214 Chapter 213: Old acquaintance or family?

One could say Dilian’s anger is justified but in the end, it changed nothing!

Boom!

An explosion erupted as Damon’s undead forces swept into the kingdom like a black sea. It didn’t take long for the gates to fall and soon the invasion began.

“Control the formations, change focus to the undead army, with the towers we should be able to weaken them greatly before they reach the capital!” Gerald said with a stern look on his face and Dillian nodded in agreement.

Crack!

Crack!

Everyone’s eyes widened and their faces turned pale as spatial cracks appeared within the core of the ancient formation.

Swoosh!

“I don’t think my master would be pleased to hear your plans, so I took it upon myself to correct you” Blink’s cold voice resounded from behind and everyone turned to look at the young silver-haired youth whose eyes were completely closed and he wore a sinister smile on his face. His hands cupped and his palms hidden within his sleeves, he stood and allowed his robes and hair to flutter to the fierce winds.

.....

Bang!

The formation completely shattered and almost at the same time, the magic towers which seemed to be spinning to life suddenly turned lifeless and crashed to the ground.

The barriers surrounding various parts of the kingdom, including the capital, crumbled as well. All because of this single child!

“The death mage seemed to have gotten himself a capable successor… But if you think this will be enough to save your master then you must be naive!” Gerald’s eyes revealed a flash of killing light as he spoke.

Bang!

Several figures raced towards Blink who remained unphased and with a smile on his face.

“Hmph! My master isn’t the one that needs to be saved, you are!” Blink sneered disdainfully before his body vanished in silver light, leaving the empty space for the enemies to waste their attacks on.

Boom!

Duke Hail sneered revealing his fangs before turning to Gerald with a grim look on his face.

“The formation is only damaged. It can still be fixed but it will take a while… Have the nobles gather their forces. Earl titled nobles and below are to gather their forces and block the path of the death mage and buy us some time while the rest withdraw all their forces to the capital. Set up the spatial freeze formation. That way we won’t be victims of such petty tricks!” Gerald ordered with a contemplative look on his face.

Yes, your Highness!

........

Damon stood above the clouds as he watched his undead soldier match forward into the enemy Territory. From the distance he was standing, he could see the movement of forces and soldiers across the kingdom and he frowned.

“How many will have to die before these people are willing to surrender?” Damon asked with a frown.

He didn’t need the power of souls to get stronger now, and neither did he need to increase the size of his undead forces. He sincerely didn’t fancy killing the people meant to stand by his side and defend the continent.

Bang!

Damon shot forward and in mere seconds he had crossed a few miles, appearing above the rallying army with a cold look in his eyes.

“Surrender now and no one dies” Damon’s cold voice boomed getting the attention of everyone.

They all looked up only to see the lone figure with a deep bloody hole in his chest standing in mid-air and gazing at them as if they were mere ants.

Clank!

Clank!

The army panicked and while many ran, others began picking up their weapons. The noble clan heads who are meant to lead the forces were terrified shitless. How can they be expected to take on the man who killed the son of heaven and the Archmage Kratos?

It was obvious they were sent here to die!

“After I heard you were killed at the war in the blood mountain I was sad and when you returned I was excited but also afraid that one day you will lead an army of the dead to my doorstep. Now it has happened!” the familiar voice rang, causing Damon to frown.

“It has been a long time, old man,” Damon said with a warm smile on his face.

His warm gaze was pinned on the elderly figure with bright white hair and sky blue eyes. While the entire army stood behind, Daniel Ross stepped out to meet Damon fiercely. Even though their time together was short, he refused to believe that Damon has become the monster everyone tries to make him look like.

“The original plan was to get rich and famous through you as our family mage. But you didn’t even complete your first year in the academy before leaving” Daniel Ross said with a bitter smile and Damon’s eyes widened in shock.

He had forgotten the original agreement he made with this man when he was younger. Thinking of it now, he realized he failed to keep his own part of the bargain.

Even though Daniel Ross didn’t necessarily complete his own part and take care of him throughout the entire four year plan in the magic Academy, he is still the reason he managed to enter there in the first place. Of all those Damon has come across, if he was asked to pick the two men who care for him like a son it would be Duke Hail and Daniel Ross!

“Things happened. I changed… the people you serve changed me and made me become this. I apologize for not keeping my part of the deal but the kingdom you choose to protect now is the reason for it” Damon said with an emotionless face. At this point, he was once again reminded of which side this man stands.

The shift in energy was obvious and Daniel Ross may not be a peak expert but he is someone who made it into the warrior realm. While it may be low when compared to people like Damon, it was a massive achievement when comparing him to the average man.
