120 Chapter 119
120 Chapter 119
The room was completely silent after Gray entered.
He could feel the pressure on his back as the two men stared at him curiously.
One had short brown hair, a trimmed bear and dark circles beneath his brown eyes. He seemed rather fit.
The other was a burly, slightly overweight man with a blonde pompadour. His small eyes were a mixture between blue and hazel and gave off a strong amount of pressure as he inspected Gray.
Aurora and Violet gave Gray a nervous look, not sure whether or not they should say anything because of the moment. Lara kept her mouth shut with a smile and sent him a silent way from behind their backs.
"Ah- I apologise for that. It's my first time seeing you, I was just surprised." Said the burly man with a light smile as his expression lightened
"Me too... You're much younger than I thought." Said the other.
'Yeah, well I'm eighteen.'
They got up from their seats before walking towards Gray and stretching out their hands towards him.
p
"And I am the excutive of this corporation you've seen today. It is also a pleasure meeting you." Said the brown haired man.
Gray shook their hands before glancing at Ruby.
She was glaring heavily at them.
"Well, why don't we take a seat? I'm sure there's much to discuss and unfold." Said Gray with a light smile.
The two looked at each other before nodding.
------
After sitting at the table, beside Ruby, they instantly got to explaining things as they broadcasted the report with the videos which were somehow able to be captured through a projector.
Ruby and the girls stayed quiet as they explained the situation to Gray.
The king had died, Gray should naturally know this as he was the one who had killed him.
The horned ones surrendered, and as a result the war had ended in the entirety of North America.
There have been no changes and updates to the zombie virus. They were currently working on a cure, but there has been minimal progress.
During this time.
Percentage of the population loss as a result of the war... 90%
Australia, Asia and Antartica have reported to have been reported to have taken over completely by races and kingdoms from another world.
Africa, South America and Europe were in an ongoing battle as their wars raged on.
Now that a continent has successfully repelled the foreign forces, humanity would finally have the time to begin their progression.
Or at least that's what it looked like.
In reality, just the war ending didn't change much. There was still countless millions of zombies roaming around. Two labyrinths which were cleared had still not been looted and lastly they didn't know what they were going to do with the horned ones.
The horned ones had surrendered after the death of their king. Many flew back flew back and escaped with their fleets through the large glowing yellow portals which manifested whilst others were captured after surrendering.
They were currently locked up in this one single refugee as it was the safest and most secure out of all of them.
Some have started to receive torture for information whilst others were soon to be enslaved. Their ranks went from the lowest to highest of the high.
They had even managed to capture a few nobles.
But right here was where the problem came in.
Ruby, the princess wants to release all of them and allow them to return back to their own world.
The king had no male children. Now that he had died she was first in line for the throne.
She planned to return with them and put an end to all of this once and for all.
But the president didn't believe it, after all why come all this way and start a war when you can leave just like that? They were obviously after the Labyrinths so even if they leave now, what guarantee was there that they wouldn't return?
"They had no choice... You don't understand... These people who you're holding up in a cell, they have families waiting for them... Their families...
If they discover that you're holding them all in a cell, they'll be infuriated and seek vengeance. Then even I won't be able to stop them." Said Ruby.
"Is that a threat?" The president asked.
"No... It's a warning. You may have beaten the king, but if I don't return there with our people, there will be many more cruel nobles wanting to avenge their sons and families who could replace him. If that happens, then it won't be something the death of a single leader can stop." Said Ruby.
She got up and stared at the president straight in the eye.
"All I want is to put a stop to this war. Isn't the virus which is killing you all already enough?" She asked.
"Again, how can we trust your words? You keep saying I want this, I want that. What guarantee is there?" The president asked.
Before Ruby could say anything else, Gray raised his hand.
"President, If I may. I think it's good to take her up on her offer." He said.
Gray let out a sigh.
"I'm not a fan of all this talk so I'll cut to the point. I'll go with her to her world, we'll return with her people, make sure she's nominated as queen and find out what it is they need and solve the problem.
Who knows, we could get a happy peaceful ending where our nations form a peace pact and exchange valuable information." Said Gray.
"What makes you so sure you can trust her?" He asked.
"She saved my life, and my sister's. I owe it to her."
The president gave out a half-hearted chuckle.
"You think, you owing her is enough to make up for freeing thousands of members of a race which killed us? Do you honestly think I would agree to it for such a trivial reason because you, yourself will personally go to scene to deal with it?"
"No, I don't think you will. But you don't have much of a choice. We're taking them back there whether it's by force or not." Said Gray.
At that instant, the tension in the room rose up once more. The two secretaries behind them sent a glare at him, as the president's gaze grew more serious.
"You don't actually believe her do you?"
Gray looked at Ruby and answered bluntly.
"I don't. I find a lot of things hard to believe. But I'm willing to take the risk. If she betrays me... Which I'm sure she won't. But if she does...
Then while I'm at their world. If I have to, I'll kill all of them and end the world there myself." Said Gray.
He didn't seem like he was joking. His expression was still and calm.
"You really think you can take all of them on your own?" The president asked.
"I do." Gray said with a slight smile.
There wasn't a hint of doubt in his eyes. It wasn't a look of arrogance, it was a look which indicated that he was fully aware of his limits and despite knowing it, he genuinely believed it was still a possible feat.
The president placed his palm on his face. "And if I refuse-"
The president's eyes widened as Gray suddenly appeared before him, leaning in from the top of the table whilst he was crouched down.
"Then I'll take them out forcefully." He added with a smile.
The instant he said that, Gray felt a sharp hint of bloodlust as the secretary's from behind the president thrust a hidden knife towards him.
*Crash!*
Just as it was close to reaching his skin, their figures crashed into the wall behind them.
Violet's eyes were glowing purple, as she sent them a cold glare.
Their eyes widened, cold sweat dripped down their faces as the temperature in the room dropped.
"Oi... What do you think you're doing?" Aurora asked with a frightening glare.
It was so cold that even her breath was visible as she spoke.
Ruby placed her arm on her battle-axe as she stared at the executive who had his hand on his hilt as if if daring him to try it.
He moved his hand away.
"Old man. Don't take it the wrong way. I'm not asking for you to do anything. I will go and deal with the matter on my own. I'm sure I'm being unreasonable, from anyone else's view point you're most likely in the right." Said Gray.
He proceeded to leap off the table before making his way towards the exit.
"But this is the apocalypse, I couldn't give a shit. And if you want to start talking about belief..." Gray clapped his hand together and smiled. "Why don't you and the executive start by telling me how long you knew all of this was going to happen for?"
The president felt a chill go down his spine. The corps executive and president stayed quiet.
Gray let out a slight chuckle.
"You see... I ended up passing by one of your refugees. And I overheard this funny thing coming from one of the managers. Something about them already knowing that the invasion was going to happen before it happened...
Something about the Labyrinths appearing in some sort of prophecy... And apparently the government knew about it." [A/N: Chapter 46]
Gray leaned in closer to the president whilst also turning to the executive.
"You all aren't hiding anything from us, right? Surely the government didn't know anything about the invasions before they happened, right? I mean if they did, you'd think they'd use their power to evacuate everyone in time...
Or at least let the countless hundreds of millions of people know ahead of time, so that maybe, just maybe they could have a slight chance to have changed their fate of having died."
Cold sweat could be seen dripping down their faces, they didn't utter a word.
"So I'll ask again. Everything which has happened so far, was all an unexpected coincidence, right?" He asked with a smile.
