Chapter 229: Just Give It to Me
Shi Beiyu answered as a matter of course, “I just want to see yours.”
Mu Siyin laughed helplessly. She furrowed her brows as she looked at him and said, “Do you know what you look like now?”
Shi Beiyu raised an eyebrow. “What?”
Mu Siyin laughed. “Like a child.”
Who would have thought that the famous Young Master Shi from the capital had such a childish side?
Mu Siyin was surprised as she had never seen this side of him.
When Shi Beiyu heard himself being called a child, he did not know whether to laugh or cry. He lifted his finger to brush against Mu Siyin’s nose and chuckled. “You’re the first person to describe me that way.”
Mu Siyin snorted. “The others are just afraid to say so.”
Shi Beiyu inched closer to her. “Only you dare say so.”
Mu Siyin winked. “I’m just being honest.”
Shi Beiyu burst out laughing. “Quickly, get it out and let me see.”
Upon hearing that, Mu Siyin sighed softly. “Alright, I’ll satisfy your curiosity.”
She then took out the box, opened it, and handed it over to Shi Beiyu. “Here, this is it.”
Shi Beiyu raised his hand and took over the box. He looked at the bright-colored jade and nodded slightly. “Yeah. It is indeed a good piece of jade.”
Mu Siyin smiled. “This is my mother’s relic. It is usually locked in the box, but it kind of came in handy today.”
Shi Beiyu took out the jade and looked at the exquisite engraving before turning to look at Mu Siyin. He said, “It seems like I haven’t received any gift from you yet.”
Those words stunned Mu Siyin, and she widened her eyes to glare at him.
‘Is he…’
Before she finished her thoughts, Shi Beiyu continued, “I’ll just take this as a return gift.”
When Mu Siyin heard that, she immediately responded, “But…”
“But what?”
Mu Siyin looked conflicted. “But it is my mother’s relic.”
“So what? Can’t it be gifted to the son-in-law?”
Mu Siyin added. “It’s not that. This… It seems like this was given to my mom as a token of love.”
Upon hearing that, Shi Beiyu recalled that Uncle Zhong had questioned him about the words engraved at the back of the jade when he just got home. As this thought crossed his mind, he could not help but turn the jade around.
Since Shi Beiyu had good eyesight, he could read the words engraved on it with just a glance.
He looked at Mu Siyin doubtfully. “Did your father give this to your mother?”
A little torn, Mu Siyin shook her head. “I’m not sure either. I don’t think my father would be so affectionate!”
Shi Beiyu knew what she meant and nodded slightly. “It could also be your mother’s former lover.”
Mu Siyin nodded. “I think so too.”
Shi Beiyu, however, redirected the topic. “No matter who gave it to your mother, it’s up to your disposal. Just give it to me.”
Mu Siyin felt helpless. “Do you really like this jade?”
Shi Beiyu raised his eyebrows. “Are you reluctant to give it up?’
Mu Siyin burst into laughter. “Why would I? It’s just… The words behind contain my mother’s name. I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to just give it to you. Let me get your name engraved on it before giving it to you.”
Shi Beiyu was surprised, to say the least. “You know how to engrave jades?”
Mu Siyin lifted an eyebrow. “Of course. Don’t you know what my major is?”
Shi Beiyu laughed. “Alright, then engrave it now.”
Mu Siyin frowned. “How am I supposed to do it now? I don’t have the tools.”
Shi Beiyu replied, “Uncle Zhong should have it.”
Mu Siyin’s eyes immediately lit up. That was right. Uncle Zhong liked to tinker with those things every day, so he should have an electric engraving pen for the jade.
