Chapter 179: Leave it to Me
“Ah!” Cries could be heard.
The crowd went ballistic as they watched the human trio, who once had the upper hand, get pressed down by the three barbarians with such a... barbaric method. It was such an idiotic method, but there was nothing they could do.
“This can’t continue! What should we do?” Inside the Seventh Truth Platform’s area, Yu Kuang racked his brain to think of an idea.
He turned and saw Xie Lianzhen out of the corner of his eyes, sitting there and looking at the rooftop like it was none of his business.
Over the past two days, Yu Kuang had accumulated a lot of emotions, and seeing Xie Lianzhen acting like it had nothing to do with him made Yu Kuang feel displeased. He raised his voice and called out to Xie Lianzhen, “Senior Brother Xie, you look very calm, huh? Do you have any good ideas, perhaps?”
Xie Lianzhen looked back at him. “It’s just a small skill. As long as they exhibit their normal standards, they’ll be fine,” he answered calmly.
“Oh? Is that so? This Junior Brother is very stupid, I’ll need Senior Brother Xie to enlighten me.”
Yu Kuang’s voice wasn’t soft, and the disciples near him were all looking over now.
Xie Lianzhen indeed had a questionable position in the Seventh Truth Platform. On one hand, he deserved the position because he was in the direct line of descent after the fifth clan master, the previous Alioth Star Lord’s true disciple. Him taking over the position was something that made perfect sense. On the other hand, he had some physical defects and rarely made an appearance, so a lot of people felt like his authority didn’t carry much weight.
They obviously knew that Yu Kuang was provoking him, and they were curious to see how Xie Lianzhen would respond.
“Combining three into one sounds powerful, but if you look at it from another point of view, the fight is now a three-on-one instead of a three-on-three. Two heads are better than one, so it won’t be difficult for three people to team up and defeat an opponent who’s stronger.”
Yu Kuang furrowed his eyebrows. “Senior Brother Xie, didn’t you see what they did? Three into one, one into three – if they try to fight it as a three-on-one, the other two harpies will just spread out and make it a three-on-three again.”
“Even easier then. Weren’t they just beating them in a three-on-three?”
Yu Kuang was taken aback by his answer. “It’s a transformation! The point is that they can transform at any time now!”
Xie Lianzhen smiled thinly. “How is it easy to transform from three into one? Especially when they depend on the resonance of their blood vessels. It isn’t enough to just have a good grasp over the technique because they each have their own tempos. If even one goes down, that’s the same as losing an arm.”
If the disciple thought Xie Lianzhen was just playing with words earlier, this reply could seen as opening their eyes to many different possibilities. The Seventh Truth Platform disciples were now pondering over the possibilities.
“Easy to say,” Yu Kuang retorted, not wanting to lose, “but do you think that Senior Brother Wei wouldn’t be aware of that? If you want to break the opponent’s tempo, you have to restrain them with pure ability. If they could do such a thing, they wouldn’t be having a problem in the first place.”
The disciples who were listening to the conversation secretly agreed. Breaking your opponent’s tempo wasn’t some unknown method, but it was easier said than done.
Xie Lianzhen shook his head. “That brings us back to the fact that this is a group fight. If it was a one-on-one, it’s obviously hard to forcefully break their tempo. However, in a group fight, you don’t need to forcefully restrain them, you just need to break their coordination.”
Just like a precise machine; as soon as one gear is out of place, the whole thing breaks.
Yu Kuang was left speechless. After thinking about it, it did make sense. However, the theory was great and all, but three harpies who had excited their blood vessels were way too strong. You couldn’t even touch them directly, so breaking their coordination would require perfect observation skills and accuracy. A three-on-three was much more complicated than an individual fight. Just understanding your teammates wasn’t enough for them to identify a gap so easily.
Looking at the match on stage, Yu Kuang prayed for his Senior Brother silently.
Wei Chunqiu was feeling frustrated now. The residual effect from his previous two matches still hadn’t faded away yet, and now he was stuck in this kind of situation. He wanted to use his strength to forcefully break the coordination between the harpies, but he was still worried about the problem with his mystic force, and he couldn’t make up his mind about what he should do.
After another attempt, they were still unable to break their coordination. Wei Chunqiu shook his head and turned to his other two teammates. “We can’t continue like this or we’ll reach a point where we have no more mystic force left to fight.”
Hearing his words, Kou Wei nodded in agreement. “Yeah. We should risk it.”
Both of them exchanged glances and saw the firm determination in each other’s eyes.
“By force?” Wei Chunqiu asked.
Kou Wei nodded slowly. “I’ll try to trap two of them.”
That way, Wei Chunqiu and Lu Mingshu could cut into the same point at the same time, and they would have a better chance to succeed.
“But you’ll have to face enormous pressure.”
“That can’t be helped anymore.” Kou Wei sighed. “As long as you both succeed, even if I get injured, it’ll be worth it.”
True, it’s way better than dragging the match out.
Wei Chunqiu was about to agree when he was cut off by Lu Mingshu; “Not necessary.”
Both turned to her at the same time. “You have a solution?”
Lu Mingshu nodded. “We just have to mess up their tempo and destroy their coordination. If we can find the right timing, it will be easy.”
Her accuracy was something that Kou Wei and Wei Chunqiu had both experienced. Especially Wei Chunqiu; he had personally experienced Lu Mingshu disrupting his tempo.
“But...”
“If both of you believe in me, then just leave it to me.”
Kou Wei and Wei Chunqiu turned to look at each other before agreeing.
“Okay, Miss, we will listen to you.”
The match had lasted for quite a while now, which gave Lu Mingshu enough time to collect all the data she needed. She glanced over to the rooftop and pointed toward the center. “Are you both familiar with Bagua?”
Both nodded. The Seventh Truth Platform was a Taoist sect, so Wei Chunqiu would know the Bagua by heart. As for Kou Wei, he was familiar with Bagua too since the Heavenly Sea Pavilion had done research on ancient martial arts skills.
“Let’s set that as the center and mark it with the bearings of Bagua; Heaven, Earth, Fire, and Water, etcetera. In a bit, you will both go wherever I point and follow my instructions. Is that okay?”
Kou Wei hesitated for a while before nodding in agreement. “Sure. Since we have decided to follow your plan, then let’s do it. ”
Wei Chunqiu had no objections either.
“When I shout 1, that means Senior Brother Kou Wei, and 2 is for Gentleman Wei. Please remember that and act immediately. We might lose our chance if we aren’t fast enough.”
“Yes.”
“1, go to the center, 2, go to the side!”
The trio immediately split up.
Kou Wei stood in the center firmly while Wei Chunqiu leapt up.
Lu Mingshu stood on the same line as Wei Chunqiu, but no more than twenty feet apart.
She shouted out loud, “1, defend, 2, attack!”
Kou Wei’s water dragon gushed up and surrounded his body.
Wei Chunqiu’s mystic light congealed into a sword, and the tip started blinking.
At the same time, Lu Mingshu slashed her sword energy down and pierced through.
The second harpy was close to Wei Chunqiu and attacked him, while the other two attacked Kou Wei.
“What are they thinking?” The crowd’s jaws dropped. “Handing command over to Lu Mingshu? Can she do it?”
“Oh no! Kou Wei’s being double-teamed!”
This is absolute nonsense!
