Orc Hero Story: Discovery Chronicles

Chapter 79.1

Orc Hero Story

The magic “Newt” transforms the user into the desired form. Originally, it didn’t make much sense for stronger creatures, like dragons, to use it. However, when humans used it, they could transform into a formidable being capable of laying waste to anything in its path.

Caspar had transformed into a fantasy creature, resembling a dragon from afar but a completely unknown monster. Undoubtedly, this form was not that of the original creature from which the Human Scriptures originated. It was a fictional being depicted in a book that Caspar had read in the Royal Library. How and why it was illustrated remained a mystery. Perhaps it was the work of a dreamer of the time, the son of a noble with artistic talents, or maybe an abstraction of past disasters. In any case, the image had left a strong impression on Caspar. He chose this form because when he saw that creature, he felt intense fear.

However, the “Newt” magic had several weaknesses. One of them was that the magic could influence the mental state of the transformed creature.

Currently, Caspar was consumed by an inexplicable impulse for destruction.

Experiencing such a strong desire for destruction was unexpected. He didn’t feel this way when he had transformed into a dragon.

Caspar made an effort to calm his mind and assess the situation. He was in a human city, a place for which his companions had fought and risked their lives against the orcs. He couldn’t allow his destructive impulse to overwhelm him.

On the other hand, Caspar’s role was that of a distraction. He had to help Poplatica and his companions escape. That was the purpose of his transformation. So, Caspar targeted the soldiers surrounding him.

Thanks to this form, the attacks from humans barely affected him. Thunder Sonia and the others, who had been a nuisance, had disappeared without a trace. Bash, who had cut off one of his fingers and then The Sage made him crash into debris in retaliation, had fallen silent. Caspar couldn’t believe that the hero who had defeated a dragon would die from such a wound. That man, the dragon slayer, was not a creature weak enough to be defeated by something like that. Surely, he would rise again soon.

In any case, while he had the advantage, Caspar decided to break through the human army’s right flank. If he could defeat them now, he could escape in the opposite direction that Poplatica and the others had taken. From there, he could head towards the sea, use “Newt” to transform into another creature, and escape through the air.

While thinking of this plan, he attacked the human army. However, what a source of pride it was. Although this army was improvised and probably ill-prepared, with incomplete equipment, they maintained an uninterrupted formation and impenetrable defense. They pushed when they needed to push and retreated when they needed to retreat. The beautiful coordination of humans was evident. How had creatures clearly weaker and not inherently strong managed to become the victors of the war? How had they continued to fight for thousands of years? The answer lay in their way of war. It was the personification of humanity. Three years had passed since the end of the war, and memories were fading, but their bodies still moved with precision. It was a fighting style engraved in their souls.

Unfortunately, it was just a way for humans to fight among other humanoid races. It might work against formidable magical beasts to a certain extent, but it was not a suitable combat method for creatures with a certain level of strength. It was not a way to defeat a dragon.

Caspar unleashed his magic: “Onager Comet”. This advanced earth magic caused numerous fiery rocks to rain down, sweeping over a wide area.

The torrent of magical power emanating from his enormous body covered a much larger area than Caspar used to produce, sweeping away the soldiers. As other soldiers tried to fill the gaps, Caspar’s front paws crushed them. There was no way to stop him.

Although a furious onslaught of magic came from the left flank, most of it was deflected by his skin, and what reached his flesh barely caused any damage.

Caspar lamented having to defeat the Human army in this way, the same army he had once been proud of. With these thoughts in his mind, he continued to advance.

“Groooaaaaooh!”

Suddenly, a sharp pain pierced through his heel. Caspar struggled to move his heavy body and turned to look: It was Bash, the Orc Hero. The only person he couldn’t ignore. Bash was probably the only one here who could effectively strike this “monster”.

Bash had inflicted a significant wound on Caspar’s hind leg. It seemed he had hit the calf tendon. It might not be a major issue in this form, but it could pose problems when he returned to his original form. Healing magic couldn’t fully restore his body after such transformations. It was a clear weakness of “Newt”. Caspar could use healing magic, so it wasn’t a significant problem for him. However, completely healing this body was a challenge with healing magic alone. After all, healing magic was not suitable for treating gigantic creatures. Otherwise, Caspar wouldn’t have let Bone die. It was inconceivable that the man known as the Sage couldn’t completely heal his wife’s mortal wound.

“Grurrrrreaaaah!”

At the same time, a surge of destructive impulse erupted within him. The rage of losing his wife; the frustration that his power fell short; the restraint in his vengeance exercised for the sake of his son. He understood that it was inevitable. The title of Sage was not just for show, and restraining himself as he did was the best, logically speaking. But now, his emotions were running wild.

“Graaaaoaaaaooh!”

He struck with his enormous forearm. Bash easily dodged the attack, but Caspar had cast magic in the direction of the evasion. It was light magic, “Heat Line”. An original magic developed by Caspar that condensed light into a single line and shot it toward the target to dissolve it. However, it veered off course and hit elsewhere. In the middle of the air, a radiant fay appeared. A species beloved by light and wind: a Fairy. A creature entirely unrelated to the dedication that protected Bash. But with that fairy acting as a defense, “Heat Line” wouldn’t work. Challenging such a race with light and wind magic was an act befitting a fool.

Frizcop: Hey people, a question.

I’m looking for this game made in RPG maker about four friends transported to another world and it’s also full of humor. Or so I remember, does anyone know what it’s called? I remember playing some years ago, but I want to play it again.

Sorry to use this space with something unrelated to the novel, but if you could do me this favor, I would be very grateful.

Found it. The game was Doom & Destiny ^^
