596 Chapter 596 A Fiery First Meeting
In the Astryd residence, there were always two remarkably calm people, Cecilia and Sasha. They were unlike Claire, who was quite energetic, or Revna, who was gloomy and ruthless. Cecilia and Sasha were the types who never looked for trouble and spent their time comfortably enjoying their respective hobbies.
Maybe because of that, the girls had forgotten that Cecilia and Sasha were far from being helpless birds. That was especially the case for Sasha. Sasha had cared for herself for nearly a decade after her mother’s death, spending time living in a dangerous primeval forest.
If it weren’t for Sasha being an alchemist at heart who spent most of her time in a laboratory, given her talents and the resources she had at her disposal, Sasha would be much stronger than she was. Nonetheless, Sasha was still strong. In fact, she was even stronger than Desmond, at least when it came to sheer destructive power.
When all was said and done, Sasha was a powerful fire user whose understanding and mastery of her element were at the pinnacle of what was possible for anyone.
Sasha had the pure power of the two-star class and the absolute domination of such a violent and savage element. Added to her innate talent and the power her lineage gave her, Sasha was invincible on her own level. At least, when Sasha showed her true form, she was a nearly unstoppable force best left untouched.
Silence filled the room that had previously hosted a gala as everyone stared dumbfounded at the fire-clad woman. Sasha had just given a fucking beating to the heir to the Miao clan and possible future master of the roaming cloud sect.
To many, it was simply unheard of for a woman they knew nothing about to be able to beat the powerful and famous Miao Zi Fong. Still, not everyone found it so impossible to believe.
Almost at the same time, everyone in the crowd thought of a pair of women who forged their own legend in the territory of the Roaming Cloud Sect and surrounding sects.
In a world where almost 90% of the most powerful experts were men, it was a topic of discussion whenever a powerful woman emerged, especially when they were as notorious as those two.
.....
The two most outstanding geniuses of their generation, the invincible duo, the silver dragon and the ocean butterfly, Mei Fei Long and Miao Xiauyue, two women whose names caused awe and fear. Those with the time and inclination counted only the number of famous experts who died at the hands of the duo but stopped after reaching number one hundred.
The bards in the city sang songs about their beauty and ferocity, telling stories of how the two girls ate genies for breakfast and ancient beasts for dinner. They were truly a legendary duo, and now, while looking at the woman who wore fire as a dress, people related her to those legendary women.
That was especially the case for those fortunate enough to see Mei Fei Long transform during the war two years ago. Scales made of silver Aura covered most of the girl’s body, which she used as armor and as a weapon. Its scales were said to climb her cleavage up her neck to cover the contours of her face, giving the woman an exotic and fierce appearance.
While everyone was silent, thinking about the strange woman covered in flames, the sound of a pair of wooden sandals hitting the ground rhythmically brought everyone out of their thoughts.
A nobleman in the crowd immediately blanched, remembering a trauma from years ago when he heard those very footsteps. When the nobleman searched for the source of those footsteps, there she was, the only woman in the roaming cloud territory who wore that kind of heavy wooden sandals.
Whether it was a personal taste or something else, that woman always wore that kind of wooden sandals despite their impracticality. For her enemies, hearing her slowly walk towards them was its own way of torture.
Before the nobleman snapped out of his daze and found a way out of that cursed place, the woman in question seemed to spot him in the crowd and smiled at him. The man immediately turned pale, and he no longer dared to run. Since running was not an option, one could always give up one’s dignity. “Miss Xiauyue, it’s good to see you. I didn’t know that you were invited to the gala.”
The lilac-haired woman responded with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes of the same color. “I wasn’t, but don’t worry, most people know that I don’t like to attend these events, so they are doing me a favor by not inviting me. I’m not so irrational as to get angry over such trivialities.”
The man felt that at least a third of the weight on his back had been lifted. Then, he responded with haste. “It’s good to know that Young Miss Xiauyue is so open-minded. What brings you here?”
Xiauyue looked at the man with some amusement before answering. “Even if you want to avoid the subject, you still can’t pretend it’s not my brother who just flew through a wall while it was on fire. I’m still too young to have gone blind.”
The man immediately started sweating bullets. All he wanted was for Xiauyue to be truly blind so she wouldn’t have seen that, though on second thought, she would still have heard her brother scream like a pig being slaughtered.
Fortunately for the poor man, Xiauyue no longer seemed interested in talking to him. Ignoring the fawning man, Xiauyue went straight for Sasha, who was still wearing her liquid fire dress.
Xiauyue carefully watched every aspect of Sasha’s transformation, finding the girl quite hot in almost every way. At the same time, Sasha was looking at Xiauyue. Although Sasha hadn’t heard the conversation between Sasha and that nobleman, she still felt a dangerous vibe emanating from the woman approaching her.
Remaining as calm as a calm lake, Xiauyue spoke with some amusement that did not match the atmosphere around her. “You know, that man you just threw through the wall was my brother?”
Taking precautions, Sasha increased the mana output. Her dress slowly transformed, taking on a more solid and stable appearance that made it look like some sort of fantasy armor/dress. Sasha answered only then as she stared intently at the woman who approached her. “I see. I must say that he lacks manners; he doesn’t know how to behave around a lady.”
Contrary to what Sasha expected, Xiauyue nodded affirmatively at her comment. “You’re absolutely right. If it wasn’t for my father forbidding me, I would have already given my brother an early burial; it’s really a shame for the family. To tell the truth, I came here as soon as I heard that the little wretch had run away from home to attend a party in the city. I figured he would cause trouble and wanted to catch him red-handed, but it seems he was late.”
Though tempted to believe the woman’s words, Sasha still gestured for the rest of the girls to stay away from the encounter. For some reason, even in her most powerful form, Sasha felt that she couldn’t beat the woman she spoke to and that didn’t like her.
The woman showed the expression that someone had when she just remembered something and made a comment that left Sasha and the rest of the girls speechless. “Oh, right, I almost forgot. I didn’t recognize the rest, but yours is an appearance that is impossible to find. Because of the horns and the fire dress, you must be Sasha. I guess the one with brown hair and green eyes is Claire. Desmond came with you?”
