Chapter 279: Do You Know Who I Like the Most?

Qiu Yu laughed.

“Interesting kid. If you weren’t Xiang Hongfei’s junior, I would...” He suddenly paused, as if he had remembered something. “Oh, do you want to know who passed the test?”

Just as Lu Mingshu wanted to answer, Ling Wuxia started groaning, as she had just woken up.

It was the same for Zhou Ruying, who was slowly getting up.

Qiu Yu laughed and raised his eyebrows. “The ones they sent here this time are way more powerful than I thought.”

When Ling Wuxia and Zhou Ruying opened their eyes and registered what had happened, both stood up immediately and bowed.

“Greetings to Senior.”

Qiu Yu looked at Ling Wuxia and smiled thinly. “Ancient Jade Summit’s disciple?”

“Yes, Senior. Junior is Ling Wuxia.” As soon as they returned, Ling Wuxia went back to the old her with a mask – good attitude and polite.

“Indeed an Ancient Jade Summit disciple.” Qiu Yu nodded.

Zhou Ruying smirked sarcastically.

But no matter how straightforward she was, she knew her limits.

Qiu Yu laughed and stared at the three girls in front of him. “Do you want to guess who my favourite is?”

Ling Wuxia’s and Zhou Ruying’s eyes shone, and Lu Mingshu stared at him intensely.

None of them dared to think it would be them, but they hoped it would be. It was something that they would always be proud of, to be the one chosen by the Grandmaster.

Qiu Yu commented on Ling Wuxia first. “Ability, talent, dealing with affairs and thinking, you’re the best.”

Ling Wuxia smiled thinly and bowed. “Thank you, Senior.”

“I’m only saying the truth,” Qiu Yu replied. He meant what he said.

Ling Wuxia kept her smile and nodded.

This made Qiu Yu burst out in laughter. “See, Miss, you always know how to deal with people, when to reveal yourself and when not to. You’re competitive and crafty; for things that you want, you will do whatever you can to get them. In the future, Ancient Jade Summit, or even all of Beiming, will be in your hands.”

Ling Wuxia was speechless. She was unclear on whether Qiu Yu was being sarcastic or actually praising her.

After that, he turned to Lu Mingshu immediately, not waiting for her reply.

“For you...” He pondered for a moment. “Quite interesting.”

Ling Wuxia started to panic internally. When Qiu Yu gave her comments, he talked about her weakness and strengths. But for Lu Mingshu, he only said, “Interesting.” Does he really favour Lu Mingshu the most?

Ling Wuxia hated to lose to others, and if the other party was Lu Mingshu, she would even want to end her life immediately.

“The most book-smart junior I’ve seen in a long time.” Qiu Yu nodded. “You’re not street-smart, but you always remember your aim and move toward it, which is hard for many, even the very experienced.”

But Lu Mingshu didn’t seem to be happy with the praise. “But I’m not the one that Senior favours, right?”

Qiu Yu laughed, and this laugh seemed genuine.

“I was always proud of my intelligence, so I never liked anyone who was as smart as me,” he said. “You did not have the best start, but you still made it here, and you might be the biggest winner. Even if you had the ability, I must say that, without so much luck, you would not have made it. The amount of luck you have makes me jealous and even hate you for it.”

“...”

Hearing Qiu Yu, Lu Mingshu and Ling Wuxia were extremely shocked. This senior was a bit too... headstrong? Where was his well-respected person’s manner? What kind of grandmaster was jealous of a junior because she was lucky?

If that was the issue, then there was nothing they could do. It’s not my fault Lady Luck likes me. If you’re unhappy, then take it up with her!

Qiu Yu then turned to Zhou Ruying. “As for you... you made my hundred years of staying in Jasper Sun Mountain worthwhile.”

Zhou Ruying was staring into space blankly, and it was unknown if she was actually listening to the Grandmaster. She didn’t think she had any hope anyways. She was just here because Zhou Miaoru instructed her to be. Her meridians were injured permanently, and she was old too.

Now, Lu Mingshu and Ling Wuxia were staring at her. Especially Ling Wuxia, who looked green with envy and like she was going to skin her. Zhou Ruying stared at them weirdly, not even realizing what happened.

“What... why are you staring at me?”

Ling Wuxia suppressed her jealousy and said, “Miss Zhou, the Grandmaster has chosen you. Do you have anything to say?”

“What are you talking about?” Zhou Ruying blinked.

I’m so going to skin this retard. Ling Wuxia took a deep breath and repeated herself, “The Grandmaster favours you the most!”

“Oh....” Zhou Ruying then understood and looked at Qiu Yu in fear. “Isn’t that impossible?”

“Why not?” Lu Mingshu said in a monotone. “You have the talent and a good attitude. Is it weird?”

Zhou Ruying internally rolled her eyes. Aren’t you the one who said I’m hopeless? What happened to, “Senior wants someone who can be taught. You’re too old to change, and your meridians are injured too,” huh?

Those things were still true, but as long as the Grandmaster felt like it, conditions were nothing.

Zhou Ruying looked at Qiu Yu in shock. “Senior...”

Qiu Yu smiled thinly. “Indeed, I’ll choose her among you three.”

“Senior...” Ling Wuxia started after a while.

“You want to ask why?”

Ling Wuxia nodded. “Not because I’m jealous, but I just can’t understand.”

“Because among you three, she’s the most simple-minded.”

As soon as he said that, the three of them stared at him dumbfounded.

Qiu Yu looked at Ling Wuxia first. “You’re very ambitious. That’s not a bad thing, but to me, it would be troublesome to teach.”

Ling Wuxia remained silent.

“As for you.” He turned to Lu Mingshu, pausing a while before he started, “You hold too many grievances and are too ruthless, which is also troublesome to teach.”

Seeing her poker face, Qiu Yu laughed. “Really, you’re just like that kiddo. He would like you a lot if he ever sees you.”

Lu Mingshu didn’t reply. She was disappointed that she wasn’t chosen, but she didn’t feel sorry about it. Since the Grandmaster had not chosen her, there was nothing binding her anymore.

“Senior.” Zhou Ruying started to accept the fact. “Among us, I’m not the most talented or smartest. My meridians are injured permanently and I’m old, so there might not even be a chance that I’ll break through to the Spirit Realm....”

“What? Is it not good that I like you?” Qiu Yu grinned and cut her off.

Zhou Ruying stopped and looked extremely worried.

“It’s not that she doesn’t like it, it’s just unbelievable to her,” Lu Mingshu said. “She has never been the best and has never hoped for anything, but suddenly, she won the lottery. It must be that she fears it’s all just a dream.”
