Chapter 85: You Can Pretend To Be Sick
Mu Siyin did not respond even after a while, so Ji Yang spoke up, “Hello? Can you hear me, Yinyin?”
Mu Siyin instantly came back to her senses and acknowledged her before saying, “Congratulations, then. You can finally fulfill your dream of being a righteous person by serving your country. I think that’s really selfless of you.”
“I’m not as amazing as you make me sound. I just want to give my all to help those in need.”
“Okay. Has the time been confirmed yet? Let’s go out for a meal. If not, I’m not sure when I’ll see you again.”
Ji Yang guffawed. “We’re leaving tomorrow afternoon. Let’s go out tonight instead.”
“Sure, okay.”
After hanging up the phone, Mu Siyin could not but ponder with a frown on her face.
Yangyang would be leaving tomorrow. What should she do to stop her from going to Fengcheng?
She was deep in thought when her phone rang again. Thinking that it was from Jiyang, she lowered her head to see that it was Shi Beiyu instead.
She reluctantly sighed as she raised her hand to answer the call. “Hello?”
Having heard the worry in her voice, Shi Beiyu asked, “What’s going on? Why do you sound so down?”
Mu Siyin was impressed by how sharp Shi Beiyu was. How did he know that she was in a bad mood just by listening to her “hello”?
Since Mu Siyin did not reply, Shi Beiyu asked again, “Who were you talking to just now?”
This time, there was a hint of jealousy in his voice.
Mu Siyin said softly, “It was my friend. She has just received a mission and will be leaving the capital tomorrow afternoon. I don’t know when she’ll be back again.”
If she did not stop her from leaving, Yangyang might never come back again.
Only then was Shi Beiyu relieved. His attractive voice rose to console her. “She’ll be back after she’s done with her job.”
Mu Siyin dropped her gaze and said, “I’m just worried about her safety.”
“You should be more confident in her.”
Mu Siyin agreed, but she was still feeling uneasy. “I really don’t want her to go. What do you think I should do to make her stay?”
Shi Beiyu was no stranger to Mu Siyin’s friendship with Ji Yang. After a moment of silence, Shi Beiyu said, “If both of you are close enough, she might stay to take care of you if you say you’re sick.”
Mu Siyin had never played sick before.
That was why Shi Beiyu thought of this excuse immediately.
Upon hearing this, Mu Siyin’s eyes lit up in excitement. “You’re a genius! I’ll use this!”
Shi Beiyu laughed hopelessly and said, “Are you sure you want to do this? Won’t it affect her work?”
Mu Siyin grunted softly. “It won’t. She has just been called to duty, yet they assigned her to such a faraway place. Besides, she’s a girl. I’m really worried about her.”
“Okay, then.”
Mu Siyin said, “Well, I’ve got to go now. I need to think of an act.”
Shi Beiyu was at a loss for words.
Mu Siyin hurriedly ended the call. Then, she paced back and forth to come up with an idea to make her act look convincing. After much thought, she realized that acting sick was not a reliable excuse. What would she do if her act had been seen through?
She placed her hands on her chin as she blinked her eyes and pondered further. All of a sudden, she clapped her hands violently. “That’s it!”
She proceeded to take an icy cold shower for half an hour until she started to shiver from head to toe.
“Achoo!”
She took a towel and patted her wet hair. She simply rubbed it without even blow-drying it with the hairdryer before she started to put on some clothes and apply her makeup.
Just as she had gotten ready, Ji Yang’s call came. “Are you ready yet, Yinyin? I’ve been waiting for ten minutes.”
“I’ll be there in a second. Achoo!”
