’s skepticism, he wasn’t alone in his disbelief. Even the normally admiring students of Grade 12, Class 8, found Jiang Hao’s claim hard to swallow. After all, a cold medicine that could cure with just one dose was unheard of!
At that moment, Yuan Hong approached the lectern with the medicine bottle in hand. He set down the test papers, uncapped the bottle, and prepared to sample a few pills.
He didn’t overthink it; Jiang Hao was his student, and surely he wouldn’t do anything to harm him.
But as he opened the bottle, Yuan Hong hesitated.
“This…”
“Jiang Hao, is this really just one pill? There’s nothing else mixed in?” Yuan Hong asked, a hint of embarrassment in his voice.
“Professor, it’s just one pill, and that’s all it takes to cure it!” Jiang Hao assured him.
Jiang Hao was aware that the idea of a single-dose cold medicine might raise eyebrows, but he knew the power of his pill was beyond comparison to any cheap imitation.
The true effectiveness of the cold medicine was a secret known only to Jiang Hao himself.
The others, overhearing Jiang Hao’s claim, were openly skeptical as they murmured among themselves.
“Just one pill can cure a cold? It sounds like something straight out of a martial arts tale.”
“Wow, when did our scholar-lord turn into a wandering healer?”
“Teacher, maybe you shouldn’t take it. Medication shouldn’t be taken lightly!”
Yuan Hong listened to the murmurs and discussions below.
At that point, Liu Xuan, who was particularly resentful of Jiang Hao for his sudden rise and for stealing the spotlight that once belonged to him, stood up to intervene.
“Teacher, please don’t take it. How could a pill of unknown origin possibly cure your cold?” he protested, turning to give Jiang Hao a look of deep mistrust.
“I’ve never heard of a single pill that can cure a cold!” he exclaimed.
Jiang Hao, hearing this, couldn’t help but retort.
“The view from the bottom of a well is limited! Just because you haven’t heard of it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. There’s a lot you haven’t heard of!”
Jiang Hao’s sharp comeback left Liu Xuan at a loss for words.
“You…” Liu Xuan pointed at Jiang Hao, his face turning beet red with frustration.
“Alright, thanks for your concern, Liu Xuan. Please have a seat!”
Yuan Hong interjected to halt the ongoing debate.
He eyed the pill in his hand with uncertainty.
Especially when he read the bold words on it, his hesitation deepened.
“Super Cold Medicine!”
It almost felt like something out of a wandering quack’s satchel!
Inwardly, he was resistant.
Yet, as he looked up and met the clear gaze of Jiang Hao in the back row, he felt cornered.
Ultimately, he made up his mind. He trusted Jiang Hao’s judgment; his own ignorance didn’t mean it wasn’t worth a try.
“Alright, let’s all calm down. Jiang Hao means well. I trust that he wouldn’t play a prank on a teacher.”
With the chatter quelled, Yuan Hong popped the pill into his mouth, grabbed his water cup, and took a sip.
It was just a cold pill. If there were any issues, he could always get checked out at the hospital later.
After taking the medicine, Yuan Hong turned his attention back to the test papers.
“Alright, now let’s dive into this test paper!”
……
Jiang Hao was thrilled to see Yuan Hong’s trust.
Worried about the medicine’s efficacy, he hurriedly queried the system once more.
“System, the super cold medicine is safe, right?”
“Host, rest assured, a system’s product is always top-notch!”
Yet, the system’s assurance brought back memories of Jiang Hao’s earlier embarrassment, leaving him at a loss for words.
Trust you? Yeah, right! You’re nothing but trouble, old man!
