Chapter 37

Chapter 37: Chapter 36: Suppressing the curse

It was already getting dark and the entire day was spent in Damon’s room with the rest of his team. He stood while his team strapped him up with strange glowing chains which Gin provided.

“What the hell is this?” Damon couldn’t help but ask. Just making contact with the chain already made him feel weak. It felt like his power was getting drained drastically, leaving him in a bad condition.

It didn’t take long before his legs felt too weak to stand and he fell to the ground. Bound to the wall, Damon remained silent and sighed.

“Those are the chains used on powerful rogue mages. Well not just mages but anyone. My family forges pieces of equipment like this. Now they are gone, I have it all to myself” Gin explained after a long while.

Hearing this, Damon frowned. He guessed if Gin had answered when he asked he wouldn’t let Gin put something so dangerous on him but he didn’t get annoyed. He simply chuckled and leaned back with a slight sigh.

“We have countless things to deal with now. The kingdom, then the world. The. Other guardian spirit hosts and now a werewolf who will be a beacon to the vampires and will most likely lead them to us for assistance. Isn’t that incredible?” Cyrus laughed and the other joined him too.

“You know, if we survive this, it will be safe to say we had one of the most thrilling and adventurous lives in history” Gin said.

.....

“I don’t plan on getting married” Damon said which caught everyone’s attention.

“Why? Everyone wants to settle down at the end and have a kid to carry on their legacy... a family to spend time with and all that.” Cyrus said with a confused look on his face.

“For a start, why would you want to bring your child into this cruel world. When our time has passed, we are gone and our family will be known as a family of previous guardian spirit hosts who ravaged the kingdom for their survival. Having a family after what we plan to do to survive is selfish to me. We are just putting a target on the back of an innocent woman and her child” Damon explained.

Hearing his explanation everyone was silent. They knew Damon was right they even began reconsidering. Gin especially felt disturbed. His bloodline has always hosted the guardian spirit of force due to their unique ability and they were destroyed by the empire they dedicated their service to. What stops that from repeating itself when it’s his turn?

“Then we destroy this world and rebuild it to our taste.” Klien said which caught everyone’s attention.

“We destroy everyone capable of bringing harm to the ones we love and create a world safe for them” Klein added.

There was a drawn out silence as everyone pondered on the plan which seemed rather impossible but logical at the same time.

“To be clear, you are talking about world domination, right?” Damon asked with a raised eyebrow.

“World domination? No no no. That’s impossible, we can’t do that and still have time for a family. Let’s just start small. Let’s say this kingdom will do” Klien explained hastily.

“I really Prefered the world domination plan” Damon said honestly.

“Let’s just agree to disagree. We aim to make this kingdom ours or we can simply leave behind everything and create an empire of ours when we are strong enough” Gin said and everyone nodded in agreement.

They all seemed happy with the plan but then the moonlight invaded the room and shone down on Damon. It seemed like he was its target all along. For a second Damon remained calm and cool but then he felt something inside him. A hunger and a strong urge to let go of everything and just become one with nature. His eyes let out a purple glow and his muscles began bulging. Claws and fangs could be seen sprouting out of the strangest places and for a moment even Gin and everyone were terrified.

The aura Damon gave off was not that of a normal person but that of a beast. He had the strong urge to growl but he ignored it all and focused on the sound of his beating heart. Bone-breaking sounds could be heard as his hands and legs twisted in the weirdest ways possible but even then he didn’t scream or make a sound.

He fell to the ground as his body twisted weirdly. It felt like his bones were forcefully getting reshaped. Right now all that was going through the minds of Klien, Gin, and Cyrus is how the fuck is Damon silent while ensuring all this pain. His eyes had years rolling down then. And the gangs prevented his mouth from closing properly but even within all that pain, a look of resilience could be seen in his eyes.

.........

In Archmage Kratos’ tower, Duke Hail sat with a frown on his face. For the sake of privacy, there were no teleportation seals in the dormitories but that also meant they can’t see what was happening within. Duke Hail gazed at the full moon outside and waited for the howl of a wolf.

He, Pope light, and Kratos sat in silence but it never happened. Soon the dark clouds gathered and covered the moon and the silence remained with confusion on the faces of everyone present as they all had similar questions on their mind.

The first transformation is mandatory, no one can resist the curse. How the hell is there no howl? They were expecting to step in and stop a rampaging werewolf yet that never happened which made absolutely no sense!

The Duke looked around and every other person was looking at him too with questioning eyes.

“Are you sure the curse was passed on to him?” Kratos asked with doubt very apparent in his tone.

“Yes, I’m sure” Duke Hail said with a frown.

“Does that mean he suppressed the transformation process? That would mean you have to be able to instantly shut out all your instincts as a human and focus on logic alone. That is impossible” Duke Hail seemed to be speaking to himself
