As soon as he left the tomb, without waiting for Fina to speak, Richard automatically used his beak to snap the light stick and illuminate the large tomb.

“Ahooooooo!” Having saved his own life, he broke into song. “Love is a streak of light, so green it makes you panic!”

Unfortunately, only he knew what he was singing about.

What surprised Fina was that the passage connected to this tomb was straight, with no obvious slope. If this golden pyramid was similar to the internal structure of the Great Pyramid, it meant that she’d chosen the tomb of the king as her resting place. Not the queen’s tomb.

This...might just be her style.

Although not officially enthroned as a pharaoh during her lifetime, she must at least get what she wanted after her death.

Fina and Richard walked in front while Galaxy and Old Time Tea followed. They were surprised to see this gorgeous yet solemn tomb.

The stone statues of various animal gods were placed in pairs on the sides of the tomb. Some were animals, while some were half-man, half-beast. They were all carved out of black rock. They were covered in dust and looked at one another with forlorn expressions. They looked like they were waiting for the moment when the owner of the mausoleum would be resurrected.

In the eyes of those who did not understand Egyptian mythology and tradition, the atmosphere seemed a bit strange.

There were also some lower-quality gold utensils and ornaments scattered between the tombs. The way the gold was displayed made one feel like they were made of worthless metal like brass and could be simply thrown away.

The tomb itself was also covered in dust, like the early snows of winter. No one had stepped into this tomb for more than 2,000 years, and there was not a single footprint here.

As they walked between the stone statues, the statues gazed at them with their cold eyes. They inadvertently quietened their footsteps and held their breath. This was done out of fear of disturbing the sleep of these stalking beasts.

Richard was creeped out and couldn’t even sing. He wanted to comment on why they were all stone beasts. Had the ancient Egyptians living in Africa not known about the cuteness of the African Grey parrot?

It didn’t take long for them to reach the end. There was a fork ahead, one road leading up while the other led downward. The former should lead to the tomb of the king, and the latter should lead to the entrance.

Fina looked up in the direction of the former. She really wanted to go that way first. However, she knew she had to solve the problem of Peter Lee.

From the depths of the path leading downwards, there was a faint screaming sound. It was probably from Peter Lee and his team as they made a final effort to enter the pyramid. It sounded like the stone wall had been thinned and may open at any time.

“Ahooooo!” Richard took the light stick and flew to the top of the stone wall by the forked roads. He scratched the wall with his claws. He found some words, but as they were covered in dust, he could not quite make out what they said.

When he finally cleared the dust, he discovered that it was an ancient Egyptian hieroglyph that he could not understand.

Fina narrowed her eyes and glanced at the handwriting. “The death of the physical body opens the door to eternal life for the soul—this is a sentence from the Book of the Dead.”

Richard flew down and thought that he’d found something incredible, such as a spell. He wanted to get praised by Fina, because according to his understanding of Fina, Fina lost her temper faster than flipping the pages of a book.

Suddenly, they heard the sound of heavy objects sliding in the tomb behind them, followed by the loud sound of heavy objects falling. The sound would normally not have been loud, but in a silent tomb, it was.

Almost at the same time, there was a loud bang and loud cheers up front.

Fina’s face changed. Peter Lee had breached the final wall.

“Hey! Spooky! Spooky! What’s that sound? Were those animal beasts resurrected?”

Richard was so scared that he fluttered his wings, trying to fly up and almost hitting the ceiling. The light stick in his mouth fell to the ground.

Old Time Tea, who was walking at the back and could hear clearly, said, “No! It seems to be coming from the previous tomb that we were in.”

“From the tomb?” Richard looked around. “So it was from the corpse?”

After saying this, he immediately felt something was wrong. Worried that Fina might be angered by his words, he quickly changed them. “I think it is probably a bottle jar that has fallen. However, it is a pity it is not haunted. If it is, that will be good. We can have it fight Peter Lee, and we can sit back and watch the fight!”

Fina roared. “Your mouth is used to talk rubbish?”

Richard quickly flew up and took the light stick. He felt small. Why could he not use his mouth to say anything he wanted?

“Follow!”

Fina took a big step and quickly ran to the lower passageway in order to stop Peter Lee and the others as soon as possible.

Most parrots were not very good at flying. Richard’s wings couldn’t keep up with Fina’s speed, and he was soon left behind.

Old Time Tea was deeply fearful that Fina would get lost. He made a sound to Galaxy, ran past Richard, and went to follow Fina.

They came to another fork in the road. According to the layout of the Great Pyramid, the lower part should be an underground tomb, and the higher part should be the entrance. The underground burial chamber likely contained vast treasures, but Fina did not hesitate to choose the latter route. She was adamant about stopping Peter Lee.

Richard flew so fast that he got dizzy. He had just reached the fork in the road when he was stopped by Galaxy, who was waiting there.

“Hey! Richard, don’t fly forward,” Galaxy said.

“Ahoooooo!” Richard whispered in anger. He meant to tell Galaxy to quickly get away. Otherwise, Fina would not spare him.

Galaxy shook his head. “The entrance to the front has been opened, so you don’t need to illuminate it with a light stick anymore.”

“Ah? Really?” Richard loosened his mouth. He did not really want to get involved in Fina’s feud with Peter Lee. What if he got injured or even died in the process?

“Really,” Galaxy responded.

“Then can I leave first?” Richard said. With the light stick, he could fly out easily.

“Hey! Not yet. You have to go there first!” Galaxy lifted his claws and pointed at the ramp leading upwards. It led to the tomb of the king.

“Go over there? I may be a big man, but my courage is still very small!” Richard looked at the dark tomb and trembled.

Galaxy pushed his bundle of light sticks toward Richard. “Hey! Put light sticks with a reasonable distance between them. Fina will need that...and she will be very thankful for your service.”

Richard didn’t want to take on this errand, but if he could make Fina owe him a favor, perhaps this could save him if he ever did something wrong in the future.

“Ah! I really cannot say no to you. I will go then!”
