122 Chapter 122 Cornered Beast

(Desmond POV)

?? wait wait wait. . . you’ve got to be kidding me right? ??

Fuck, that thing is on the same level as the idiot tiger, Why my luck is always so bad? no wait, I’m not the foolish idiot challenging that behemoth beast . . . At least not this time, nope, I had already learned my lesson or something.

Unfortunately seeing the snake attackers I can’t be happy either, what the hell are those things? Somehow his appearance is a bit. . . grotesque or unnatural could be the word I’m looking for, for some reason it seemed to me that their appearance shouldn’t be like that at all, there were dark and rotten marks all over their bodies; I also don’t think those bones have to stick out of their bodies. . .well let’s see what the hunter’s book says about them.

Oh great a note from the notebook, that can only mean one thing. . . bad news, so far the notebook has only warned me when I meet beings who pose a huge threat to my life.

Even if the warning was not as obvious or definitive as when I analyzed the archangel or the four-winged serpent, I can at least know that the venom of these beasts is deadly enough for the notebook to point it out. . . why my life is not easier? I mean recently I had my body severely injured from the fight with the idiot tiger and now only a few days later I come across this, perhaps I did something to deserve such disgrace.

Although thinking about it in that same course of time I managed to make Sasha fall in love and convince her to follow me home even though I already have Claire, so I can’t say that my luck is bad. . . perhaps it is the so-called universal balance; Maybe it is a law of nature that I do not know, something like this: Risk your life and get a beauty.

All my random thoughts aside, it seems that those corrupt beasts are putting up a good fight, the largest of these seems to be of a higher level than the rest, and using pack tactics they have became quite a bit of a trouble to the snake.

Not wanting to get too close and get involved, I made a couple of gestures to Sasha trying to get her to follow me, I was thinking of circling the area a bit and getting high ground, that would give us a better vision and a strategic position in case something went wrong . . . but Sasha just looked at me confused in response to my prompts, then I remembered that it was obvious that she would not be familiar with the military sign language of my world.

.....

With no choice but to ignore my stupid mistake, I resorted to simply approaching her as quietly as possible and whispering in her ear to follow me, being able to smell the fragrance from her body was just a little bonus that I wasn’t going to despise.

As Sasha and I were moving to better ground, the fighting between the beasts continued and it was rapidly intensifying.

Apparently, the corrupted beasts were incapable of causing any real damage to the metal serpent, but that did not prevent them from continuing to attack it from any angle at any opportunity they encountered.

The snake tired of the constant harassment of these inferior beasts, whipped them with enormous force using its tail full of metallic scales, the scene was brutal; with a single blow three of the corrupted beasts were shattered and another was completely crippled.

But the one who seemed to be the leader of the corrupted beasts took the opportunity to climb onto the neck of the snake and using bony protrusions like razors he lashed out furiously at the snake, even the powerful defense of the metallic snake succumbed to a flurry of powerful blows. made at such a short distance at the same point.

A second roar of anger came out of the snake due to the unexpected attack of the corrupted beast, it tried to flail vehemently but to no avail, the necrotic beast was trying its best not to let go, and meanwhile, its little minions kept harassing the steel emperor serpent making sure it didn’t have much leeway to defend itself.

Soon the serpent’s blood began to be shed by the corrupted beast that was clinging to it, but if that necrotic beast believed it would be that easy then it thought too little about the metallic serpent-level beasts.

The steel emperor serpent retracted its tail and used it to slam itself along with the unwanted passenger on it, although the blow was not powerful enough to tear the leader of the beasts apart, it was more than enough to knock him down.

Having knocked the leader out of his body, the serpent was placed in a defensive position by coiling his body, for a second I wondered what the hell the serpent was doing when he missed his opportunity to attack; but as soon as I felt the immense amount of mana that the snake was gathering around it my doubts were cleared up.

Apparently, the corrupted beasts had cornered the snake long enough for it to use its ultimate move and if my calculations are correct. . . it’s going to hurt.
