Orc Hero Story: Discovery Chronicles

Chapter 77.1

Chapter 77.1

Orc Hero Story

The Sage underwent a transformation, and his massive body crashed through the cathedral’s roof, causing it to collapse. At the same time, some people sprang into action.

Carrot was the first to act. With her charming magical eyes, she instantly immobilized the two human knights.

A bit slower, Bougainvillea also sprang into action, but the nameless woman was even faster. She deftly countered the elf’s dagger, causing splatters of blood from Bougainvillea’s body.

Thunder Sonia and Nazar, on the other hand, took a bit longer to react. They were distracted by the monster, but their primary target was clear: Poplatica.

Poplatica, an expert at escapes, had used the “Shadow Crossing” magic to evade from various locations. But her escape was thwarted. The harpy woman intercepted Nazar’s sword, while the lizardman protected Poplatica.

Thunder Sonia’s magic incinerated the lizardman, and Nazar’s second strike massacred the harpy woman, but it was already too late.

Poplatica’s magic had been completed.

Quietly, four figures disappeared into the shadows, leaving behind only the corpses of the harpy and the lizardman.

Naturally, Poplatica still held the human Scriptures in her hand.

“Wait!”

But when they shouted, the four figures had already vanished into the darkness.

“Shadow Crossing” was a split-second magic. If it was known to have been used, it was not impossible for an elven mage like Thunder Sonia to trace it and follow. But…

“Gruaaahhhhh!”josei

Within the ruined cathedral, the monster moved.

Instead of pursuing the enemy, they had to rescue the two stunned human knights from the collapsing debris and escape. However, everyone present was experienced warriors, and they easily managed it and returned to the surface.

“What… is that thing?” Nazar looked at the Sage with a perplexed expression.

In the moonlight, the Sage’s appearance was hard to describe. He was approximately the size of a dragon, but he looked like a faceless reptile in the head, with only rough and grotesque protrusions resembling a mace. He had wings, not as robust as a dragon’s, but rather translucent, like those of a killer bee: four pairs of them. His front limbs had human hands with five fingers instead of paws, while his hind legs had horse hooves. Both his fingers and hooves shone white with claws that, for some, might have conveyed a sense of holiness, were it not for the fact that they were part of “that”. It was a thoroughly repulsive monster.

He had never seen a creature like it. Well, perhaps if he delved into old memories, he might have the feeling of having seen a similar monster in the illustrations of the fairy tales he read as child, but no one remembered the specific details of those stories.

“What… the heck is that thing?”

“I don’t know, but judging by those claws…”

“Are you telling me that’s what humans used to worship as a god?”

“If that’s the case, could our gods be…?”

The human knights, elven archers, and beast warriors shuddered. The monster had claws identical to those of the human Scriptures. They instinctively realized that it was a part of that creature. If that were the case, what had they been worshipping as gods?

“That can’t be true! The Sage has never seen the form of a god! There may have been creatures so repulsive in ancient times, but they don’t deserve to be venerated as gods! That thing is just trying to scare us and keep us under its control!”

Thunder Sonia’s passionate words shook everyone out of their fear-induced stupor.

“Anyway, we have to deal with this creature and then pursue Poplatica! We’ve come this far; we can’t let them escape!”

Just then…

“!”

The monster looked at Nazar and the others. No one knew where his eyes were, but they could still feel his gaze. A chill ran down their spines. The monster raised its massive hand towards them…

Without doing anything, he passed through the cathedral and began to advance towards the castle.

“We can’t allow it! The king is in the castle!”

“Northpole should be able to escape on his own, but we can’t just ignore it!”

In the castle, there were dignitaries from various nations: The Human king, the Elf King, the Dwarf Grandmaster, the Beast Queen, and their respective guards. All of them would soon realize the abnormal situation and attempt to escape. However, it wouldn’t be a valid reason to leave the monster alone and pursue Poplatica.

“Damn it, even though his appearance has changed, he’s still the Sage!”

Despite his transformation, he retained the intellect of the Sage. He knew how to immobilize everyone in this situation. Nazar shouted:

“We need to get the monster away from the castle! If the Sage still has some reason left, he won’t focus on it when we become his opponents.”

“Getting him away from the castle, does it mean guiding him towards the city? What about its people?”

“That’s a good point!” Nazar, the Human prince, showed a frustrated expression. However, it was time to make a decision. He was the only one here with the authority to make decisions about the Human city.

“We, the Human races, in this abnormal situation, will undoubtedly survive! We have to fight!”

“Very well, let’s go!”

With Thunder Sonia’s words, the battle began.
