Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Gray descended down the staircase, going down floor to floor. Ever since he had past the 17th floor, zombies were becoming more and more frequent.
With the use of his skill pause, the metal rod and his knife, he was able to deal with every single one he had seen.
Fortunately, there weren't any more zombie hordes around like on the 17th floor, at least not yet. He was currently on the 15th floor, poking out to see if there were any abnormalities or other threats in the area.
There was nothing out of the ordinary about the scene except for the fact that many zombies were gathered in front of a certain room door, scraping at it as if they were trying to get at the thing inside.
There was a sign on the door that read 'Room 15F'.
Essentially, the only conclusion Gray could draw is that it was either a TV that was turned on in the room which was making sounds, or there were survivors who made a mistake.
There were around five to six zombies there and they were all the zombies on the floor. No abnormals spotted.
'What's my XP and Level'
[Level: 2
XP Required For Level Up: 149/200]
The total XP he had gained so far was 76 XP from killing 38 zombies. At the time, he was a short level away from leveling up and in reality, he was eager to hit the level before heading back upstairs.
Since they were all distracted by the door and whatever was inside, the timing could not have been better for the attack.
It was hard for Gray to make any sound at all as he ran toward the zombie, his footsteps made no noise because of his shoes, even though he was running at them.
*Swoosh*
With a knife swing already underway, Gray passed by the first. At that instant, the zombie, unable to react, had its head chopped off cleanly.
[You have slain a zombie-]
Gray slammed the metal rod on his other hand directly into the face of the second closest zombie, piercing into its skull before it had a chance to react.
Gray's options for his next attack were limited, however, due to the rod becoming stuck.
Now all four zombies had turned their attention to him. The one closest to him had lunged at him from the side while the three in front rushed at him.
As he let go of the rod, a smirk appeared on his face. Instead of trying to dodge, he swung his weaponless arm vertically down at the zombie to his side that had just lunged at him.
The zombie's mouth suddenly split into two as soon as it was just ahead of his arm.
[You have slain a zombie]
[You have earned 2 XP]
Blood spurted out as each half of it's organs fell on one side of Gray. Gray had cut it in half from the head down, as he had planned.
How? He had paused it.
[Pause]
Thanks to Gray's uncut nails, the air that had moved from him having swung his hand down paused, forming a vertical thin moderately sharp line of air in which the zombie jumped right into.
This was the same move he had used when the horde rushed at him before, but this time he had to execute it.
Gray couldn't figure out how he had paused it without movement before. He tried replicating it, but it would result in only a 3D Cube of air or 2D rectangular shield of air being paused.
As Gray's ability was much deeper than he had anticipated, the first thing he did when he got back home was to analyze it further.
Gray jumped back to avoid a bite from one of the zombies in front of him. At that moment another zombie had stepped in, aiming for his legs, only to miss it.
As a result, the third zombie lunged at Gray, while the others were waiting for him to fall. Gray didn't realize they were moving together earlier.
His eyes widened in surprise as he rotated his body, mid-air, before positioning them in front of a cube of air he had paused.
Then with his knife positioned at a perfect angle, he leapt off the cube, passing right by the zombie which had leapt at him in the air.
*SWOOSH*
[You have slain a zombie]
The zombie's head flopped to the floor as Gray landed, rolling forward as he did so.
The other two zombies, from behind charged at him before he could get up, and in response, Gray swung his knife, completely missing both their necks by just a few inches as he did so.
Despite that, the smile on his face never faded.
[Pause]
Running right into the paused slash, their necks were severed of their heads.
[You have slain a zombie-
You have slain a zombie-
You have earned 4 XP]

*Knock* *Knock*
The door opened and beautiful pink haired girl emerged from one of the doors.
She had an apron on and seemed to have been cooking something. The sweet fragrance of food filled the air, Gray who was quite literally soaked in Dry blood and releasing off a foul stench was surprised. If she was cooking then that would have had to mean that the gas was working in this house.
"You stink." She spoke honestly as she covered her nose.
"No shit." He replied with a smile
"Hurry up and come in, I prepared a bath."
"Yeah, thanks."
Gray removed his shoes before entering the house. Not wanting to touch anything and get infected, he watched as she closed the door.

"Ah... This heaven..." Gray sighed contentedly.
After washing all the blood from his body with the boiling buckets of water, he entered the bath tub, which was also filled with water.
Those who lived here previously had made some really good investments, just as Gray assumed the boilers were still working and there was even a large gas tank.
'She tried using her skill to make water but the ice which she could create would end up being too dry so the amount would be minimal. It would also waste a lot of gas just to boil it down, so she just used the water from the tap.
She also made sure to properly boil the water just in case the virus could have infected the main water tank without me having even told her. She did such a Good job that it's almost scary.'
Gray, half submerged in the water with his head half submerged in the water, was suddenly jolted into reality when the bathroom doors opened.
Following that, the her beautiful half naked figure emerged. The towel covering both her privates and her full chest was the only reason it was half.
"Hurhhgh?" Gray asked, his mouth submerged beneath the water in surprise. Translation: Huh?
