Paragon of Death

Chapter 98

Chapter 98

98 Chapter 97: Questions

He finally knew what to do but the strength to do it was no longer there. Saving the already endangered blood clan from the joint forces of the continent is not something Damon could do, especially since this could change his fate. He wasn’t sure what would happen on this trip to the center of the continent but something kept telling Damon that he may not be able to come back to the kingdom after this war. If he dared to return here after the war it would be difficult to leave.

“MOVE OUT!” A powerful voice boomed from the royal palace and the large army began moving!

In the blink of an eye, a huge force of a hundred and fifty thousand trained soldiers loyal to the Hail family began to move. Behind them were another fifty thousand special squads directly placed under Damon’s command as a brigadier general. This force included the divine martial army, created by the royal emperor, only second to the royal knights of the royal palace.

This was a strong sign of trust between the son of heaven and the young child whom he has chosen as the new lone wolf and Damon knew it. But Damon also knew that the more he allowed himself to get drawn into this crazed relationship with the royal family, the harder it would be for him to pull away.

“Move out!” Damon controlled his mana around his voice area to improve his voice, allowing it to boom across the capital!

With that single order, his forces began to move and Damon simply followed in silence. He tried hard to remember every face of the countless civilians standing at the sides of the street, chanting songs of victory as a form of prayer for the large army.

“Hundred thousand soldiers here belong to the Hail’s while fifty thousand belong to the holy church and the final fifty thousand divine martial belong to Damon Ross... practically, he out ranks us in this operation.” Dennis said leisurely as he glanced at the army behind and the person leading them.

Gazing at the new Damon from a distance, everyone had to confess that this was not the little kid they all got to meet a month ago! He was a completely different person right now and this was what they found more terrifying!

No one outside Duke Hail and other high ranking nobles knew what Damon had to go through in the royal palace. Not even the Ross family is aware of this war, neither is Damon capable of reaching them before he lives.

.....

Yes, these people weren’t polite enough to let him see Daniel Ross before leaving.

............

After traveling for an entire week, the army soon departed from the Gyro Kingdom and pushed into the wild without hesitation. The immense aura surging around these people made magic beasts hiding in the shadows reluctant to make a move and the few that dared to make a move were put down almost instantly.

The army was no small one. It was made up of one spirit realm expert, four champion realm great generals, and countless warrior and human realm fighters and mages. Damon’s horse, alongside other leading figures within the army, moved behind the massive army in silence but occasionally they spoke to each other.

With her identity as a member of the Hails, Jenny was the weakest amongst the group, and only because of that did she even have the guts to stay around them. Even now she dared not speak up while they spoke.

“The blood clan is a powerful clan with extremely powerful pathways, capable of rivaling that of any force in the world... their overall number of a million members makes them the most terrifying force in the entire continent... this explains why the continent wants them gone...” Damon said and the other commanders, generals, and high level officials nodded in agreement.

The average vampire was worth at least three men. Even now, their forces may carry quality but their quality can be considered inferior in the eyes of the blood clan. Also, it’s necessary to remember that every man we lose in battle has a high possibility of becoming a member of the blood clan. This battle has been a losing battle even before it started” Duke Hail said and everyone frowned.

He was the highest in terms of authority here and of course, he was the only one present here who followed the past leaders of the Hail family into a war against the blood clan. He had the highest level of experience here too.

“That means we need not act impulsively when dealing with the enemy. It is very important we cooperate with the orcs and our other allies!” A man dressed in white and golden knight armor said. Behind him was a mighty Oracle surging with immense power, even Damon who had the death magic couldn’t help but feel slightly threatened.

Two champion realm paladins and Oracle are not to be looked down upon. Amongst their ranks are people trained solely to combat the forces of evil like the blood clan. Outside the forces of the Hail, only these members of the holy church have a good chance against the vast sea of vampires they are about to face on the battlefield.

“Hopefully, our allies will have a special way of dealing with the blood clan, if not, we may end up losing against them once again!’ Damon said with a stern voice and everyone nodded in agreement.

In war, the outcome is not assured until it’s all over. They were lacking the advantage in terms of numbers, so it wasn’t too shocking that Damon’s thoughts about the war were pessimistic. It’s already enough for these people that he wasn’t shaking in fear like Jenny who rode by his side.

The more she heard about the war the more terrified of it she became!

“You are not scared?” The paladin asked and Damon frowned in response.

His gaze shifted to the familiar figures at the back lines, engaging in this war as an oracle. If someone told him he would meet these people here, he wouldn’t have believed it.

It was Cyrus, Klien, and Gin.

While Cyrus and Klien got involved because they already enrolled to serve in the military during their six months internship. Gin was forced to join since he was the last living descendant of the stonehammer family. He could be considered the best enchanter and he is actually the one responsible for Damon’s armor.

His proficiency in repairing these equipment in battle is quite high when compared to other enchanters so he was also a special guest in the war.

“I almost lost my life over four times in the past six months, so no... I have no, death means little to me now” Damon responded and the eyes of the old general revealed a hint of respect for this young man.

When they were his age, they were probably enjoying the bountiful resources of their noble families. None was forced to the front lines at such a young age, as Damon.

“It doesn’t matter whether I’m ready for this or not.... In just a few years the number of the blood clan has risen to this level. If we don’t deal with them now, I will be forced to get involved in a battle with them in the future. One far fiercer than whatever I may experience here, so I think this is the best time” Damon explained and the paladin nodded in understanding.

The old Pope, Light, had a lot of respect for Damon, so it was only natural for his men to reciprocate his feelings towards Damon in this aspect. Many even say the old man pays more attention to Damon now than he does to his grandson, Cyrus Light.

“When this is all over, what do you plan to do? By that time your strength must have reached the champion realm. You won’t be needing the magic Academy anymore... You can even become the youngest champion realm expert in the history of those continents. With your newfound fame and power, what do you plan to do?” Michael Hail asked as he gazed at Damon with an interesting look in his eyes.

“I think the first thing I need to do when this is all over is meet my girlfriend... it has been a while” Damon said with a face void of emotions. Only if one pays close attention to his eyes would they notice the killing intent hidden in his words.

From a distance, only Cyrus could sense it, causing him to turn his back and shoot Damon a questioning glance. He had a good impression of Lucy, and he didn’t receive a vision like the one shown to Damon by Sol, so it was only natural for him to react in such a manner.

Damon noticed his gaze but chose to ignore it too. The difference between the life and death magic was not too far from each other. He couldn’t explain his reasons now so he showed no reaction to those actions at all, leaving Cyrus a bit disturbed.
