Chapter 309: Accept the Fact

Chapter 309: Accept the Fact

How powerful could a Spirit Realm get?

Lu Mingshu thought that she was very clear of that after all the matches she watched during the Qilin Festival. However, she forgot the fact that, no matter what, she was just a bystander back then. The data would never be a match for someone who had experienced going against a Spirit Realm directly.

The whole cave was being filled with a violent mystic force. The former drug men who were just standing at the door were thrown out, while Lu Mingshu and Xie Lianzhen were now coming face to face with a Spirit Realm who had gone nuts.

Her spirit tool was activated, the mild golden light coming from the talisman fusing with the sword and weaving a shield around her.

Even so, she was thrown out as well.

“Mingshu!” She could hear Xie Lianzhen shout, and sparks could be seen flying around.

But that was only a delay.

Boom~~~~! With an explosion, he was thrown out too.

He indeed had strong basics, but he didn’t have much experience being in an actual fight. Furthermore, he had never trained with working legs once. Now, without the wheelchair, he was unable to perform because he was in a totally unfamiliar situation.

In the midst of the chaos, Xie Lianzhen activated his treasure to protect himself. A blue ray of light appeared, shielding him and Lu Mingshu from the attack.

“Are you okay?” He hurried toward Lu Mingshu, blocking the strong impact for her.

“We can’t let him continue,” Lu Mingshu said in between her breaths.

She then dashed forward with her sword.

“Haish...” Xie Lianzhen sighed, watching her dash toward the cauldron. He pinched his leg in annoyance. What’s the use of these if I can’t protect her?

On the other hand, Lu Mingshu had already thrown everything else to the back of her mind.

She built a model of the cave in her head within no time and collected the data for better performance.

Thanks to the Drug Lord and his experiments, not only had her physical strength improved, but her mental strength had as well. If not, she wouldn’t have been able to calculate so quickly and accurately.

This wasn’t necessarily the toughest fight Lu Mingshu had ever encountered. Even though the Drug Lord was a Spirit Realm, his attacks and skills were full of holes. To her, he was just like a sieve.

But this was certainly the most dangerous fight she had ever found herself in. The Drug Lord was a realm higher than her, and he couldn’t control his power well. What was even worse was that he had gone crazy now, so nobody could predict what he might do. Everything was now dependent on how fast she was. If Lu Mingshu was not fast enough, she would be seriously injured.

“Ahhh~~~~!” The Drug Lord screamed in agony. His face turned pale, then extremely purple. Due to the extreme pain, his face was distorted and terrifying to behold.

“Go to hell! Go to hell!” The Drug Lord no longer remembered his aim of breaking through. Under the erosion of the experiment, he was losing consciousness. Furthermore, Xie Lianzhen had exposed his deepest secret, which made him even more irrational. The Drug Lord now was like someone possessed, and he felt nothing but determination to kill the two people standing right in front of him. Rip them to pieces and turn them to ashes! Like those who taunted me! They shouldn’t be left alive!

Szzz! Blood could be seen, and Lu Mingshu landed right against the wall.

“Mingshu!” Trembling in fear, Xie Lianzhen reached out, and sparks flew toward the Drug Lord.

The Drug Lord broke the attack with one punch. Mystic force exploded, creating more sparks.

Xie Lianzhen seized this chance to get to Lu Mingshu. He formed needles with light and pricked them into the acupuncture points near her injury to stop the blood.

“Endure it. I’ll treat you after this,” Xie Lianzhen whispered.

But why would Lu Mingshu be afraid of such a minor injury? It wasn’t the first time she was injured, and she wasn’t so pampered.

“Okay,” she replied casually and stood up, ready to fight again. “Oh, and if you’re not used to fighting with your legs, just pretend that they aren’t there so at least you will be of some help.” She turned to Xie Lianzhen before turning back again and dashing forward.

“...” Xie Lianzhen slapped himself in annoyance. Even though many people always looked down on him, considering him an Alioth Star Lord who didn’t have talent that matched his title, he never once took it to heart because he knew that he was capable, and even much stronger than many others. But the thing that hurt his pride now was the fact that he was unable to stand in front of her and protect her now.

But she’s right. If I’m not used to having legs, then just fight like I’m used to. I can’t let her fight alone, right? When we got into trouble at the Flying Imperial Palace, we cooperated well.

Xie Lianzhen calmed himself down and joined the fight quickly.

As soon as he regained his composure, Lu Mingshu felt at ease. Wei Chunqiu once told her that Xie Lianzhen was way more hardworking than others during his childhood due to being wheelchair-bound, so his ability was not worse than Wei Chunqiu’s. Every attack of his was accurate, striking the opponent’s weak point every time.

Coincidentally, this fighting style was Lu Mingshu’s favorite as well. She could take Xie Lianzhen into account during her calculations, and it would be easy for her to coordinate with him.

This annoyed the Drug Lord even more. Why...? Why can’t I kill them? They are obviously a realm lower than me, and they seem so weak that I could easily crush them with my fingers, but they seem to be able to always escape at the crucial point. Is it because my inheritance is not a decent one? The setbacks he faced in the past had become his nightmare and was making him go crazy, and the sight of Lu Mingshu and Xie Lianzhen, along with the words that he never wanted to hear again, seemed to haunt him over and over again, never letting him go. Now, with the duo standing in front of him, not faltering even as he unleashed numerous attacks, drove him crazy. Why are they still not dead yet even though I’m much stronger? I’m gonna kill them all! Kill them all!

“You! Should die! Everyone will go to hell!” The Drug Lord raged.

An idea came to Xie Lianzhen’s head. “‘You’? You mean those who taunted you in the past, right?”

The Drug Lord immediately threw him a death glare.

“I’m right, huh? Haish, look at how useless you are.”

“What did you say?” The Drug Lord stood up and walked toward Xie Lianzhen slowly.

“I said that you’re useless. ” Xie Lianzhen sneered. “Use your ability against those who laugh at you and don’t act like a coward! Oh right, I forgot that you don’t have any ability or else you wouldn’t be here.”

“I’m preparing myself! When I break through, I’ll go back and kill them all! They can all go to hell!” the Drug Lord yelled at Xie Lianzhen, but he seemed to be talking to himself.

Xie Lianzhen slowly looked at him in disdain and smirked. “When you break through? I wonder when that will be. You wasted at least thirty years experimenting here while those whom you want to kill may have already broken through ages ago. No realm and no skills. What do you have to kill all of them, may I ask?”

This hit the Drug Lord’s sore spot. Indeed, the only reason why he was using this method to break through was that the methods used by others were useless to him. When he finally broke through, where would his hated enemies be? They were more talented than him and had more resources. At least one of them would have already broken through to the Assimilation Realm by now. How would he take revenge? He would never be able to do so!

The Drug Lord refused to accept the fact. Why...? We are all humans, why must I be of a lower status than them? Why are they the only ones who can shine?

“Accept it,” Xie Lianzhen said softly. “If you can’t, even the treasure that you stole can’t help. You’ve wasted so many years... what’s left for you to fight for when you only have an old body left?”
