Chapter 208: Tell Me About the Person You Talked About
“Yangyang!”
“Where are you, Yinyin?”
“I’m… at home.”
Mu Siyin lied to Ji Yang because she did not want her friend to call her clingy.
“Okay. I was working at the records department just now and went through some files. I don’t think that our station has your sister’s file.”
Upon hearing this, Mu Siyin could not help but frown. “Really?”
“Yeah. I looked through them carefully, but there was none.”
“B-but doesn’t the area where my sister got into an accident fall under your jurisdiction?”
Ji Yang was very suspicious too. “I thought so too, but I really couldn’t find anything about it. Perhaps the file was prepared by another department. Give me some more time. I’ll ask my old colleagues whether they know about this matter or not.”
Mu Siyin’s heart sank when she heard Ji Yang’s words.
“Okay. Sorry for the trouble, Yangyang.”
“Why are you so polite to me? I just wanted you to know that you shouldn’t be so anxious. Since it has already happened, you would definitely be able to find out some truth behind it.”
“Yeah, I get it. Were you working overtime just now?”
“Yeah. My superiors wanted me to fill in for someone’s position at the last minute, but it turned out to be a fruitful shift.”
“Okay. Let’s have lunch together later and hang out after that.”
Since Mu Siyin had asked, Ji Yang would definitely agree to it. The latter instantly nodded her head. “Okay.”
Shi Beiyu picked Shi Ran up not long after he left the villa.
Once Shi Ran got into the car, he looked at Shi Beiyu suspiciously and asked, “Tell me, Brother. Why do you want me to find you a medium so suddenly? Did something happen?”
Shi Beiyu paused for a while before he nodded his head. “Yeah.”
A shiver instantly ran down Shi Ran’s spine.
The man widened his eyes in disbelief and said, “What… what did you bump into, Brother?”
“If I told you, would you solve it for me?”
Shi Ran hurriedly shook his head.
“Tell me about the person you talked about.”
Shi Ran immediately said, “I heard that Master Hu is the real thing. People have gone to him for help, but he has a very peculiar temper. He only stays in a small temple that worships the God of Land. He won’t just help anyone, and that is why I want you to go for yourself.”
Upon hearing this, Shi Beiyu knitted his brows slightly and nodded. “Okay.”
After an hour’s car ride, they finally arrived in a small village in West City.
Like what Shi Ran said, a tiny temple stood not far from the entrance of the village.
The Land Temple looked rather old and was as small as Shi Ran had said. From the outside, the temple and the tiny lawn in front of it looked no bigger than a hundred square meters.
Shi Beiyu got out of the car and headed toward the courtyard along with Shi Ran.
The moment they stepped foot into the courtyard, they could immediately smell the scent of burning incense.
On the lawn stood an incense burner that was as tall as a human being. Thick smoke emitted from the burner and covered the entire place.
Shi Beiyu stood idly on the ground as his eyes scanned around his surroundings. He immediately spotted an old man, with a tree branch in his white hair, sitting at the side of the building. He was playing chess with himself while stroking his beard.
The old man was dressed in grey. Other than the striking tree branch on his head, there was nothing unusual about him.
There seemed to be no one other than the old man at the corner of the courtyard. As such, that should mean that this man was Master Hu.
Shi Ran noticed how focused the old man was on his game of chess. The former was just about to get the old man’s attention when Shi Beiyu suddenly stopped him. Then, he paced forward himself.
Master Hu was holding a white chess piece in his left hand. He did not know where to place the piece, and creases began to form on his old face.
Shi Beiyu stood rooted on the ground for a while. Then, he leaned forward to pick up a white piece to place it on an empty spot…
