265 Chapter 264: End of the beginning

The massive red eye appeared above the heavenly realm and everywhere turned dark. Damon frowned as he realized something was wrong but he didn’t bother looking. By consuming the soul of the ancestral dragon of life and death he acquired all the power of faith belonging to it, further solidifying his level in the demigod realm.

The old gods stood, ghastly pale as they gazed in the direction of the sky. This is a feeling they have never experienced before and it has to do with something more terrifying than them.

While they found it crazy Damon was calm since he considered the possibility. The god’s vein is the only means of becoming a god, then even before the old gods there must have been other gods or invading gods or more.

One thing for sure is that nothing lives in isolation so assuming you are the only human because you found yourself on an Island alone doesn’t make you right.

He just didn’t expect it to be this powerful!

Damon frowned slightly.

He could sense something more dreadful than him about to descend into this world.

“Come… I’m waiting” Damon said before slowly closing his eyes. Right now, he has gotten to this level, the old gods were not worth his time and he was sure he could win for sure if he goes against them any time. The problem now is this thing coming.

Something that can send goosebumps down his skin is not a mere God realm being.

.....

“I will see just how strong you are when the time comes” Damon muttered to himself nonchalantly before closing his eyes.

... Mortal Realm ...…

Damon had just ascended and the world was overwhelmed by a storm occasionally creating images of what is happening in the heavens through the clouds. The battle between deities is not one that anyone could ignore or fail to notice.

While this was happening it felt like the world turned black almost instantly and a mighty red eye appeared in the center, dying the world red.

Gin, Cyrus, and Elsa frowned as they stood at the peak of the Skyfall palace and watched everything taking place.

Just at that moment, explosions erupted across the world as five energy sources belonging to hosts could be felt surging dangerously. At this moment everyone’s thoughts trailed back to Cassidy and the fake hosts. According to Damon Cassidy claimed there are more of them and they can’t stop what is to come.

When Damon told Gin and the rest about this, they inwardly felt terrified but they couldn’t speak up at that time. With time, they forgot about it and even Damon standing above in the heavens seemed to have forgotten about them.

No one would think they would appear because of this being!

“Damon….” Cyrus muttered with a frown as he considered how Damon would face this terrifying being in the heavens. Meanwhile, they needed to gather themselves and prepare for the final battle.

Xiu!

At that moment a figure appeared above them with his black hair fluttering in his silver hair. His body exuded an immense death aura surging dangerously and behind him were Klien and Lucy who had their faces lowered.

Looking down the peak of the mountain were countless undead soldiers.

“This will be our last fight and our last chance to protect everything we love…. For now, we should have a temporary truce and deal with this accordingly…. When this is all over we can then deal with our issues the normal way” Blink said in a calm and aloof tone belonging to a deity.

The rainbow-colored gem on his chest was the source of all the attention directed at him but no one dared to try to steal this from him. Your chances of surviving Cyrus and Elsa combined may even be higher.

“What do you recommend?” Gin asked casually as if he were waiting to hear something.

“Much about these things is not known so I can’t say for sure and since I can’t tell if we are to expect any other surprises, it would only be fair if we remain here and prepare to defend rather than attacking,” Blink said and Gin nodded in approval.

He was satisfied by the knowledge that Damon’s successor was not a muscle head.

Or at least not completely.

“Then I will have to trouble you with the front lines while I play the role of support with the formation,” Gin said calmly and Blink nodded in agreement.

“Very well. I shall be your sword and you will be my shield. I look forward to working with you” Blink said lifelessly before vanishing instantly with Kilen and Lucy.

With Blink gone it seemed like the tense atmosphere seemed to have lessened drastically. Cyrus frowned and looked at Elsa who also had a frown.

“He gives off the same vibe as Damon, just in a different way,” Gin said with a smile.

“That’s a good sign. A man who cannot be his own man and needs to imitate his master is nothing but a failure. The originality is the difference. It’s what makes empires rise and fall ....” Gin added but this time he was only speaking to himself.

“Do you think we can win?” Elsa asked the hard question and Gin frowned before looking up to the sky.

He seemed to be lost in thought and considered a few things by pondering in silence for over a minute before speaking.

“I think this battle is not in our hands anymore. We are mere chess pieces like these fake hosts but in the hands of Damon. As long as Damon doesn’t fall, we won’t fall” Gin said calmly.

Yes, his words are right but he had decided to omit two things. The First is that the world is far different from what they think. They were pieces on the board which meant they could be sacrificed.

The second was in the form of a question…

Can Damon win against this mighty being that may have lived before the time of the old gods?
